Captain Marvel 2

My honest opinion regarding the Brie Speech topic:

I think her heart was in the right place, it was the either that speech or another interview at around the same time where she uses statistics backing the idea that white males strongly dominating mainstream movie coverage and/or reviews.

I think it's fair to point out that statistic.

Now, when she said something along the lines of "I don't care what middle-aged white dudes think about (A Winkle In Time, I think?)," I can understand how that could be perceived as somewhat antagonistic, dismissive, and combative. I not sure that was a great choice of words. I think a lot of people behind the scenes probably wish she had taken a slightly more diplomatic approach to getting her original point across, a point I personally believe is somewhat valid.

basically, anytime a whole group of people, especially a majority, is lumped together in some sort I generalization it's just bound to get messy

It wasn't a great point though. Just about anybody can be a movie critic these days so gatekeeping isn't the great crisis she's claiming it to be. Let's also not forget that the movie was considered garbage by just about everybody anyway and tanked hard. White people had nothing to do with that.

Let's also not forget that the book was written by a white woman with a white protagonist originally. White people have every right to voice an opinion on the film.

important to note where this speech was given. this was the "Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards".

if there was any event where this kind of feminist rant was not just welcomed but encouraged, it would be this event! it's a decades old Women in Film event. it's not like she just started saying all this at a random event. this was a feminist event and she was getting an award so of course she went off on this stuff.

That makes me think
...
Why are there separate awards for male and female 'actors' these days??

oh man i heard about this movie today. it is going to upset manbabies! i read it in an article. written by a man. he was complaining about other men who never have sex. it was like the first sentence in an article about the female writer, whatever her name is. the important thing is that a man declared that other men will be mad.

part of me wonders where would Captain Marvel be without any of this manufactured outrage. it seems to be the only interesting thing about her films. after the fact of Brie stealing a role from a POC.

What role of POC?

.......
Carol Danvers has been Captain Marvel for over 20 years now in the comics. Far longer than Monica Rambeau ever was.
As for Monica Rambeau, she will be in WandaVision as an adult, she'll probably become Pulsar or Photon. Just as guess on my half. But it would be stupid to introduce the character in Captain Marvel and have her in WandaVision and not have her become super powered.

Besides, from what I can gather, phase 4 of the MCU seems to be about new younger members for the Avengers.
Kate Bishop,America Chavez, Monica Rambeau, Cassie Lang etc

I feel asleep to the first movie in theaters. I hadn't done that since watching Inkheart 2008. I have zero faith that this movie will be any better.

Jesus christ 😂🤣😂🤣

I am referring sequel to a movie about a character no one cares about, that made more money than it should have, by being sold as a must see before the final Avengers.

But have this one on me

I couldn't decide between them,

It sold well on blu ray too. So people obviously like the movie.

I couldn't decide between them,

You seem to be under the impression I’m a fan of the first one. It was a mediocre movie that followed the Marvel template. It was cookie cutter and doesn’t deserve people getting as mad about it as they do. And yet here we are.

It's funny that it didn't even take one page for this thread to become politically loaded.
It's Marvel Movies, I don't know what you expect, they are as Hollywood as it can get and they always go with the trends and what the 'mass' wants to see, even if it's super cringy.
That's one of the points why I think Endgame was worse than Infintiy Wars, but I enjoyed the movie nevertheless, it's Popcorn-Action, you should know what to expect.
We'll have to wait and see how this one turns out, but I know for sure that there'll be a lot of CGI/SFX!

I'm personally happy that the sequel is getting a new creative team behind it. I enjoyed the first film and think it's better than the vast majority of comic book films out there (outside of the MCU) but it's very far from top tier MCU quality.

Mad? My dear boy, I'm just on the side lines pointing out the obvious. The Marvel universe is utter shit. The same movie made over and over.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I liked iron man 1, Captain America 1 and Ragnorok or whatever it was called, because Jeff Goldblum
Yeah those were good ones. I saw Ragnarok a second time and enjoyed it more even.

Unlike most people, the first Captain America was my favorite. The others were just okay.

I think Ragnarok and Winter Soldier are genuinely excellent films.

There’s probably 10 I would call “good” or “really good” and the rest I would say are “meh”
