It definitely sold really well initially. The question is how Lair was supposed to sell anything at all since it came out the 3rd (?)

I would say 200k for Metroid. I am hoping for 400k + for Bioshock...pretty please!

eh, with the typically front-loaded nature of software sales, it wouldn't surprise me if metroid did very well on august npd. it will certainly be higher than september npd, at any rate.

It's a hardcore game that is relatively anticipated by Wii owners. Mario Party 8 is a casual game and it did 200k in almost the same timespan.

that's awfully high for lair & warhawk. warhawk - came out on 8/28, so only 3 days of sales. Also most ppl probably downloaded as it came out on PSN before it hit retail, and that the PSN version is cheaper. Lair - the official release date is 9/4, not many stores had it at the end of august. Plus bad reviews.

Sucks at viral marketing
I think I'll do some software predictions first before I look into hardware.

Between the 360 and Wii, I expect almost multiplatform games to do better initially on the 360 with the Wii versions making up the difference in the following months (especially Tiger Woods). It's a general trend I see for most comparisons between the two consoles and will probably last through the rest of the year.

Madden = PS2>360>Wii>PSP>PS3>XBX>DS It'll clog the Top 10.

Bioshock will do about 350k. The hype for this game was rather last minute; it's was completely off-the-radar for most people until just before release and I don't know how will far past the hardcore that hype went.

MP3 will probably only do about 200k (possibly less) partially because it was on shelves for such a small amount of time last month. I think the hype for the game had a little more reach than Bioshock, even if it wasn't as intense. Given the history of the release date for Nintendo, 200k would still be a very strong opening and I expect MP3 to easily outsell Echoes over time.

Boogie .... I don't know what to think of this game. When my store first put it on the shelves it sat there. We sold nothing (literally zero) for about a week. Then a few moved, and then, that following weekend, they just dissappeared. I can't decide if this game will be a huge bust or hit.

Brain Age 2 = modest start. I'm not expecting a huge first month.

I fully believe that Madden will sell more on 360 than PS2, if the NCAA trend continues, at least.

Also, Tiger Woods should beat out its Wii counterpart on 360, but not by much.

The 360 could potentially have 5 (or as many as 6, although much less likely) of the top 10 games for August!!

doesn't look like NPD reported them last month. I wouldn't worry about it. It is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

[360] 1k. The Bioshock boost won't sell new consoles, but it'll sell a lot to the installed base
[PS3] -4. These 4 are the people that tried to return their consoles to the store when Paramount went HD-DVD exclusive.


I'll stake a 3 month non-ban on it.
