I really like the artbook and stuff but Im jealous of that steelbook!! US gets tbe best deal again :(.If anyone has an extra empty one ill gladly buy it :D

Maybe I'm watching the wrong vids or it might be due to me playing FPS alot recently but the gameplay I've watched has a weird disconnect where 1-2 headshots don't kill a regular enemy mob.

Well double dipped
I've had it on PS3 and never got to it.
Now I bought it for PS4 digital and don't even know where to begin.
I may not even be ready lol

If the enemy is behind cover, even actual headshots do little damage. Same applies to you. In the open, headshots are pretty deadly though, especially with snipers.

A game with visible HP bars has game-like qualities to it.... shocking. Note the pretty hefty metal helmet on each of those knobs being shot at. Realistically, you might expect a good number of deflections if the impact angle is off. Snipers can be expected to down mooks with one shot to the head, but for the rest, it is just a very effective damage multiplier.

Correction: Cover eliminates the whole concept of critical hits. All hits are equal when in cover.

More general advice:

Crouching behind a sandbag makes you immune to criticals.
Being within base limits gives you improved defense. It will also heal you to full and restore all ammo once the enemy's turn is over.
If an enemy has their back to you, they won't ever dodge.
Flamethrowers can critical and destroy bunkers from any angle.
If you use a sniper rifle; zoom all the way in, align your target, then zoom all the way out before firing. This makes it so that the enemy will never dodge a sniper shot. (glitch/oversight).
Blue sight line = you can see enemy, enemy can't see you.
Yellow sight line = you and the enemy can see each other. Enemy can now evade or block if fired at.
Red sight line = you are within enemy's interception range.
Green sight line = you are within enemy's interception range, enemy is reloading.

Picked up my beautiful steelbook copy today, and found out I saved $5 (I pre-ordered when it was listed as $45 CAD, but it's $40). The thing is a work of art. Putting it next to my copy of GR made me feel good inside.

So basically to you if it's anime it's automatically Japanese? To each his own but if that's your only reason then it's not a very good one.

IMO, if they have western names then I'll give the dub a shot unless it's terrible. That's how I played the original and edy detachment. It paid off for VC2 since it was English dub only and the original VA's came back to reprise they're roles.

Forgive me everyone for derailing

How do you get those themes?

I remember downloading a PS3 theme from the official website around the time it originally launched...wish I could find it.

Errr, this might eliminate the chance of a dodge, but it kills your own accuracy as the shot scattering circle is absolute, so the farther you are zoomed out, the less chance you have of actually hitting in the first place. Sure, absolute endgame eliminates this with pinpoint accuracy rifles and Marina™, but before that, it seems to only hurt your chances.

This is true, my mistake. People should make sure the aiming reticle covers the enemy head even on full zoom-out.

Around a little over halfway through the game on, the accuracy of snipers starts getting so high this begins becoming a viable strategy, especially with the introduction of royal weapons.

Looks like they're not available in the US. Apparently the HK store has them for decent prices after conversion.

YES UPS TRUCK IS HERE

I was hoping to play this tonight, but it looks like Amazon shipped it today and it won't be arriving until tomorrow? I thought Prime guaranteed the game on release day! /rage

I can't wait to jump in though! I'll be reading this thread in anticipation.

Oh, one more tip... in Chapter 7 battle, Varrot mentions "east" a few times in dialogue, but she's not very clear. What she is trying to say is the map's northeast. This befuddled me because there is no clear "East" (the map's East with a default compass? The East from the front of the structure facing towards me?) So I hope that helps a few people.

Also she mentions that you can knock down walls during this mission; the first wall is already knocked down, so don't try to knock it down again. It looks like it's deceptively still standing.

They made a mistake on the listing and options. You had to hit up customer service and ask for release day delivery

Use story characters, they have more CP. Use Marina, Alicia, Rosie. They're about best in class. Don't level up Engineer, I think I neve rleveled that class. Instead, focus on Scout, Shock, Sniper and Lancer in that order. Lancers don't hit shit at first but get decent a higher levels, same for Snipers esp. Marina. I think she never misses at max level. Never expose your Tanks weak point, always position it so that enemies cannot aim for it.

