How is it a lot closer than he thought, when it sold less per week than last month, even with titanfall and price cuts/bundles? How many did he think it would sell?

And 'sell-in' raises an eyebrow? It should do more than that, it should basically make those numbers instantly meaningless for any kind of Xbox vs PS4 comparison.

Can't believe *any* of the press is using that 5m number in the same context as the PS4 7m.

I'm not surprised PS4 outsold Xbone. To me something was clearly amiss when the $450 Xbone sales went on for a week at various retailers with stock never drying up. (I loaded up the product pages and checked several times as I was tempted.) Clearly someone wasn't buying them. The same goes for Titanfall and all of the deals for it. Hell, I don't doubt that without some of the various sub-$60 offers for Titanfall available it wouldn't have hit the number 1 spot.

Now I'm extra interested in a few things:

1. How will Project Morpheus and a serious VR push will effect things long term?
2. Sony must know that, although they're selling well. They need to get to a real mass market price to cement things. Will Sony try to get the PS4 to $299 by holiday 2014
3. How fall along are they into the planing stages of the PS4's successor? Does the PS4 architecture scale well?

1. Impossible to tell without a price and release date. If the thing is priced too high, isn't quality (meaning more than 5% of the users get sick), and/or the games aren't supported, it will fail. If not, it has a chance, but these factors are so in the air right now.
2. Absolutely not. $399 with a holiday game or a Vita discounted, but no.
3. They're likely already researching it, but in very, very, very early stages.

LMAO. Fanboys be smoking crack. Most of my 360 friends list now shows up as XBOX One. In my circle of friends I know 5 people with XBONE and 1 with PS4. XBOX One is outselling 360. PS3 was in 2nd and did fine. I would applaud your use of hyperbole but I feel that you actually believe the hype.

I said the same thing. more of my friends list are upgrading to the 1. I only know one person who switched over to PS4. The rest haven't bought the x1 because they can't afford to. Couple said they're waiting until fall for games like Destiny and next halo.

MGS4 was a huge thing back then, it sold 500k PS3 in June and the 360 got outsold.

Question: Can you buy Infamous / Titanfall digitally, and if so, I don't believe digital purchases are counted at all as part of the NPD sales data?

Still, MS will have to have something pretty strong at E3 to try to win back mindshare. On the bright side, it is best for consumers if the consoles stay close to each other; far more competition which means far better prices and games for us.
