All the Sony hardware combined doesn't even equal the DS's sales (45.5K vs. 46K), let alone Wii's. This is insane
Guess they can't use the "Playstation family" line in PR anymore, huh.

Expect Canadian July numbers to show GBA > PS3 again, even with the PS3 price drop. Why? It seems EBGames across Canada (although not all of them, but some in Calgary and Ontario) have a GBA (Micro) sale to $29.99 and GBA SP is $29.99 at some stores too. Looks like they're clearing stock since most people would otherwise opt for the DS Lite which can play GBA games anyways for $50 more (over the regular GBA price).

Okay, this definitely helps explain the massive jump in Canadian GBA sales. I won't be expecting 110,000 for it in Monday's NPD then :lol

Wario please.

It'd be even better if they made an audio press release. Especially if he does his well known laugh after announcing PS3's sales.

Europe number from this http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5228&Itemid=2 (the same report announcing Wii had hit 2 million in Japan and 6.5 million worldwide)

That article is from April 13, as you previously said.

Nintendo shipped 5.8-5.9 million (5.86?) by March 31, 2007. By April 13, the Wii was at 2 million in Japan. March NPD had not been released, though (released on April 19th). By February NPD, Wii was at 1.85 million in U.S. (2 million for U.S. + Canada).

In short, it looks like the article was using a questionable shipment number (6.5 million), correct Japanese sales, guessed (ioi, maybe?) NA sales through March, and then a calculated Europe number based on their questionable shipment number and the guessed NA total.

Here's a press release from June 21.

The unprecedented success of the Nintendo DS has helped to expand the gaming audience more than ever before and is the fastest selling console to reach the 10 million mark in European history, now with sales of almost 12 million, while the newly released Wii has already sold approximately 2 million in Europe since launch.
