The fighting is fiercest when it's your home at stake! Mass Effect 3™: Earth adds mods, gear, and new maps for Rio, Vancouver, and London. It features 3 new weapons: Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon light machine gun. Six new human N7 classes are also available: Destroyer, Paladin, Demolisher, Slayer, Shadow, and Fury!

Via Something Awful/BioWare Forums: http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...69248&pagenumber=571&perpage=40#post405462143

New game mode confirmed: Platinum

(Adept) N7 Fury: Throw, Annihilation Field, Dark Channel

(Soldier) N7 Destroyer: Multi-Frag Grenade, Missile Launcher, Devastator Mode, T5-V battlesuit? http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-stare.gif

(Engineer) N7 Demolisher: Homing Grenade, Arc Grenade, Supply Pylon

(Sentinel) N7 Paladin: Snap Freeze, Incinerate, Energy Drain

(Infiltrator) N7 Shadow: Tactical Cloak, Shadow Strike, Electric Slash

(Vanguard) N7 Slayer: Phase Disruptor, Biotic Charge, Biotic Slash, has a guddam sword *is Kai Leng I'm assuming*

Fury: "Fury operatives use implants to fuel biotics and their incredible
movement speed. These operatives wind an unpredictable path on the
battlefield, moving in and out of combat before returning to unleash a
sweeping biotic attack on their unsuspecting targets."

Destroyer: "The Destroyer's T5-V Battlesuit gives these strong-but-slow
soldiers mech-like protection. Driven by eezo-assisted actuators, these
frontline troopers carry heavy weapons onto the battlefield."

Demolisher: "The Demolisher uses grenades to attack at range and to
terrorize the battlefield. Demolishers can also create a supply pylon
that stocks allies with an unending reserve of grenades and thermal
reloads."

Paladin: "The Paladin carries a powerful omni-shield onto the
battlefield to block enemy fire. The Paladin also uses the shield as a
heavy-melee weapon that, when modified with incindiery or cryo upgrades,
creates a devastating combination attack."

Shadow: "Shadow infiltrators use implants to dramatically improve
agility, making them slippery combatants on the battlefield. Their
monomolecular blades are a menace from cover and close range."

Slayer: "Slayers use implants to dramatically improve mobility. Their
dizzying sword attacks can hit multiple opponents, and the Slayer's
ability to slip fire makes them hard to pin down on the battielfield."

Edit: Release date 17th July

I look forward to pummelling puny new human classes into the ground with my overpowered Geth.

The Piranha shotgun better shoot piranhas.

Hopefully the Rio map will look nice and the human classes will all have an unique skill.

Nice. Wonder how long they will keep this up?

3 multiplayer DLCs in 4 months sure is nice, but yeah, you have to wonder how long they will continue like this. :p Maybe they'll stop once they see no one buys their packs with real money anymore, or when they dont plan to release any more campaign DLC so they will see no point in keeping people interest in the mean time with multiplayer's new content.

Do people buy the packs with real money? I'd love to see numbers on that.

It's either real money or ingame credits, but i dont think there is any way to know the numbers, only EA/Bioware have access to that. My guess is that there is probably enough people using real money to make the DLC free.

If it's actually working they might as well repackage the multiplayer into a stand alone F2P client.

I haven't played much of the MP yet, but I feel like it will take forever until I unlock one of those cool new classes.

So I guess there won't be any SP DLC comparable to Shadow Broker or even Overlord?

Oh well.

There is one coming soon(no date, but i assume somewhere near the end of summer). As to how big it is, we will have to see once its officially announced. And since multiplayer and singleplayer are made by 2 different teams, i dont think it should have any effect despite the fact we will have 3 multiplayers DLCs already.

Isn't there 2? I just started playing MP and unlocked the justicar one yesterday (the one with biotic sphere). It's a pretty badass class and I didn't even spec it right.

When people say "Asari Adept", they usually mean the original one. The Justicar was from the first mutliplayer DLC. The Asari Adept is the one you're still missing and is pretty cool with Statis specced as Bubble(that can even "freeze" Phantoms!).

Ending aside, i dont see how anyone can not appreciate the package we have received with ME3. Id love some other objective or mode within the multi but as long as they keep supplying me with new content for free i cant really complain.

I'm happy with the content, but I hasn't made me want to return to the multiplayer for months. I just hate the loot unlock system. Takes too long to get enough credits to buy them and it's randomized so I don't even know if I'll get something good.

I'd also prefer single-player content, but I know that takes time and they probably had to backtrack that in favor of fixing the ending.

Wow they are really trying their hardest to make up for the ending fiasco.

No they're not. The multiplayer is free-to-play, and that model is profitable thanks to purchasable in-game currency. The majority get to play it for free because a minority of people who want to bypass grinding are subsidizing everyone else's game play by purchasing the in-game packs.

