goodnightAgain, I only mean the main series in its current form. A reboot is possible.

They've been doing that since the Wii.
Yeah now seems like a good time to just end Pokemon forever
If attached, maybe. But eurogamer mentioned them used for 2 player. That's so confusing. Why not just throw in a normal controller that stays with the dock?
I think the main reason they detach is for home play. The 2-player thing doesn't make sense to me either, since most games need more buttons.
Oh... Hmm.. Wait now that might make sense. So there must be a normal controller with the dock for home use, and the detachable ones from the screen can be combined and used as a 2nd controller. Interesting indeed...
I hope games played on tv don't take a graphical hit because they're made for tablet size screens.
we've heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.
However, the handheld's side-mounted control areas are apparently detachable, becoming individual pads for two-player gameplay - as revealed in today's big Nintendo NX news story on this site.
Why is Tegra so frowned upon?
I got a Tegra2 tablet and that was utter SHIT. But my Shield has a K1 and that thing is quite beastly, the X1 surely can push much more than that.
And if they can somewhat further improve it with more Watts on console mode, it should offer more perfomance, right?
Yeah, that was a huge success, especially compared to the 3DS.
I think they've accepted that they're completely redundant in the console market and decided instead to focus on what they're good at.
I agree that handhelds as a general market are not in great shape and don't have an obvious future, but that from where Nintendo is sitting, it still looks way more appealing to make a handheld than to immediately lay off 2000+ staff or make a device that loses billions of dollars.
I think another way to look at this is that Microsoft/Sony want Western core gamers, so they've made consolized PCs. Nintendo is targeting Japan, casual gamers, and younger audiences, so they've set their hopes on a consolized smartphone, while also going out and making smartphone games directly.
Well, it depends on if you're looking at it from a console gamer's perspective or handheld gamer's perspective, which is going to result in rather bipolar responses.
Yeah, that.
Though out of curiosity, what are the remaining 3DS games? Not just ones waiting for localization, but games that are currently in development.
absolutely nobody,NOBODY is forcing you to buy shit
Totally agreed and this can be huge if you could play some big 3rd party games on it...
So we're going to see it at the Tokyo Game Show? (Sept 15-18)
The problem with vents is they'd expose the internals of the handheld to dust, debris, water etc. Maybe this isn't really a big deal but I don't think Nintendo handhelds have ever done it..
It was on Wii U.
This mirrors exactly my problem with the NX.
2 ways to solve it...it'll either strictly stay as a console or I get another NX for the portability aspect
This thread is hottake heaven right now
This direction makes the most sense for them right now if you think about it. I'm not quite sure how they plan to sell this thing (North America will ignore this thing while I can see Japan supporting it), but the concept itself sounds exciting to me. Having both Nintendo game lineups - console and handheld - on one system is fantastic.
One thing that scares me though is that they could design their games around portability instead of just making console games for a portable device. Less 3D Land, more Galaxy pls. Also, I hope the hardware won't be too Fisher Price toy-esque; give us a good screen that I want to play on and not like Wii U or 3DS where all is wishy washy to these HD-spoiled eyes
So yeah, exciting times if you haven't had your head in the sand for the past decade. Personally I'm interested in that thing but yeah, this will be a tough sell and they better bring it in September
Did Nintendo really worry that MS and Sony would copy this? Those two wont touch a new handheld probably ever again.
Why are people dissapointed at Tegra? This is a handheld...

She followed up her "badass for portable gaming" comment by saying "I hope this comment from yesterday makes more sense now." Also said "now you can see why I said closer to XB1 to PS4, but that maaay be stretching it".
So yeah, hopefully people can stop saying she's a liar.
How big could this thing possibly be?
Please be 5". 7" is too big!
People don't understand tech as much as they'd like to think. Why are people dissapointed at Tegra? This is a handheld...
people just want to play nintendo games. they're being forced to buy hardware they don't want or need to enable that.
it's a fairly depressing business model.
Well Breath of the Wild is gonna be on that thing so they might be doing both?
Yeah, that.

Is that little thing going to be more powerful than the Wii U and run Zelda better? If so, I think I like it
I feel like Voldemort lol.
Emily told me this last night. And I was always of the belief my info was about the NX stationary home console with amd chipsets and hers was an Nvidia powered handheld. So nothing has shocked me.
I'll gladly eat crow and accept the L if nx is revealed and there's no home console.
Memory Cards like the Vita. Aimed at the market that wants a device for their TV which they can take on the go, like the Nvidia Shield. Not competing with upcoming Sony/MS systems like the Wii U. Partnering with Nvidia on the GPU like PS3.
It's almost like they're taking cues from all the lowest selling devices and rolling it into one console.
