They kind of did. He was a favorite of Bendis and Bendis puts him in everything he can. He is the only reason Luke cage isn't a corny piece of comic trivia today.

Both Marvel and DC have pretty much opted not to overboard trying to ground every aspect in logic.

Like if they can they try to an extent but after watching AoS and Flash so far its clear that its pretty much all plot at this point
