Ah, I asked because I thought Horror Girl was the BBEG in Gavan's. Nice!

Off topic, but MHWillians, your "Why we play the classics" article on USGamer was a great read =)

Mach's design looks pretty sweet down to the retro antennae and muffler. Dare I say, I might like his suit better than Drive's.

...Until the eventual form change.

Hey guys, rumor has it the next sentai is musical insect ninjas. Written by Kazuki Nakashima.]

Nice. After a season of hit-and-miss Kobayashi (mostly missing), it'll be nice to see what Nakashima can offer to Sentai, that is, if this rumor is true (seeing as it doesn't sound too far-fetched).

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the other posts after it.

Wild is coming so early.

Wild is a form change, not the mid season upgrade (So, it's closer to Pineapple Arms than Kachidoki if you compare to Gaim's forms). It does have a very different design compared to his base form though, unlike most form changes, so I can see why you'd think otherwise.

The shift cars seems so damn versatile, a form change seems like a bit much this early.

Thanks! Took a while to put it together.

We also have Type Technique coming before the mid-season upgrade,
Dead Heat
.

This show is working like Fourze. Treat the Shift Cars like the Switches. Random use ones punctuated by form changes.

Shift Cars seems to be specific to each type...the Type Wild Shift Cars, for example, have wheels that are way too big for Type Speed. Unless there are unique tires depending on the type.

Yeah, Type Speed is one line, Type Wild another, etc. I was saying you shouldn't treat the non-Form Shift Cars as particularly important.

Actually in the Type Wild reveal scans (alongside showcasing a bunch of shift cars), the Shift Car, Mad Doctor, is seen to be used in both Types.

There's a scan showing that they're swappable. They'll just use different props.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Watched through a bunch of recent Kamen Rider movies.

A & Z Forever:
It was decent. I liked the villains using W's Gaia Memories. Ending was a total Deus Ex Machina though...

OOO and W:
I adored W's segment, it was awesome to see Skull in action after hearing about him so much in W. Plus, an origin for "Count up your sins".
OOO's segment was... odd. Oda Nobunaga is brought back to life, somehow learns to be a computer and financial genius, and Ankh is barely in it.
The team up against Core was pretty badass. Even though it was dark to hide the CGI

OOO, Den-O and All Riders:
Man, I wish someone would sub Den-O. I know TVN did but screw them.
Really didn't make sense... but I imagine this was mostly an excuse to have all the Riders appear. Even the 90s movie ones.

The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals:
Felt padded at points. That CGI at the end was awful (I'll get into that more), though it was cool seeing all the OOO combos.

Fourze and OOO
Nadeshiko nooo! That was heart-wrenching...
The OOO segment was probably the best one of all his movies. I think I realized a big issue with the season, we never got a part where OOO just went all out with all the medals. He was always missing most of them. Compared to W with Ultimate and Fourze with Cosmic State...
It was cool to see the Legendary Seven again, though I imagine their main purpose was to sell special Switches and Medals.
That ending fight scene though... it's CGI like that that makes me wish for a Hollywood adaptation. It looks like something from the PS2. I'm resuming Gaoranger and the CGI really isn't that much different...

I'll get to the Fourze movie eventually.

On another note:
Ciara Hanna (Gia) is doing ADR for an extended episode
Were the fans wishes that the Murican version of the Legendary Battle was extended true? This sounds like a response to the extremely poor reaction of the international airings since the episode airs in 3 weeks.

The OOO Part of W/OOO was really weird, I've heard reasons like it was made before OOO really started filming, or was the "original plan", explaining why Ankh's barely in it (and seems a lot more "evil" than he is at that point), Eiji's an idiot who gives away money for free even though that directly contradicts his back story, Gotou is the original Birth, and their's "Gil".

YES!

One great thing about all movies with Eiji is how much medal kung fu he shows in which one.

Sharivan V-Cinema was fun. Way better than that bore of a Gavan movie. You guys weren't kidding about the blood, either.

Super keen for the Shaider one for Iwanaga.

Zyuranger DVD set on Amazon. Around $40 at the moment.

That's pretty damn good for 50 episodes (plus extras). Especially when Generation Kikaida's V3 set is $150.

$40 is a steal, I'd think.

