LAIR IN THE TOP TEN??!?

Wow... Japanese PS3 owners must be really desperate to try and justify their purchase.

Really low numbers overall...

16k good enough for top ten?

Is this just a slow time in Japan for games?

Wow, Wii play is a lot lower than I thought it would be based on the Famitsu numbers we saw. Hmmmm. And ... Lair?! Okay.

EDIT: I see the NDS Wii Sports on there now. That is a little more like it.

Wii Sports being out of the top 30 is shocking. Mario Kart DS' legs are sickening. Who'd have guessed it'd be the top-selling catalog title at this point in time?

Ahh, looks like Cheese made a mistake and labeled Wii Sports NDS.

I have to say again that the big surprise for me is how well Kyotaro Nishimura Mystety launched. Compared not only to Tecmo's other franchises (even the top flagship ones), but also compared to other text/graphical adventure games... it's really damned impressive.

Some adventure comparisons:
Code:
Trace Memory NDS	48,357
Hotel Dusk NDS	61,336
Phoenix Wright GBA 23,911
Phoenix Wright DS	NDS 50,469
Project Hacker NDS	33,199

And comparisons to other Tecmo first week sales:
Code:
Ninja Gaiden XBX	39,935
Ninja Gaiden Black	XBX	3,886
Ninja Gaiden Sigma	PS3	40,886
Dead or Alive SAT 92,086
Dead or Alive PSX 59,461
Dead or Alive 2 PS2 158,506
Dead or Alive 2 DC 99,054
Dead or Alive 3 XBX 84,471
Dead or Alive Ultimate	XBX 52,401
Dead or Alive 4 360 62,603
DoA X XBX 88,230
DoA X2 360 45,065
Deception PSX 38,489
Kagero: Deception 2	PSX 65,380
Deception 3 PSX 39,958
Trapt PS2 63,461
Gallop Racer 1 PSX 24,679
Gallop Racer 2 PSX 77,152
Gallop Racer 3 PSX 90,585
Gallop Racer 4 PSX 53,917
Gallop Racer 5 PS2 34,041
Gallop Racer 6 PS2 49,071
Gallop Racer 7 PS2 32,528
Gallop Racer 8 PS2 37,512

If this game is actually good, and Tecmo nurtures it properly, they could have a really killer new franchise on their hands.

Please note: if my chart is misaligned, remember -- DON'T BLAME ME, BLAME YOURSELF OR GOD IE!

Just like they keep buying horrible Gundam games to justify their PS2 purchase... or maybe Japanese gamers just have different tastes than you or I.

What is this detective game and is it coming to the US?

It's an adventure game written by a Japanese mystery author. And probably not.

And I guess that ASH is a bomb

We knew that last week.

I doubt Crisis Core will hit a million now.

Pity really.

Yeah... that's been apparent for weeks now, though.

Lair got 33/40 in Famitsu (same score as PGR4 actually) tho so this could be why it sold pretty good (good is relative, but 22k for Lair and in Japan isnt what i would call too bad :)).
