If this is real I'm disappointed. I would like to buy a new PS4, other than PS4Neo, but it would absolutely need to be at least 1TB.

So, if real, what are they doing? 500GB still isn't enough. It wasn't at launch, it isn't now.

It's not big enough for you, or us on GAF that buy lots of games per year.

To the guy that only plays the yearly refresh of madden/fifa/cod and the occasional GTA, 500gb is plenty of space.

We need to start to understand that GAF demographic is vastly different than the world at large.

What's the current average attach rate for psd? 10,12 games? Not every game goes up to 50gb.

Being cheap doesn't mean that the manufacturer will opt for a bigger/better option. Damn, Apple still sell 16gb iPhones, and to me that's much worse than 500gb consoles.

If this choice is making costumers happy they will buy it. The price is (almost) always the most important factor, and if Sony can get away with 500gb ps4 selling like hotcakes there's no reason to up the base offering.

That's why normally there's a "premium" sky that you can buy with added space and/or more controllers.

It's plenty if you don't hoard games on your harddrive for the 0.172% you might replay them anytime soon. I coped just fine for nearly 3 years. Only since my daughter has started playing loads of kids games have I had to upgrade. As she flicks between them all the time.

500GB is enough for the vast majority of people. I only keep the couple of games I want to play on the system.
GAF always pretends that hoarding shit on your HDD is commonplace.

I installed in 15 retail games and 3 demos before I have to delete something. Just deleted 1 game (Until Dawn) and I got another 45 GB.

Oh man, it was only a play on words on the typo in the post I quoted.

The vast majority of costumers don't care about 1Tb drives, and you can always upgrade.

It's not leaked because only waifu-SIM devs are making games for it and the press won't give them the time of day.#believeintrinity

I mean, you joke but everything has leaked the moment a kit has hit somewhere. Best kept secret or next to no one has a kit, or its a revision as noted above.

Sony:
Launch PS4 (with one revision to remove the gloss)
Slim PS4
PS4 Neo

Microsoft:
Launch Xbox One (with one revision to remove the gloss)
Xbox One S (the slim)
Xbox Scopio

Both companies have three models.

When I said that I was referring more to the people complaining that the slim ps4 doesnt seem to include 4k output. Functionally it would be identical to the launch ps4.

The 500gb isn't enough folks are crazy, they are acting like one game is going to take up that much where not even 10 full PS4 games would do that, not to mention the plethora of smaller/indie titles that are under 1gb. Get real folks.

The Xbox One S is replacing the launch models (that's why so many places were doing fire sales before August). Once those systems are gone, the S will be the base model. Just like the PS4 Slim will be replacing the normal PS4, except for some reason Sony didn't give it 4K support.

Yeah i think 500 (450 really ) is enough for the average gamer .
They don't buy more than 4 to 5 years big AAA games a year .
And the next year they buy the same thing again so they just delete the old ones.

Why not just buy a neo?

The point of a slim model is to be small and cheap, not necessarily to have improved features. THat's what Neo will be for.

I wonder whether someone bought the Slim like he said someone was doing? Why won't nobody post pics of the console itself ffs?

In sony's case, downsizing and revisions have meant taking away features. But I don't see anything that could be taken away here. Maybe they might go USB 3.0 so we can use externals. That would be a game changer.

I dont know why this is even a big deal to you or why my clarification does not satisfy you, but the externals are not that relevant to what I said. I'm talking about output and performance.
Microsoft has three tiers of their Xbox One console in peoples homes: The basic at 1080p, the basic at 4k and the Scorpio at 4k. Sony will only have two tiers, the launch and the slim at 1080p and the Neo at 4k.

Why these nitpicky details are important to you I'm not sure, but all I was trying to say was that I think two tiers is fine considering how soon the Neo will be released. An inbetween tier makes more sense for Microsoft considering how far away Scorpio is. Sony doesnt need it. They'll have both the budget and the enthusiast crowds covered just fine.

I would actually get a PS4 slim over a Neo if it was priced right. If this it's legit, it's reasonable to think that the SoC is manufactured on a 16nm process like on the Xbox One S. It would make sense, and hopefully it would be quieter than the OG model. I also hope there will be SATA 3.0 support, but I doubt it.
