Cross Assault Thread: Get Cross, taste Salt (SFxT Reality Show)

Really hoping Dr. Subzero wins the whole thing. He may be the crudest person outside of this entire show, but he came off as just a really genuinely funny guy. His saltmines interview was easily the best. I really just don't wanna see Nerdjosh take this for free though. I want some good fights.

I think the highlight of absurdity for me is that throughout the show Dr. Sub had been releasing nude photos of ex girlfriends (who are probably unaware) after everyone of his successes. So just minutes before giving Miranda all of his resurrection swag he had looked into the camera and basically said, "Release the porn". It gets more absurd when I saw that one gaming news site wrote a line about him giving Miranda all of his swag after she forfeited. They omitted anything else about him and portrayed him to their readers as an angel to the girl in distress. The man releasing nude photos throughout the entire show is being praised in sexual harassment articles.

That's the first I've heard of it. God damn.

Alright. We need to sacrifice Mike Ross on an alter to a forgotten pagan god and pray said god can undo the entirety of Cross Assault. I have ceremonial daggers ready to go. For the good of the FGC guys.

Aris' apology means very little - it's the entire community, the reactions from everyone, the stupid Skype calls and the "he said, she said" pettiness that looks really bad. Not just the "Sexual harassment is cool!" rant.

Hmm, well this what I was hoping he would do. I don't think it will be enough for his sake, but at least it explains that he wasn't trying to say sexual harassment is what the FGC is all about!

It's not, the media already sank their fangs into it before he could get that out. On top of him asking about overly personal things and such. He's still fucked in general.

Fortunately for him the videogame media circus has the conviction of a 5 year old. (See: everything resembling a scandal they've ever covered)

I'd be surprised if this is even a thing one month from now. (Outside GAF or the FGC that is.)

yeah i also believe this blew way out of proportion. i knew aris only said what he said out of anger without clearing out his head. i too feel more ashamed on how the fgc overreacted than any type of media's response to the whole situation especially certain people who are looking for attention out of this.

Why is it people think Art is in the wrong here? Sure they asked him if he was streaming and he lied, But that's not the point. If they werent talking about doing dirt, guess what? Art wouldn't have had a reason to stream in the first place.

Why would people believe Mike Ross and Jago hated each other? I thought it was very clear they were friends. I don't see a problem with them putting on a show. The only issue I could see is if the matches weren't legit, but everyone said they were and nobody seems to care about the actual matches anymore.

The problem is that what Aris is talking about there and what the furor is about aren't one and the same. "Earning respect" has nothing to do with behaving with a modicum of decency.

Good morning GAF

How was this nights cross assault? Anything special/interesting happen or is the Aris thing still the theme of the day?

And I fall asleep as more stuff ensues. Well I'm up now, anything I should archive monster?

And things are slowing down now, should I post some final stats for this thread although I'm sure people will continue posting in it for a little while?

There's also Europe. In SC5 anyway. Actually Ryan Hart and/or Skatan Milla are still fun to watch.

That's a good point actually, everyone says the "FGC needs to grow up", but it's more about a few members of the US FGC anyway. I know for a fact shit like this (Aris stuff I mean) would not fly here in Europe, and neither in Asia I guess.

If you watched WGC, you know we have girls at tournaments. And the vibe is way less confrontational.

Cross Assault has been a bad look for Mike Ross in general. You could tell when he started getting angry at stream trolls, and couldn't own up to it all being staged the first time he was asked.

Like, Mike answering stream chat questions about whether his sponsor or not gave a shit told me that the trolls were already in his head.

There was no way Ross could handle the Kappa mind games. 9-1 all day.

I fell asleep during Cross Counter Live. But I see that he went in on Arturo. IMO, that wasn't a good move. Especially with some of his criticism about it being about money since what he was doing with Jago was also about money, at least part of it. It'll be interesting to see how things go from here.

As for the final four. Do they have access to the game going into Final Round or will they be cold for the next 3-4 days until they can start practicing again at Final Round?

This stream really opened my eyes on Mike and how incredibly insecure he is. I mean seriously, I was amazed that he let something as stupid as a fucking twitchtv stream chat, where you can make a new account in 30 seconds, get to him that much. It was almost the equivalent of him making a really high production youtube video with lights and a studio and posted it talking about that %95 of youtube comments are idiots who aren't worth the dog shit that is on the bottom of his shoes, why do it and why waste the energy on such an already clear and established fact ?

