Anybody learning Korean or know Korean?

how is "ㅓ" pronounced? I don't hear a distinction between 소 (so) and 사 (seo) when I say it so I can't really tell.

소 is like "sow" or maybe more accurately "soh" - The feeling of it is round and deep.
서 is more like "saw" but still a bit of "o" or "uh" sound in it. The feeling of it is more vertical and forward.

soz, I'm new to GAF so I don't really know any of the sections yet, this is the only thing that I lurked, and the reason I decided to register. I guess I could have went and looked for something but... kinda lazy.

Haha, I can definitely see that. One of my good friends in undergrad was Taiwanese and was very proud of being Taiwanese and not Chinese. It was good fun to tease him about it, but I get that it's not something to take lightly/joke around with strangers about.

So I went back to finish the last 3 eps of Heartstrings and the most awkward scene ever played out...

The main characters are now dating.
Their parents used to be in love, but the kids don't know that.
The BF is massaging the GFs leg which was hurt.
The parents are walking down the sidewalk holding hands and cross paths with the kids.
Dude lets go of her leg and stands up while the parents let go of each others hands and they all greet each other.
In the next scene the girl and her dad arrive home together. They are next door neighbors with the other two, so that means the four of them walked home together after that.

Soooo awkward.

So I guess they will be arriving soon?

I remember seeing a lot of people who group-ordered Step getting it way late, but those weren't signed.

It's cheesy and has a lot of bad acting but it's fun enough to not care. If you like Park Shin Hye it's a no-brainer.

On behalf of the photogs, thanks. I will say sifting through some of the Korean blogs can get dicey, as there are so many attack sites among them. Would be easier, and safer, to just stick to the Tumblr types.

While it's true Kara is nearing the end of the expected kpop lifepsan, I think that perspective/trend was built in a different time. The whole scene has been changing and now there seems to be a capacity for longer-running popularity if they reached high enough heights. That said, it also seems like Korea will keep a general preference for younger celebrities in kpop for a while longer, and a group like Kara has a much better future in jpop, which has a lot more popular artists at the ages the are approaching.

Things Japan loves:
- KARA
- TVXQ
- Pretty Korean girls/women, and boys/men in general
- More KARA

I agree about the shifting paradigms. You see it across genres, in one way or another. With pop, we're getting generational changes, within the span of a few years. You wonder where those acts from a decade ago would wind up if they had debuted closer to now. Even the A Pinks of the world have it better, in many ways, than say SNSD.

I know Tiffany and Jessica are actually American. For some reason, I expected a different sounding voice to be coming out of Jessica. Tiffany sounded like what I expected.

On an episode of Mnet Hidden Track Romance Rainbows Romance that is scheduled to air on January 24th, the program will reveal the two on a date (as seen in the photos above). The couple did not seem to be concerned with being seen in public together, and very naturally displayed skinship with one another, looking like your average young couple.

Like all the other couples out there, the two enjoyed some shopping, bought some local street food, and even called up their friends to introduce each other to.

The images of the two on a date were first revealed on Mnet M! Countdown on January 19th. Oh Seungah went over to greet her boyfriend who came to support her, and very naturally, her fans pieced it together.

Not knowing that it was a fake date, some fans were so upset that they left without watching Rainbow Pixies M! Countdown performance and shared the story on Oh Seungahs fan cafe.

Mnet remarked, Oh Seungah and Lee Do Young are the same age, and are very good friends. Fans have mistaken them to be an actual couple. This is merely a chance for fans to see what the top stars are like in every day situations. Please look forward to the show.

Meanwhile, Mnets Hidden Track Romance is a new dating reality program where celebrities go on scripted dates with a normal citizen. The first episode airs January 24th at 9:00PM & 12:00AM KST.

Show is gonna eat WGM's lunch. lol "scripted dates".

There are a ton of people on the Gaf DOTA with Kpop names, its actually pretty surreal. But this thread must have a ton of lurkers. 5k posts and 240k views. Even if each of us were viewing this thread 25 times between posts, it still leaves 115k views unaccounted for. They need to come out of the woodwork and support Hyo.

Just finished invincible youth season 1. Amazing. better before the 3 girls and taewoo left. I felt like they were JUST starting to find their groove again.

Also, taewoo added SO much to that show, i hope he got an award, he was great.

Did sori ever go on to do anything afterwards?
