It's from long ago but IIRC the early exodus of talent from Konami, that resulted in studios like Treasure, was because said staff made Konami sound particularly shallow and short sighted. All Konami wanted to make were exploitative licensed games, hoping to cash in on trends. And the staff members didn't want to make those, over Konami's original franchises like Contra or Castlevania.
While that direction resulted in some classic games such as the TMNT series, Konami did drop their original games like hot potatoes, heavily devaluing them or underfunding future entries. (Such as what Iga struggled with for years trying to get Castlevania games made.)
Nothing I've seen from Konami's corporate behavior has ever contradicted this though. Once Metal Gear Solid hit it big, they quickly dropped everything to milk that as their new golden goose. Good for Kojima, bad for any other IP they'd ever created.
