Probably old, but the TLG producer Yasutaka Asakura says on LinkedIn that he is a business manager at Sony now, before that he was the senior producer of the game.

I just noticed my voting option was changed to something that will get me banned from the site. Dammit.

Out of curiosity, if The Last Guardian had to die so that the staff stuck working on that game could move on to work on Project Beast, would you consider that a fair trade?
Absolutely. Hell, just get the staff working on a game that will actually release on time would be worth it. Free team ico.

Can you prove Ueda is actually there?
In what sense? A photo of him holding today's paper with a DualShock 4 in his hand and a dev kit behind him? No, obviously not.

We see periodical images of him in the office, comments from Sony staff that he's there, even the odd official interview, things which are unnecessary for pretending the game exists. He would have to be involved in this elaborate, and completely pointless ruse.

TLG might be a big deal on GAF, but it's not in the grand scheme of the PlayStation audience, many people on GAF already believe it's dead, the ones that don't aren't going to damn Sony for confirming a cancellation.

TLG isn't above being cancelled, it doesn't warrant the machiavellianism the lie would require.

This happens with every long term game, people thought RDR2 was canned, LA Noire, FF Versus XIII, they think HL3 is, they think TLG is. Why these games take so long is something of a mystery to me, but it's very clear at this point that a game taking close to ten years is an oddity, but far from impossible.

The game has obviously had serious development issues, the one time we actually saw it, it ran so poorly it made Far Cry 3 look like a hot knife through butter, and maybe it should have been cancelled, but it wasn't.

I'm almost as excited to see your first post after a reveal as the reveal itself.

IGN: "Conflicting Reports on if God is real"
Update: Official reports from Russian God has revealed that there is quite a lot of confusion in Heaven. We are trying to talk to God but His lack of response just goes to show internal turmoil in Heaven.
Fixed with brief update.

God that is so fake. But I still want to see another Playstation crossover game... With more third-party characters (none of them are gonna play ball though). It's Playstation's 20th anniversary this year though, so who knows.

I doubt we'll see PSASBR 2. First one was bombed pretty hard.

I doubt we'll see PSASBR 2. First one was bombed pretty hard.

The fact that it bombed wouldn't mean there's no chance for a sequel, especially since it probably didn't cost that much to make. There was absolutely no advertising budget, which sure as hell didn't help. They'd just see it as "this is what went wrong, let's not do that this time."

26.5 hrs left.

SOON!

VGChortz is banned on NeoGAF for a reason -- that reason being that they just make shit up without any facts behind it. Please don't post numbers from there for any reason.

I know they make estimates, but they do retroactively correct their numbers after NPD comes out. So is it still a problem to post old numbers that have since been corrected and verified with NPD's numbers?

Hell no!
Cancel Project beast and work on TLG is the better trade.
Because I'm sure there will be many more soul games in the future, but another ICO, SoTC too fucking rare!

We don't typically ban sites as a punitive measure for posting a single foolish story, we ban sites as a preventative measure when it's clear the likelihood of them posting garbagey stories in the future is too high and that will result in too many terrible threads.

Well, the problem is, this isn't just about one single foolish story.

There is a long history of threads on GAF due to garbage spewed by IGN.

This is what I found after ten minutes of googling:

Good god, what did IGN do to this review?

IGN at it AGAIN: Why Dark Souls will eat Skyrim's face

IGN to run an AMA with MS about Xbox One in a few minutes

GAF, stop tearing companies down! (Ryan@IGN tweet)

IGN Game Scoop - Why does Iwata still have a job?

IGN: The naked eye cannot perceive the difference between 1080 and 720 before 50in

IGN: Sony has yet to show anything running on PS4, using PCs [actually Dev-kits]

IGN predicts that Sony will announce at least one exclusive game at E3

IGN rushes through PJSideScroller, lies, is called out, removes part of review

IGN admits their pre-release Ghosts footage wasn't 1080p after all

IGN compares PS4/Xbox1,forgets a thing called GPU

And most of this stuff is fairly recent. A more thorough search would probably find a lot more stuff.

Yes. See this:

Their legacy numbers aren't uniformly reliable, no.

I have a hunch that VG Chartz steals some numbers from NPD / Famitsu, but it's not done across the board.

That is, they have absolutely no standards of reliability. They throw in random guesses and guesstimates and slightly-modified NPD data into one massive crap shoot and gloss over all of it as "video game sales data."

The website staff just do it to bring in ad revenue anyway. It's a huge money maker that preys on ignorance, and every time some delusional news organisation quotes it like it's fact, the unreliable misinformation continues to spread.

Pachter has full access to NPD data. Pachter's equity research reports never mention VG Chartz. Do you know how much time I think he spends perusing VG Chartz's archives? Little to none.

So when he was preparing that question for Pach Attack, I bet he looked up a couple of games, checked a few numbers, then came to that "generally accurate for legacy numbers" claim. But I refuse to believe for a second that Pachter performed thorough research into Chartz's methodology for legacy numbers.

Let's take a completely random example of a major game...Just Dance 3 Wii sales in 2011.

According to NPD, Just Dance 3 for Wii sold just above 450K in October 2011.

But according to VG Chartz:

So tell me, how can Chartz be a "pretty on the spot" resource if its numbers for October have a significant 110K discrepancy from the real NPD numbers? 350K and 460K are two very different numbers.

You cannot trust Chartz as a thoroughly reliable source for legacy sales numbers. Maybe some numbers are similar to NPD, but there are definitely many others that aren't.

GAF bans IGN and continues to post their E3 content without citing a source or even being allowed to. Well that certainly leaves us in a great position to lecture IGN about ethics.

The only interest I have in this game is seeing how far they are going to drag this out. It could become an interesting game if there was anything to see of it after all these years. The absurd development hell/limbo has in itself become a spectacle for me. I can't say that about many games :p

Just because it's "NOT cancelled" doesn't mean it's in good shape, though.

I mean, there's a large gray area between " not cancelled" and "in active development".

From a business standpoint I will kill the game and work on something else. 7-year development cycle is simply unsustainable.

So who's position is to say the project is cancelled? IGN's or Sony's? That the issue here.

We all know we're gonna get a release date this e3. Plus gameplay or a trailer.

I don't think so. If you asked me if I thought The Last Guardian would be making an appearance a couple of days ago, I would have said no. There's no way Sony could whip something up the day before E3 just because it has been reconfirmed as in development.

TGS or Gamescom methinks, tomorrow will be all about The Order, Uncharted, and whatever Sony Bend et al are working on.

Well they obviously haven't made a trailer overnight based on this rumor, it's either in the conference or it's not, and it would have been decided a while ago.
