So, coming off a mess of Game Gear games and the atrocious Black Knight, this is actually a pretty okay little game. Right now, my group is up to just after the part where you restore the fourth emerald, so we'll probably finish it up when we get together next weekend.
So, let's see... First and foremost, the little level select "temple" hubs look really, really bad. Some combination of the textures and the strangely low poly counts make it look like it's running on something way weaker than a Wii. It's weird, and super ugly. And of course the replacement for the actual hubs from the HD version look super lazy with their crappy map screen or whatever. Also, something feels... off about platforming with the werehog. It seems a LOT easier to die than it should be. Oh, and the stages where you need to get 200 rings or avoid hitting pots are blatant, lame filler crap. Also, the homing really shouldn't be linked to waggle, as it causes you to frequently boost when you mean to home, leading to easy deaths.
Still, it's a fun little game, and a HELL of a lot better than most of the Sonic games I've played recently. I also really like that the hidden items here are just unlockable sounds/art/movies instead of barring your progress (like the HD Unleashed) or being completely lame and useless (06). Kind of a precursor to the way Red Rings worked in Generations.
