seriously? all of gaf agreed upon a list of changes... and i wasnt notified to add my input? i'm having a hard time believing i'd be in agreement with half of the items on that list.

Alright alright, it wasn't the entirety of HaloGAF, but you know what I mean regardless.

So I try to take screenshots in-game and upload them to my fileshare, assuming I'll see it on waypoint. Of course, like many other things, that feature isn't "there" yet. Sigh.
Why would you even do that? In Halo Reach it automatically uploaded all screenshots to the "Recent Screenshots" page without taking up File Share slots.
Never uploaded screens in Reach. But the knowledge doesn't seem too useful until a File Browser is up.

Okay, just bad then. My mistake. There is so much more lag in this game than in Reach.

Netcode also has no affect on Lag. Lag, aka Latency is the time taken for packets to travel from A to B, subject to transmission, propagation, queuing and processing delays.

However I think I understand what you mean. When certain mechanics are networked differently the game can 'feel' laggy. For example, the Hard Light shield. when you activate it, it sends data to the host, letting it know that the client is activating it, and the client won't see the HLS activate until the host responds with acknowledgement.
On the other side there is hit scan. The lag you experience from that is that a client fires a bullet, and if it hits on the client's box, then the hit is propagated to the host, and then to all other clients. This is why bullets appear to travel through walls.

The netcode isn't bad, of course there are other ways of networking each mechanic, but the decisions that I have noticed all seem to be for the better.

I still love the story that the Halo 1 vehicles were so deadly because they couldn't get them to interact with players correctly, so they just went "fuck it" and had them kill you if you so much as brushed against one.
All the stories surrounding CE make it out to be accidental brilliance.

Does anyone else think the scattershot needs a slight buff? I get killed by the boltshot when I have it -_-

It would make more sense if they just removed the Boltshot as a loadout weapon - it should be considered a power weapon in my opinion. I would actually say its more dangerous than the Scattershot so perhaps it should take its place? They could also keep the Scattershot as a lower weighted possibility so that it doesn't totally dissapear.

No, but the boltshot needs a shorter effective range.

IMO that's the wrong way to nerf such a weapon. It's difficult to justify, but I think it's a better idea to increase charge time and rounds-per-overcharge than to change the way the gun performs (in terms of raw damage, speed, effective range, etc).

You could also narrow its spread (even if just by one "ring" of its charged reticule) so that you have to do more than sweep the target's general area. I don't know that I feel that the gun is too powerful because I just don't have enough information to say that just yet, but I feel comfortable saying that it's a little too easy to use at maximum efficiency. Since the Boltshot charged pellets appear have a hard distance cap, you wouldn't get any extra effective range from the spread change.

Does anyone happen to have the list of things in Halo 4 that GAF believes needs fixing? I believe Plywood or Nilla posted it earlier in this |OT|...

Here's a list from thc which a lot of us agree on there:

Game Announcements (Multikills, Sprees, etc.) Are Not Made In Theatre Clips
-When you create a clip from a full film, the announcer no longer is audible.

Lack of Precision Forge Controls
-Reach's Forge controls allowed players to move objects slower and more precisely when holding in the Left Analog Stick. Additionally, players were able to zoom in on objects with the Right Stick to get a better handling of their precision movements. These controls have been removed without explanation.

"X" Waypoint for Dead Teammates No Longer Exists
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

Grifball "Ball Arm Time" Is Bugged
-Setting the Arm Time to any other setting than Instant does not actually change the Arm Time.

Lack of Party Indicators In Matchmaking
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

Party Details Tell Significantly Less Details in Halo 4
-Another feature that has been removed without explanation.

Setting Ammo Count for Battery-Based Weapons in Forge Does Nothing
-Changing Ammo Count for batter-based weapons hasn't had an effect every since Forge was introduced in Halo 3. Surprising to see this bug make its way into another game.

