Röyksopp have some absolutely fantastic songs as well as some pretty awful ones. I love most of their collabs, though, including the ones with Robyn and KDA.

Melody A.M. is probably one of the most underrated pop albums of the millennium.

my thoughts ~exactly~

I fucking love The Knife and Fever Ray. Karin Dreijer Andersson's vocal work enriches a few Röyksopp songs too. And they're basically responsible for helping Robyn launch her current sound.

Saw Fever Ray when they were touring, it was totally awesome. No traditional lighting, the only lights were lots of lamps on stage (like the above .gif). Lots of lasers too. I'd LOVE to see The Knife if they do another tour.

They have a new album out this year, too. A proper one.

Yeah, that Swedish pop scene is surprisingly tight, especially given how reclusive The Knife are/were. Besides producing Who's That Girl (which definitely foreshadows Silent Shout), they introduced Jenny Wilson to Robyn.

I think their strongest album is Junior (The Girl and the Robot could have EASILY been on Body Talk; This Must Be It, True To Life, It's What I Want <3), but Melody AM and The Understanding are both pretty great too.

the queens of pop are about to slay tonight, the lack of excitement is sacrilegious

Don't care for music videos at all, especially Shitty Garbaj. Um, cool for Lady Gaga's tour, but so what? And Katy Perry is sure to deliver another horrible live performance plus I don't watch Idol. So yeah, not really anything to be excited for. Call me when Kesha's new single releases or has a date.

Electra Heart leaked yesterday and omg.

It's so flawfree. Currently awaiting for the deluxe edition to leak so I can hear the full version of Lonely Hearts Club.

I've also looked into Madonna a bit because MTV had a special devoted to Madonna music videos and I bought myself Celebration. 32 tracks of perfection, jebus.

I want to know why Angel is consistently excluded in the track lists in all of her Greatest Hits albums.

Sure, it's not the most successful single on Like a Virgin, but still.

I've used Where Have You Been since November and I being waiting for the masses to hear it though I still dislike the goat and her trashy behavior I just want to hear it when I am dancing instead of We Found Love,

dont judge me

I've been on a Thriller kick lately. There's something to be said for the short-but-sweet pop album. All our faves could learn this lesson, honestly. Unless you're Janelle Monae or something, and can manage to create an album that is consistent all the way through, having so many tracks is totally unnecessary for a Pop album. "Deluxe" editions are so stupid.

Rihanna's interesting because she makes (relatively) shorter albums that still somehow manage to be bloated with filler tracks. #talkthattalk

A sneek peek of Where The Hits Have Been (All Along)!!! The Rihanna reign will continue well into 2012!!!!

Softcore porn video incoming!! Icky Garbaj officially cockblocked!!

BTW the song does not featur ethat elevator music, she did that as to not spoil it all.

That "elevator music" sounds more interesting than Where Have You Been. And I'm not even trolling. I can imagine a Rihanna song with music like that would be quite interesting. Has a Tarantino movie quality to it.

BTW: why the other music? We all know how WHYB sounds... Are they gonna mix the music up in the video or something?

You would want pop music to be less interesting for everyone then. What you consider filler tracks, somebody else considers the highlights of the album.

Just to give an example: on Born This Way I have deleted the tracks You and I, Fashion of his Love, The Queen, Black Jesus, Born this Way and Hair. I'm sure that I have deleted at least one song of that album that you like? So for your interest it wouldn't be good if I decided to trim all the "filler" out of the album BTW. :)

There are indeed rare occasions when an album seems to be only great songs, and there's this 1 shitty song that nobody likes.

But in general the more songs there are on an album, the more people will be pleased by at least some songs. Which is better overall.

I don't know, I don't really like any of the songs you listed either.

But yeah, it's a personal nitpick that's easily solvable with some right-clicking in iTunes. I've just found that some of the more well-regarded and memorable albums in many artists' careers tend to be more concise, e.g. Thriller, The Fame Monster, Breakaway, Daydream/Butterfly, Like a Prayer/Confessions/Ray of Light. I guess there are exceptions, like The Velvet Rope and The ArchAndroid but 8-12 songs or so is the sweet spot for me personally.

Well then, that settles it. We should be in charge of creating the track list of albums, since we're obviously the best at it. ;)

I also agree with you to a certain degree though. Albums that are restricted to a few killer tracks and nothing more get better reviews, more praise, and end up being more memorable in the future.

But I think this also clouds people judgment of albums. For example, I want to say The Fame Monster is a far better album than Born This Way, but purely looking at the track list I like 6 BTW songs, and only 5 TFM songs. It's just that because the ratio good/bad songs is better on TFM, that I feel like that album is the better of the two. While -objectively- BTW as an album has given me more stuff to listen to.

Count me as being a fan of shorter but more perfect albums, i.e. Homogenic, Daydream, Thriller, Fever Ray, and Purple Rain. Every song is a highlight! 9-10 songs seems to be the sweet spot.

Butterfly. Every song is a champion.

Leona said she plans for Glassheart to be a 10-track album, and wants every track to be a classic (citing Thriller as inspiration). Time will judge that lofty goal.

Personally, I'd prefer that it not be artificially constrained - she must've recorded over 50 songs by now, and I want to hear every. single. one.

/rabidly impatient

What's taking Glassheart so long? I don't get it
Leona met Fraser T. Smith (producer of "Set Fire to the Rain") and decided to record with him after having basically a complete record due for a fall 2011 release replete with producer hacks like Ryan Tedder and rising stars like Emeli Sande.

To placate us unworthy mortals, she released an EP of covers late last year that indicated the type of mood the two would be going for.

This worried fans who were expecting a more upbeat sound off the heels of "Collide" but no one really knows anything at this point except that "Trouble" (a mid-tempo song that's gotten rave reviews) will likely be the summer single to coincide with Leona headlining a bunch of 2012 Olympics events, and that the album will probably drop a couple months later.

Reading is fundamental, you know. <3

I've never heard this before! Oh, Christmasriah...

You haven't?! I love how well their voices blend.

At this point, the real joy in a Beyonce performance/video is not the thing itself, but inevitably discovering who it was she completely ripped off.

"And you still don't know how to make your own choreography. Look. I may have taken Antwaun Cook but he was just married, not copyrighted. Tryin' to flip the scripts on me. I got my diploma, can you get originality? Can you do that?"
