Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

So the real reason that the VGAs have a look at Spartan Ops is because part two of season 1 won't start until 2013? Is that confirmed?

No, pay attention. Spike edited in the announcer to say killtacular as though everyone in the commercial is playing MP but they show footage from the Campaign.

"Killing spree" sounds like the Halo 2 Steitzer

Semi-power weapon like the Needler or SAW. It's purpose isn't to rack up kills like a full power weapon like the Rocket, Sniper, or Shotgun. And I don't even know what you're rambling on about it having a single clip.

The long range counter is the sniper. The long range counter to every weapon is the sniper. The DMR is countered by teamwork. Yep. Just like every other semi-power weapon. A 1 on 1 against a competent player using the Needler will result in the Needler user winning. A 1 on 1 encounter against a SAW user will result in the SAW user winning. Guess what? The DMR is the same way.

Come at me with a BR. I will dong upon you at any range with my DMR all day until I run out of ammo, which is surprisingly more than 1 clip.

And if you're bringing host/offhost into this, anything can happen. You might get a Halo 3 bloodshot, you might be teleporting like crazy.

And again I don't even know or understand what the last paragraph is rambling about.

I had more written out, but I think I'm gonna save that for another post on sandbox design.

1. Sure if they give the DMR pick up max ammo but usually pick ups are half ammo, so the potential kills are a lot less than that of say a sniper pick up.

2. The saw or needler will not counter a DMR at long range, no way.

3. If you're at close range the DMR is more often than not beaten by the AR, BR, needler, saw, shotgun, bolt shot, pp bursts and melee, grenade and melee...blah blah.

4. At mid to long range the DMR will win over a BR but at close range a competent BR user will beat a competent DMR user. At mid range the needler is a mixed bag vs. the DMR but a long range the needler rarely stands a chance. Same goes for the saw as the needler.

My points being that the DMR is more or less fine where it is in the sandbox. If the Carbine & Light Rifle were both made hitscan instead of progressive based weapons then we would see a larger variety of those weapons being used with online multiplayer and therefore the DMR wouldn't be the powerhouse that it is for the most part. For the record I actually like the DMR in this sandbox.

Only the BR & DMR are precision weapons with hitscan implemented. If your DMR is winning at all ranges I suspect you have host or a regular party where you are close to the host and therefore have highly effective DMR hit detection/damage as well as always being within host latency usurping what is going on in game. I'm not trying to say you're not skilled but just highlighting there are wide ranging results based on locality of players in game and what weapons they choose to use as well as the results from the host accepting or rejecting such happenings.

If I know my party has gotten host then I'll try the light rifle for example but more often than not US players have host so I'm forced to use hitscan based weapons. This is still a lopsided confrontation but I understand that when playing online.

To me close range weapons do their job at close range. Mid range weapons are mixed between true mid range weapons and long range weapons. Long range weapons are great at their full long range and do mix into mid range as well. Overall it's not like the DMR is going to beat a bolt shot at close range or the saw is going to beat a DMR at long range so I really don't get all the DMR hate. Maybe it could have a slight nerf but then the BR would become the dominant weapon.

I think making all 4 precision weapons hitscan would result in more variety for online play rather than just picking the BR or DMR as the dominant one.

What do you not understand about "semi-power weapon"?

So are you actually trying to say keep the BR in loadouts but make the DMR a pickup? Is that your point?

If it is then I strongly disagree. I've had the BR in Halo 2 & 3, then I had bloom DMR and TU DMR plus that changing every other game in Reach.

Now with Halo 4 I have the consistent DMR I've always wanted and you want to what...favour the BR once again? I'm not down with that.

Spartan Ops. =/

This happens every week, just formally move the damn things to Thursday or even Monday.

But then it would be put up on Fridays or Tuesdays!
And what was last week's embargo for? Crimson? A map pack? Really?
So anyone else think they should really add assault back in with that extraction bomb thing?
All for it. But I don't understand how Griffball, a gametype derived from Assault, can't be edited back to assault.

I can't imagine them embargoing a TU.

Well Halo embargoes are usually content driven so we have the game out, story out, SPOPS out, map packs out, FUD out, unlocks out, CSR out...hmmm an embargo for what exactly is the question?

SPOPS being on pause until the new year?

Rank details?

Maybe one big update across the whole game, settings, playlists, TU, ranks etc?

My guess is more gameplay for the new maps (Gamespot, Machinima, Gametrailers etc), IGN gets the jump as usual then the reviewers come out and do their videos.

someone from 343 send me some codes, i can show awesome gameplay yo.

Yeah, that gives me something else to complain about.. The FUD armor still sucks. :lol

So awkward looking.

I beg to differ. Looks amazing in person. Then again, armor made for a nearly 7 ft guy is going to look awkward on whoever they have wearing it in that commercial. You can see it in the neck very clearly. so much bunching!

I can see Ranks/major change list something a company would want to make a big deal about so maybe?

It sucks that 343 Industries' transparency is still clouded by all of these embargos, even after release.
I guess money talks.

A Thursday Update?

Hey sweet someone posted how to hex edit gametypes to disable sprint. Guess we will see No Sprint of every gametype soon.

Instant Spawn is in there somewhere but I don't think its been found yet.

Gametypes are out, I've emailed Angel and tried to contact some of their staff on twitter but no one has said anything about potential bans or anything about the gametypes.

I also heard there is a removal of white text too lol.

Let's hope not. The maps are made for Sprint, and it's one of the best things in Halo 4.

Hey 343 just steal these gametypes and make the classic playlist (no sprint, BR starts) with lockout, midship, beaver creek, sanctuary, and warlock.

thanks

If they follow the Bungie banhammer you could play modded content online all you want but you can't share it on your file share. I'd assume that still sticks.

Team Regicide is amazing.

Most fun I've had with Halo 4 MP. Good work ya'll.

Yep, had a few games of team regicide and it's fun while competitive. Who'd have guessed.

Is Team Regicide really that good? I mean, I was kind of expecting Extraction at launch. Can't wait until next week when I find out it sucks.

edit: at least with sprint out the forge remakes will be much more playable.

For forge remake maps its almost needed though. I also like sprint but a lot of Forge maps (mostly remakes) play better without it and would be even better without instant spawn.

But small arena maps and the pit could exist without sprint :O

lol CyRen what did you write?
"Hey yo 343,
here are some fantastic gametypes that are well done and have disabled sprint, what you didn't ake optional for us in customs, someone made your work, pls add it?"

No white text also sounds fantastic, now only instant respawn needs to get killed.

Alright, for starters, every precision weapon in Halo 4 is hitscan. Two, the underlined works in theory, not in practice. There's a reason the pros at Dallas were using DMRs and that is why. Three, you need to get your argument straightened. In one you say the BR will beat the DMR and now you seem defeated that you can't spawn with the better weapon(DMR).

There's a reason to what I'm saying, and that is the 3x scope, coupled with the lack of spread causes the DMR to destroy maps. Look at the TU ZB Reach DMR and look at the Halo 4 DMR. They are nearly identical in how players use them, and it destroys maps. So how do we fix that? One option is to take them away altogether. Then what are we left with? Halo 3's spread BR making large maps inaccessible to combat from a certain range unless you have a sniper or laser. That's not good, it stifles combat too much. How about we leave it in, but have it spawn on the map. Now you've created a weapon loop(beneficial to combat), eliminated the Halo 3 combat zone issue, and not everyone is spawning with a mini-sniper rifle like in Reach.

But what about the BR? It remains a spawning weapon capable of headshots. It has spread over distance, so it isn't destroying maps. It stays hitscan like Halo 4. It still pings snipers.
