Son, you can't be describing the introduction of Asuka and her interactions with the cast as filler! Evangelion is a character study, after all (right?) and so to have a meaningful character study you need characters that change up the dynamic. There aren't any episodes in Evangelion that actually qualify as filler however there are parts of episodes which are largely composed of flashbacks (this becomes more noticeable and problematic as the series progresses, just like in Nadia) that don't add anything to the story.

If you like static moments you're going to love some of the later episodes!
They're presented in the way the characters view them. Either way, it's not a problem with the direction.

I don't? The reasons why I dislike Mayaka and Midori are totally different.
I didn't say it was bad, in fact I enjoyed the directing at times as it helped make up for the mundane material. However I could easily see that perspective that the director wanted to do something more grandiose.

I was just about to link the second video myself; I still remember how that scene came to be: originally Yoshida was going to do traditional character animation but Imaishi found that boring and decided to give him complex mecha action to get him out of his confort zone.

Also for all the shit the sound direction rightfully deserves, I do like the sound effect associated with the Rukh. It really fits the associated swarming visual. Of course I typed that before seeing the credits and now the Rukh creep me out like those red birds in Windaria.

Yea I know. I remember some of the stuff that duckroll linked to in regards to interviews from the staff. However I can understand the impression the show gives in that regards.
Doesn't matter if you haven't picked anything new up, just wondering how many titles are on each person's schedule, older shows included.

I'm on the exact same amount of airing shows after dropping Sasami-san and picking up Mondaiji-tachi and GJ-bu. Other than that I've been doing the usual watch of two other shows while I watch airing shows (right now it's Gintama and Texhnolyze).

Well good call on his part. If that's what Yoshida is capable of when doing mecha scenes, then by god he should do more.
I also wonder how people figure out who worked on specific scenes. Are there credits that list who worked on which timeframes? That's something I'm really curious about. That said, holy shit at that second link. He really is topnotch. I mostly think about his distinctive character designs but he really can animate. I don't think he did the mecha scenes though in 14 judging by 7th's comment.

That was the worst part. What truly makes him the biggest piece of shit in the history of not just anime but all entertainment ever wasn't just that he was lying to Kotonoha and stringing her along, it's that the only reason he did was because he was too much of a pathetic weasel coward to face her and break it off with her for good. What a piece of shit. Fuck Makoto. Where's that burning Makoto gif when you need it?

I get the feeling he's not that much into animation anymore. He obviously likes to diversify. Even in AO he was pretty hands off, save for some key scenes (mostly doing character designs and promo art work otherwise). Personally though, more than him being involved in animation I would like to see him work as a character designer for more shows. Like, G-Reko, or Space Dandy. Whatever really, just get him onto it.
