Not necessarily. I'd rather just recommend something that's actually good from outside this season rather than recommending a show just because it's currently airing.

I still think you should. You'll find a lot more fans of Precure here on GAF if you do. Would be a good vessel to try and get others to watch the shows as well.
But on the other hand, watching something in a group can easily elevate something that is average since you have all that camaraderie and can commiserate or celebrate together. ^^

I told you you were watching the wrong show! I watched 110 episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes for you, the least you could do is throw me a bone here.
P.S. You should skip straight to Smile 35. You are gonna love that one.

Beginning was obviously filming, but still pretty cool.
Then somebody eats Iori's pudding and Ami and Mami decide to play detective to find the culprit, even though it's Iori's fault for not putting her name on her pudding. This is what you do when you put stuff in a communal fridge. Then they make up an introduction for themselves plagiarized entirely from other, better material (not necessarily the show, but certainly better than these two jerkoffs. Though Sailor Moon > iDOLMASTER, even though that reference was pulled out of nowhere and made no sense. But it's Ami and Mami, so it shouldn't be surprising that they're totally sucking).
For whatever reason, the others decide to go along with their whole thing instead of just saying "No, we're not playing your stupid little detective game. Get over your pudding, Iori" like they should have. They discover that (SUPER MASSIVE LIFE-RUINING SPOILER)

The exposition has immediate impact on their lives (which is a good thing). Reflection comes in the wake of these events, leading into the start of the next arc and forms a good part of the subtext for what happens in those episodes. Like a lot of things about the show, it could be handled in a better way, but it's hard to dwell on its deficiencies as you move along, and see those concepts explored in detail. It's easy to say this in hindsight, but even in the context of just having watched the episode, there's faith in the competence of the writing to carry things through, and in having that long 'dump' be something worthwhile.
Buried somewhere in that long ramble about 'syfy' is the explanation as to just why you can't enjoy it, though. A diet of shitty syfy shows as a youth would turn anyone off these things, but then, no one forced a young firehawk12 to watch Stargate or Lost, either. The latter might explain the lack of faith in any serialized tv.
I'm glad I live in a post-image world.

Pretty much concludes his route in a nice tidy matter.
At least I am enjoying how this show is doing the whole otome adapation.

I kept expecting that since his route was finishing up, that the otome lead was going to have an accident somehow. Fall down the stairs, fireworks accident, something was going to happen. Of course, it was a truck that came out of nowhere. That was hilarious.

Hrm, final Hellsing OVA was a monologue-fest. Still had some great highlights but I'm kinda left with a...I dunno...dry feeling. It seems somewhat anticlimactic.
Maybe I need to watch this series through before I comment on this final OVA in a proper review. Maybe some people will enjoy it because for once it's not an action set piece with a speech at the beginning and end, haha.
edit: I'm getting a real Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of Sinners finale feel from this last episode (except for the fact that it wasn't a boring pile of shit).

I'd rather watch a show that just doesn't have any of these problems though. Such a show is seemingly impossible to make when it comes to anything related to genre fiction unfortunately.

For new stuff, my favorite at the moment is Kotoura-san.

It's interesting how this thread has turned into Precure OT, this can only lead to a lot of people watching and whining about Dokidoki when it starts.
I have to say that I've never watched any Precure show except for Heartcatch, and that's because it had Umakoshi on board. I don't know if I want to join the bandwagon...

Yeah, but the thing is that it seems like most of your criticisms relate to other shows and not From the New World, since you haven't watched it past episode five. The show doesn't do what you're afraid of it doing.
I guess the lesson here is watching bad shows can ruin good shows for people.

So both seasons of Arakawa Under the Bridge are going up on CR in about four hours. Anyone know anything about it? Seems interesting.
It always struck me as one of those shows where you really need to be either Japanese or very accustomed to things/quirks/factoids/customs within Japan to appreciate. You can still watch it but I feel like I'm only getting half the laughs.

Kirika being the one who killed Mireille's parents was surprising for a number of reasons. Isn't Kirika several years younger than her? They looked about the same age in the flashback but Kirika is clearly old enough now to be a high school student while I assumed Mireille to be in her mid to upper twenties. I'm really not sure how this will go on for five more episodes.