Weapons De-spawning Too Quickly If Not An Ordnance Weapon
-Players have noticed that weapons are despawning at a ridiculously quick rate after they have been dropped in comparison to past Halo games. This makes drop-spawning weapons (which creates static weapon spawns) a very inefficient method to spawning weapons.

Games Beginning With No Players On Opposing Team
-Games will somtimes begin with no players on one of the teams. This usually occurs when an entire team backs out after a game or the game after a game has ended because the entire team quit out. This bug is costing players Double XP games.

Alphabetical Order For Active Rosters
-Really confusing when you try to look for specific players through your Active Roster. Essentially forces you to just scroll through the entire Active Roster to find players.

Tactical and Support Packages Earned Through Specializations Are Not Options In Custom Games
-It seems very unneccesarry for these to not be included as options in custom games. It almost seems as if this was an oversight.

Cannot Change Max Player Count of Lobby Once a Player Joins
-Very annoying bug. Requires the leader to leave the party and make a new one to set a new Max Player Count.

Impact and Erosion Dynamic Lighting Bugs
-Both of these forge pallets have bugged or glitched dynamic lighting when about $6000 of the budget is spent. Impact will only cast shadows in proximity of the player, and leaves the rest of the map outside of this "sphere" without shadows, making the map super bright. Erosion loses dynamic lighting entirely and selects what appears to be random tones for the pieces.

Bugged Assassinations
-Players have experienced very buggy assassinations, sometimes allowing their player to navigate out of the assassination animation and kill the player assassinating them.

Setting Respawn Time in Slayer, Infinity Slayer, KotH and Oddball Gametypes Does Not Negate Instant Respawn
-Instant Respawn is always an option to players during a game no matter what the Respawn Duration setting is set to.

Bugged Flag Physics
-The Flag in CTF will sometimes get caught in map geometry and players aren't able to pick up the Flag.

-Crouch Camo
Don't appear on radar when you put on camo when crouch.

Inability To Set Ammo Amount on Initial or Random Ordnance
-In Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, you were always allowed to set the amount of ammo weapons would spawn with. When spawning weapons through Ordnance, you do not have this option any more. This is especially an issue with Initial Ordnance.

My latest piece. The Heckfu.

Ultimate troll. This asshole in SpOps isn't playing, but backs his character into the rocks, so everyone spawns inside the rocks after they die.

How is this even a bug?

I'd also add Forge zoom to the forge precision point. Both of the analogue sticks to nothing in forge.

I thought it was ordered by time signed on. I never really noticed and don't really notice in H4. Whatevs, not against a pattern.

Was Reach Active Roster alphabetical?
Judging from image search screenshots, it doesn't look like it. Which is funny, considering both Reach and 4 have the ability to parse players alphabetically since the pregame (voting) lobbies do it in both games.

I think not using ALL CAPS for a lot of the menu items, Active Roster and player cards included, would help its readability a bunch (or maybe it's the font? I dunno). These shots of Reach menus are damn pleasant by comparison.

Wait... Didn't Frankie say he would provide a list of what was in the day 1 patch?

Are we getting multiple updates this time around?

Also, does anyone want to play? Thinking about getting on.

Yea man. All caps is obnoxious especially considering my new gamertag relies on the differences in capitalization lol. But you actually might be right, there's a certain way GTs are already capitalized when made by the user that we're all used to. It might be the all caps that's making us take longer to recognize the names.

It's both the cruise control caps lock and the font, but just putting them in proper case will make it easier to read.

Order by those in your XBL party, then alphabetical. Or even XBL party, current mode (War Games, SpOps, Campaign), then alphabetical.

Dude just sent me a message saying "NeoGAF rocks" then apologized for his team. It's funny that people "look up" to this community, I think some of the posters here would do better by remembering that.

Game is a lot of fun with peoples. Thanks for the games MXW, even if I only played a few with ya. Oddball is a lot of fun, gonna have to play that some more.

Zoom bug?

If you have a sniper and zoom once, then hold zoom..letting go zooms out, and clicking zooms in again instead of out.
