This remake is like 343 remaking Master chief collection using Halo Infinite engine to coincide with the show they just released.
Somehow xbox one version isn't enough.

HFW looks more impressive to me, especially being open world. I expect Ragnarok to be more impressive as well.
But honestly it's not about comparing to other games. It's about recognizing what ND was able to accomplish on base PS4 with TLOU2 and seeing marginal improvement with the remake. The trailer looks great, no question. But I can't label it impressive without pretending TLOU2 doesn't exist.

1. It's a Remake. No need to throw more resources at it than need be.
2. They wanted it to look and feel like how TLOU2 looks and feels when played on the PS5.
3. This isn't a crime or something that's morally terrible. It's a simple business decision, that to some makes sense.
4. It looks better than 95% of games on the market today.

My point was that casual newcomers from the tv show who buy it on the PS5 will be very small because.
1.PS5 and the game is expensive for casual gaming newcomers.
2. Casual newcomers are not going to be as bothered by the new visual upgrades
3. I dont think the TV show will bring in that many new players. And the majority who it does will probably pick up the remastered version because its far cheaper and PS4's are cheaper and far more accessible.
The only reason you give for why the remaster will be forgotten is because of visuals but you ignore the fact that the remaster is cheaper, PS4s are easier and cheaper to get and casual gamers dont care as much about visual upgrades.
Also you originally moved the goal posts by saying that because of a remake ps5 bundle it will sell loads. Well I was talking about gaming newcomers from the tv show. Anyone could buy a ps5 remake bundle. I dont know how this shows my point to be incorrect.

Not only is the character she plays quite a bit older than she is in this photo, but said character went through two decades of survival mode in an apocalypse, and does not wear make-up to look alluring. The comments made by some of you are "number one bullshit...".

This was just a PS4 game from the start. ND took over because Neil had nothing planned after TLOU2 aside from working on the tv show, and now they are stuck making a last gen game in 2022. A real ND next gen game is going to blow minds. It will break the internet. Mark my words.

Technically it could be on last gen with downgrades but the purpose of this was to get new staff up to speed with PS5 hardware. Also people forget adding in a last gen version is even more work now because devs have to make a port for both PS4 and Pro.
Agreed, even with still looking for a PS5, I'm fine with the remake being next gen only.
let them move on, let them learn the new hardware. I want it with no compromise.
Agreed, I was just going to say that. They want both games to look alike by design to make them fit. I think where they can do better, they will do on a 100% new engine made for PS5 from the ground up, likely for The Last Of Us 3. This looks amazing regardless.

Agreed, so it sounds like sorta a Twin Snakes situation where they took Metal Gear Solid 2's mechanics and gameplay and engine and put in Metal Gear Solid 1.
From The Last Of Us 1 to 2 gameplay wise, that shit is night and day.
Prone, better AI like them teaming up, flanking you, looking for fallen teammates, dogs smelling you and following the scent, the rope mechanics, breaking windows and such. Simply with those ideas alone, its 100% a full remake, not just a "better GRX" lol, a FULL REMAKE. I love the first game, but I forgave a lot of the bad gameplay based on it being a new IP, it simply didn't stand a chance against MGS4 that gen or other better stealth 3rd person shooters, I loved its world, story, concept etc more then the actual gameplay stuff and I was able to put that aside.
The Last Of Us 2 though? Dear lord, they are chasing fucking Metal Gear Solid now, its that deep right now. They add in moving bodies and its basically that. I never thought they'd add soooooo much to the sequel in terms of gameplay, that while playing thru 2 many times, I kept thinking "damn it would have been fucking awesome if the first game felt and played this good"

It looks good enough visually I guess and I'd play it, but I'm certainly not buying again full price as I've finished the original like 6-7 times.
I wish they would have expanded a bit more on everything rather than go for a 1:1 remake, that's the worst part. The original is there and playable on modern platforms, do something more with it.

I love when I see people taking shots at this by saying that it doesn't look better than TLoU2. As if there were many game out there that could claim to look better than TLoU2.
Being able to play both game back to back in a cohesive presentation is going to be great. Will it be worth $70 to most people? Certainly not but game drop in price.
I didn't want this nor liked the idea of a remake, but so far it looks great, seems very respectful to the original game. Too bad they didn't add some DLC side content to this, like a Left Behind sized Joel and Tommy early days flash back, like Ellie got with Left Behind.