Someone I was talking to was adamant about scouts hurting the game. Is he referring to anything legitimate?

I A ranked the whole thing on Ps3 and yeah Scouts were OP.

With resist crossfire (awaken potential) etc you could blitzkrieg to the objective. Also taking out cover and multiple enemies with grenade launcher at Elite level.

Alicia is very OP. But shes the lead.

Decided to go to Best Buy instead of waiting for Amazon to actually ship my order, maybe even avoid the bubble mailer roulette, because I remembered I still had GCU.

The case was still dented.

Even though it's not an actual steelbook it's one of the best metallic cases I have.

Ignoring the lv up of engineers means passing one of the best early game buffs, the "All Defend" order. They are also extremely useful in certain missions, such as Rosies side episode, Hard skirmish 8 and a few others. All classes are useful, if you know how to use them.

Seriously though, its an animefied WW2esque setting with certain tropes and conventions, its not a documentary. A conventional beach episode is even involved at one point. They barely skipped an opportunity to throw in an ill fitting onsen vacation segment.

That isn't what I really meant. More like, it takes place in a very European/Western looking setting with characters that are clearly not Japanese. Plus, the English dub being pretty decent is an added plus.

Wat? I'm saying english is not 'more suited' to the game just because of the general setting they based the game on which is fantasy warped to begin with, and not english dominated anyway. I would say that Japanese is more suited because the VA are superior, and the anime imprinted the Japanese voices into my brain after watching it so many times

I'll add some of this info to the OT tomorrow when I'mon my PC again.

Amazon hasn't shipped mine. I'll hope it's because they're taking the time to actually package my steelbook properly 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

How is the anime for it anyhow? It has a decentrating on MAL and I'll definitely be interested in watching it once I'm done with the game.

Really, really surprised (and happy) for being able to get this today around here (Brazil)

20160517_200845_zpsteznc3im.jpg

Payed R$ 175,00 (about U$50,00) - quite a decent price as well

Did not had the chance to play it on PS3 or PC, but got pretty hyped after watching some gameplay footage and reading about it here

Mine shipped with a book that also released today so hopefully I don't have any damage. :/
A wrinkle or scuff on a cardstock LE is fine but a dent on a steelbook would be more upsetting for sure.

It's terrible. Aside from the fact that they totally botched the lovely artstyle in favor of more moefied designs, there are a fair number of plot and character changes that just don't work at all.

-The Edelweiss is suddenly some fast super tank that can deflect incoming enemy shells
-The relationship between Alicia and Welkin is very underdeveloped (Alicia doesn't even bake bread for Welkin)
-Alicia is now some generic tsundere
-Irene Ellet is apparently not above trying to seduce Welkin in the male bathroom for a good scoop now.
-The cabin scene sucks now. The soldier holds both characters captive, and by the time he dies there's no direct confrontation between the enemy general and Welkin & Alicia when he finds the gravesite. He basically just goes, "Well they made a grave for the guy, so I guess they must be good people!"
-There is now an unnecessary love triangle between Welkin, Alicia, and Faldio.
-Other character and story moments changed for the worse
-Did I forget to mention that the anime was written by the same guys behind Persona: Trinity Soul?

One of the visual changes:

For some reason, they decided that the two Bruhl guardsmen should be changed to two young boys instead of some older looking men who would have served the role better.

Wow, have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised at the £15.99 price in the UK, particularly when they throw in the complete set of themes and avatars for that price.

Not actually played it yet as I'm still playing Doom and Uncharted 4 (again) but will hopefully get to play this weekend. :)

Just picked up the squad 7 version, amazing cover art. Never beat the PS3 version so can't wait to play through it.

Also, it only says 11MB HDD on the back of the box/sleeve, is that a misprint and it should be GB? If not that's great.

Opens steelbook
Sees not even an insert.
Places ps3 manual into steelbook.
Fuck this no manual digital paper BS

lol I'm doing this too now, thanks. And yeah pretty cheap there's literally nothing but the disk in the case.

Oh. I didn't read through the spoilers since I haven't played the game yet, but that's unfortunate.
