Giving it to 1989 over TPAB is the biggest fuck you of all time, for so many different reasons.

It's a shame that Kenny is such a low key and humble guy, I'd love to see him give the Grammys the Kanye treatment and tell them to go fuck themselves. What a joke.

I AM LIVING OFF THE SALT AND THE MERE ANTICIPATION ON THE RIGHTFULLY DESERVED DESTRUCTION THE GRAMMYS ARE GOING TO GET.

BRING IT ON.

LET ANOTHER ORGANIZATION GET CALLED OUT ON ITS BULLSHIT.

Not trying to be a bitch, and I don't care about the Grammys, but I was assuming the newest Kendrick would win when it was announced as a nominee. I honestly had no idea that adults listened to Taylor Swift...

I don't like Swift or her music really, but I never understood the "Kanye made her famous" insult. I mean...she was accepting an award BEFORE Kanye got up and made an ass out of himself (hilariously). She was already famous and successful. Give that shit a rest.

? I wanted Kendrick to win too but I'm not going to call Swift a skeleton or say "Kanye made this bitch famous" just because he lost.
Neither will I. I don't agree with either of those things.

I will say that on a purely artistic level TPAB is miles more interesting and inventive than 1989.

The reality is that this should have been the expected outcome. I'd love to see an actual vote breakdown

she's one of the most popular artists in the world...

Kendrick's new music is a bit dark for me, to win a Grammy it's a bit too divisive sort of like yeezus which was trash.

Taking the Long Way won Album of the Year in 2007. Tell me THAT wasn't a divisive ass record. It basically spat in face of country music, and quite blatantly.

I know it's just an award and he doesn't need any validation but it still fucking hurts man. TPAB is a triumph. That isn't a knock at Taylor Swift. But shit, man wtf. I don't get it. I honestly do not get this shit.

Hip-hop literally gets zero respect. First My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and now To Pimp a Butterfly. It's downright disgusting and slap in the face to these artists.

He made her famous with black people. Which is the only thing that matters for a lot of folks

I mean, opinions are opinions, but "definitely better"?

How?
1989 is just about as good as pop music gets. It's infectious, irresistible fare. That it was released by one of America's savviest budding business magnates in Taylor Swift who makes pushing the right pleasure buttons a clinical and sordid science kind of makes 1989 a more compelling (albeit unintentional) polemic of American capitalism and social mores than TPAB.

TPAB is boring. It's bad jazz coupled with hackneyed bars by a technical genius who quite honestly has poor songwriting instincts. I think Kendrick has limitless talent, but his ear for music has pretty precipitously deteriorated since Section.80.

How exactly did Taylor diss Kanye; I tuned out during her speech

(Paraphrasing) She said that women, when they accomplish something, will always have to deal with someone else stepping up and trying to take credit for their accomplishments or fame

And to think Kendrick Lamar is the second mainstream rapper in years to have something to say.

But no really, we'll look back on this year and wonder how the Grammys got it so wrong.

Well, I mean yeah, but I've never actually heard a Taylor Swift song and the only people who I know that listen to Taylor Swift are children. It didn't occur to me that she was respected in the North American industry is all.