I personally don't think Generation Kikaida's V3 release is all that overpriced though. $3/episode for a niche specialist release is pretty decent. I guess I'm still kinda comparing to the old 3 episodes to a $30 volume anime releases though.

That's a fair point. It certainly beats Aniplex and their robbery.
$500+ for Gurren Lagann Blu-Ray. Or buy 5 episodes for $50 each.

I guess we're spoiled by modern DVD releases.

Did we get stories for Samurai?

Not sure...
I know one actor said they were directed to speak like they were talking to 4 year old kids (hence the awkward dialogue)

But I say horror stories since all the signs point to Megaforce having a really messy production. Samurai was just "copy Shinkenger", but Megaforce screamed "OH GOD WHAT DO WE DO?!"

Less than $40 shipped for all of Zyu in a 10-disk set? Sold. I don't love Zyu, but it's certainly worth the entry price if only to hopefully get more Sentai releases in the US.

Man, I wish someone would sub Den-O. I know TVN did but screw them.
Really didn't make sense... but I imagine this was mostly an excuse to have all the Riders appear. Even the 90s movie ones.

What I hate about this movie is that the "All Riders" part is completely thrown in. They just appear at the end for no reason and barely get screen time and not even actual fighting scenes, just a glorified roll call. It's nice that they had Rider 1 and 2 in the main cast, unlike All Riders vs Dai-Shocker that only focused on Decade's cast, but the way they handled the other past Riders in general was worse than in Vs Dai-Shocker, with them getting no real fighting scenes and only appearing for the final battle.

In All Riders vs Dai-Shocker, there were fairly long fighting scenes for Amazon, Black RX, V3, Super-1 and Black in the Rider tournament, the other Riders are mentioned in the middle part of the movie, even if not appearing on screen, and in the final battle some of the returning Riders fight against some of the movie's main villains, like Garagaranda (where no main cast member participates at all) and Ikadevil. In comparison, in Let's Go, even after the past Riders appear, while facing the Shocker commanders, all other Riders disappeared and only OOO and Den-O get any screentime (with Rider 1 and 2 then getting a quick battle against the Shocker Greeed).

All Riders vs Dai-Shocker had problems in its handling of the past Riders, but Let's Go made those problems even worse, rather than improving it.

Also, regarding Megamax, the official reason for the first seven Riders being there is to follow up that teaser from Fourze episode 2, since the tv show itself wasn't going to have crossovers. Although the Switches were on sale, the medals weren't anymore by that time.

It's from a /v/ thread asking for your favorite game and biggest secret. People believe it's Andrew Grey but due to 4chan's anonymous posting policy, it can't be confirmed or denied.

Though if it is him, I wonder if he's played the Wonderful 101.

It could also be anyone from the cast of Samurai and Megaforce.

Not sure if Samurai would apply since the post was made in 2014, years after it ended.
Plus, the other 5 seem to attempt acting compared to Grey.

I dunno. I think "inspired" is being a bit generous to power rangers

*looks through episode list* At least we have confirmation they didn't change the names.

Other than the whole "Super Sentai Zyuranger" thing.

(which I think it's a fine way to handle it)

That doesn't bother me.
I know it's for branding purposes.
Easier to call if "Super Sentai Zyuranger" than "Dinosaur Squadron Zyuranger"
Or "Super Sentai Dairanger" over "Five-Star Squadron Dairanger"

Imagine trying to find each Sentai series in an alphabetical list if they used the original title structure....

that quality. did they get their raw from tv-n?

Always forget how awesomely slick the belt effects are for Decade. Them and W's are my favorite of recent.

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
They've had random episodes of shows up on that youtube account before, it's just that none of them have been available to at least america until now.

Apparently TOEI uploaded entire episodes to Youtube so you can watch the best part of Decade here.

They've been doing this since forever, but it's always been locked to Japan only. Maybe it was just a mistake in part of the ones running the channel?

Considering the terrible quality, and the practice of separating episodes into two parts, Toei probably cares little about it. The quality is probably to drive DVD and Blu-Ray sales I guess.

Elder ToQGAF members, what happened between MMPR and Zeo for people to act like MMPR is the only season of Power Rangers? I vaguely remember watching parts of MMPR as it aired and I caught some of Zeo, but those two aren't my favorite seasons by far. In fact, I hate MMPR with a passion.