Really good DLC model. Hope they can still manage making money off of packs.

A friend of my friend said he's spent at least $70 on it.

Another one of my friends spent 3000MSP when the game first came out just because he wanted a Quarian Infiltrator. That comes out to about $37 or so I assume, just off the top of my head.

They're definitely making money off of this, way more then they would if it was paid DLC.

Oh well.

Now now don't be greedy, single players have been well catered for with the absolutely fantastic 1.9gb EC that had less than 5 mins of new staggering BS with some snazzy crappy powerpoint slides and you only had to wait 4 months for it. That amount of single player content should keep you going for another 4 months at least ;-)

Are there any pictures of anything for this dlc yet?

Saw this over at Reddit :-

(I didn't embed because I didn't want people screaming "arrghhh spoilers I don't wanna know). It is nothing too exciting, just a screen capture of the new classes.

Yeah, i understand that perspective. I still dont have one or 2 characters that i want but given the choice of a loot system which subsidizes free content or paid DLC packs ill take the loot system every time.

That looks like the exact same loadout for a Salarian Engineer.

*Shamefully raises hand* I bought a Premium Spectre Pack back when the Asari Justicar et al came out but only one; I got the Asari Justicar. It's extremely addictive; the desire to want to unlock a new character is enough to make a person pay after having no luck grinding for credits and having the misfortune of getting no characters in a pack.

Wasn't this stuff leaked before? I could've sworn I remember reading a thread about this stuff. At least it's official. I just hope that the maps have some new objectives but I'm not holding my breath. The MP stuff is probably more significantly cheaper to produce than a single player DLC hence why they keep pumping it out. More MP maps and characters is a good thing.

Is it just me, or do the human classes sound like Metal Gear Solid 3 bosses?

Ugh, those numbers really rub me the wrong way.

I hate free-to-play. I'd much rather pay $30 for extra maps instead of playing for free and dealing with the grinding for currency designed into every free-to-play game.

I dont care for the multiplayer, the way theyre dealing out unlocks or think highly of mass effects shooter gameplay, therefore I dont appreciate the package.

Is this confirmed to be free?

Unless this is referring to something else, because it says Mass Effect 3 - Earth Pack (2.99)

http://www.ps3trophies.com/forums/p...-playstation-store-update-july-10-2012-a.html
That looks suspiciously like the same price as one Premium Spectre Pack. I'm betting the DLC is free again and the store will be updated with DLC centric packs. It's the same way they've done it before.

Yeah im not really interested in playing these new human classes if they have the same 3 skills as an alien class.
I saw a more extensive list and all the human characters were carbon copies of other aliens. The Adept had the Drell's abilities. It's probably just a bug.

Don't be cynical now. The EC was a significant amount of work, it was free and they already announced there will be more single player DLC on the way. DLC which they could have been selling already if they hadn't decided to work on the free EC instead.

That's why it has a paying model. My co-worker is currently $3,000 deep into the multiplayer. Why don't you join him. :p

Three fucking thousands of dollars on packs with random items?

Is he a millionnaire or what? No wonder the DLC is free if there is some people like that. :lol God bless these crazy dudes.

That has to be a gross exaggeration, right? What can you possibly still have left to unlock after paying the first, I don't know, $300, even with below-average luck? Especially since presumably he's also actually playing the game and earning credits that you can use to buy more packs?

Shame it was a piece of shit still. Fourth months and they still couldnt come up with a decent fix for the ending. :lol

Anyway, people still play the MP for ME3? That surprises me, i had thought it would die out once people finished the SP. I did enjoy it for a while, but it got stale pretty fast.

Well if they hadn't screwed up the ending with good ole Mac Walters and his "speculation" shit they wouldn't have had to do a free EC (that didn't fix a thing in my books). They didn't "choose" to do the EC they had no choice if they wanted to salvage the franchise. But this is a topic for another day.

I think we can easily see where Biowares focus is with Mass Effect 3 what with them tripping over themselves to release MP DLC and punishing players that only want to play the single player part of the game.

Obviously it must be profitable for them, if they want to keep doing this. So who am I to argue with the almighty dollar ...... it's not like they are "artists" with "integrity".

ME3 Multiplayer is great, Earning in game credits is fast and easy and randomised item packs keep people playing.

If people want to spend real money let them, Iv bought a few PSP's bui only with left over microsoft points.

Please tell me this is an exaggeration.

Also, are there any other PC players that are having issues with the game's netcode? The lag is horrendous. It's gotten to the point where I will only host games now, I don't remember the last game I joined that didn't have very noticeable lag.

I don't think the multiplayer DLC affects the singleplayer stuff in any way. There are different groups of people working on each stuff, and I don't see how the multiplayer (as bad as I think it is) punishes people in any way.