All these guys care about are getting the rise out of somebody and "getting" to them so they can get satisfaction that they already hurt somebody's feelings with their trolling even though %99 of the time they don't mean the shit they are spitting on screen, it's especially bizarre when you consider that Combofiend was setting next to him reading the chat and handling it like a pro, by going along with it and laughing about it.

All in all I still like Mike, especially on runnin' sets, which the only CC show I watch and hope they get back to it soon.

Seems like you haven't watched a US tourney before they are just as non confrontational as WGC. This was just one instance on a reality that was filming for some 10+ hours a day for 8 days. He was definitely wrong but I don't think Aris is really a terrible person just made a mistake while trying to entertain the stream monsters.

Hopefully the community doesn't try to oust Aris, I like him but he did mess up and needs to own up to it.

So, after CC Live, I really don't like what's become of those two. Publicity and a fake rivalry - one that benefited Mike Ross and Jago greatly, I might add - are the most important. The business side of it is the most important.

Yet he still had the balls to try to paint Arturo in a bad light for wanting some viewers. What a joke.

Is there a archive to the latest cross counter yet? I heard about how Mike went off on Art, so I'm curious to see it for myself.

It wasn't that bad, he just called him a few names and moved on. In fact, every time somebody brought up the situation after that, he focused way more on the #staged/fake rivalry thing.

I don't know why though, it was so goddamn obvious the entire time that they didn't really hate each other. Mostly from Mike being a bad actor on stream and Jago overacting.

Add me tot the list of people who lost respect for Ross after this. Shitting on art for exposing your fraudulence is a bad look

Well this thread is slowing down and the controversy has spilled into the rest of the Gaming Forum. So with that said, here is the updated Cross Assault Hall of Shame top 20

Personally I ended up with 85. Not bad but I'll do better this weekend for Final Round, I promise you that GAF. Unless I attend it, it'll be a 5 hour drive from where I live in NC but I'm seriously thinking about it.

Just caught up with the archives. I think it's fair to say that Hornett deserved the last spot. Even though he didn't he perform well in the team challenges, he still managed to beat everyone in the elimination matches. It sucks that Steve had to go out like this, but apparently he was just not on the same level as the remaining four players. That said, I think NerdJosh has by far the best chance of winning the entire thing. He just needs to make sure that he doesn't choke at Final Round.

On a different note, I really enjoyed following the show and everything that surrounded it. It's a shame that the situation with Aris and Miranda cast a shadow over the show and the FGC as a whole, but I'm sure things will work themselves out eventually. Either way, I'm incredibly hyped about this game, and I can't wait to get my hands on it next week.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm happy for Hornett, seriously. Dude has definitely earned his spot.

No offence, but you are wrong to assume that. Watched parts of most US majors of the year during the wee hours of the night cause of the time diff, that's how hard I streammonster (no chat though, I care for my sanity).

While I agree they can be as non confrontational as WGC, I stand by my point, US tournaments tend to be more rowdy on average, with a lot more side-betting and people getting crazy hype, especially when it's Mahvel. Don't get me wrong, we still can get hype, when the matches are clutch, when there is an upset or when it's a "rep your country" thing. It's just more rare. And quite different demographics too.

While I understand you being defensive with all the recent drama, but I'm not trying to put the US FGC in a negative light. US FGC is the undisputed king of hype and entertainment, and with that also comes a lot of BS (imo). You just can't have everything.

I actually think Dr. Subzero is hilarious. I agree he had the best salt mine interview and the best personality. I think he ultimately is a good guy, a view supported when he gave Miranda his swag and all that. He generally has a good attitude to boot. The gamer girl nudes thing is just part of his character, I don't believe they are actually his ex girlfriends. I think I remember him saying his friend Shogo was in charge of all of that and actually putting them up whenever he said "release the next batch!" or whatever.

I know personally I laughed pretty heartily whenever he said "Release the next batch!" or "Shoutouts to my #1 fan Jebailey!" (Whether that was a manufactured rivalry or not). Those catchphrases just became running jokes for his character. The fact that he would answer literally any question the stream monsters gave him (whether the questions and/or answers were serious or not) was also just inherently funny. I think he definitely brought the entertainment value to the show without crossing the line like Aris did.

My choice for winning this would definitely be either Subzero because of just how entertaining he has been or Renic because the dude is honestly underrated and works so hard at it.
