So, if I am understanding correctly, this is just speculation but the bulk of posters in this thread read the title, ran with it and are now making silly posts?

Sounds like a Gaf thread.

So... what was this then?
A PS4 game that's been in development for a few years. Author of the article had no business in speculating this.

They are saying part 2 and 3 might be on next gen in that quote, not part 1.
That's exactly why I'd LOVE this theory to be true. I don't want to use two consoles and put up with a visual disparity when I do full replays in the future. They really should target the PS5 with Episode 1 as a launch title.

CC2 has a great track record of getting projects done to the best of their ability, even if i'm ignoring the barb about Nomura.

Same with Osaka team and KH3.

I get going stir crazy for info, but that's no reason to go full blown disingenious

This is speculation based on a resume, but it looks like Square Enix poached at least one artist who was working on FF7 Remake at CyberConnect 2 last August

Now you see that would be perfectly logical but Tetsuya Nomura is directing this game. As we know, he cannot ship video games so even if this has 0% credibility his involvement automatically adds like 80%

Putting out tons of ambitious FF XV DLC, Kingdom Hearts III presumably still in full production, and needing to start work on FF VII Remake... SE production departments probably have their hands full.

Oh well, I can wait another few years.

Sony and Square Enix are the best combination when it comes to vaporware announcements.
This. Never again trust a combination of both at E3 again

Sony is already known to announce stuff just for the headlines eventhough it is far off, but with Square it goes into overkill mode

A simpler remaster would have been so much easier on them. Redrawn backgrounds, updated character models, maybe tweak the battle system a bit to speed it up, some relocalization. Game would be out by now in its entirety. But hey, now we get to find out more about biggs and wedge in 2046.
