Xenoblade 2 confirmed for Holiday 2017

Do we know anything about how armor works in this game?
Can we play FashionBlade again?

Looking at the Treehouse footage, enemies only seem to drop coins, potions, and the occasional material. I'd be really disappointed if they don't drop all kinds of equipment anymore.

Maybe they're still working on that...

I don't know if it's about "likes waifu" or not. Waifu come in many shapes and sizes.

Sure half naked magic girl tied to you inextricably is one shape and she can take many physical forms, some of those good art, some bad. That's separate from the problematic nature of the character type, about which, well, we'll see how bad Pyra et al are if/when we play the game. Might rise above type, might not.

There're also waifu that have more attractive character shapes to people "not into waifu."

So while I agree with you as to not liking a lot of the character art, I don't think it's because I don't like waifu--I do in certain instances--it's because I don't like the art. (I get that you didn't use a biconditional, but just highlighting that this might come apart).

I do find it bland/tastelessly sexual. But I don't dislike all sexy or cute girls in games, so it really is a question of tastelessness wrt sexual and blandness not just sexual period, in my case. And again, this is further somewhat separate from being a waifu.

Yeah, I didn't find a better way to express this. Practically I don't mind sexuality in a game, but the characters that were shown so far (or most of them) match a certain design pattern very common in certain games and anime that are popular with people who like "waifus". And I'm not talking only about the female characters (girls? women? blades?) in this but also the male characters like the MC are under the same umbrella. But yeah, you formulated in a better way, it's more about being a strange combination of tasteless and bland.

Game looks a bit empty and lifeless. But I always got that feeling from Xenoblade Chronicles games, so I think I'll pass on this one too. Hope it's good for fans!

Make a racket and maybe they'll make the original audio a free DLC.

Probably not. But maybe.

Please contact Nintendo America and UK (America should be enough) and make your voice heard.
If you have time that is, I'm definitely looking forward to the game but it'll be a pass for me too if it's dub only, been a while I've heard something so bad.
Time to launch another online campaign.

I don't understand why Monolith/Nintendo have regressed when it comes to the voice acting for this series.

How was Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii able to support dual audio and an excellent English VA cast?

Voice acting and music seems fun. Character design is 'interesting', I think most would prefer if they had just updated the design style of chronicles. Quit yarping on about waifus though, you whingers are obsessed, it's just a cartoon.

What is going on with the voice acting on these major Nintendo games? First BotW (which at least only features a handful of voiced scenes), now both Fire Emblem Warriors AND Xenoblade 2. I honestly think the voices are bad enough that I simply won't be able to purchase the game if there is an option for the Japanese audio track...

What a weird position to be in as a Xenoblade fan. Love the first one. Love X. Xenoblade 2? Love the look of the world but yeeeegads do I hate the character designs. Not all of them, but the main pair are AWFUL. Won't know what to think of the game as a whole until I've played it sure, but nothing will make me like the look of those characters. People disliked the faces in X. Those were fine, just lit wrong, should have been cell shaded to kill the glass eyed doll look. These? Nothing's saving these.

I have a feeling I would like this game, but the character design... Don't they realise this isn't appealing to the majority of people?

It's Monolith, they keep shooting themselves in the foot.
They have little to do to make this series a big seller but they keep ruining their own efforts, and character design is just a tiny part of that.

It's fucking frustrating everytime. Xenoblade games deserve better

I think this is the first time the character designs are a complete misfire for me. Their previous games aren't so bad. Anyways, they obviously have some hint of western tastes considering where they draw their inspiration. Hopefully Xenoblade 3 will take this reaction into account.

I like the character designs for the most part. I did have to pause and try and figure out how the main character's outfit works though.

Okay. I loved XC1 and I liked XX. And I trust the team behind XC2, but the voice acting was beyond awful and this could ruin the game. Firsr this embarrassment of BotW and now XC2? Come on Nintendo you can't be serious. Give us Japanese Dub at least.

I am also okay with the character design, except for the main character.

Honestly the Treehouse stream made me forget about the chara design. I can forget about how they look (and mostly it's their costumes I dislike, I'm more than fine with their faces and attitudes, I just don't understand why the Blade woman runs after the hero in her panties, no why the MC's pants have to be so comically stupid) when I'm that invested into the game's world. I do have my fingers crossed for togglable Blade character models (they bring NOTHING to the game by being physically present from what we've seen) and a return of the traditional outfiting / gearing systems of the past two games so that we can change the characters appearance to something a bit less appalling.

Did I dream or did I really see Tetsuya Nomura's name in the trailer's credits ?

EDIT : Yep.

Takahashi really hired porn artist for lulz? LOLLOLOL

I don't mind, most of my internet friends are doujin circles and 18+ game devs.

I really liked Xenoblade Chronicles. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X. I know, I KNOW this is going to be a great RPG in an interesting setting and diverse world.

But we went from kinda iffy character design to pretty bad character design to I don't know if I can handle this level of trash tier animu garbage. I don't know if I'm strong enough to overlook the shit designs to enjoy the rest of the game. It's off-putting.

We're talking Sudeki levels of quality here and I'm not even joking with that comparison.

Sounds like we got an expert.

Oh boy. I was... am interested in this one, but that trailer didn't do it any favours. Some really poor character designs over the top sickly tropey stuff and the voice acting.

The main character doesn't match up at all. Like a 10 year old with a fully grown British man's voice.

Same quotes for EVERY Xenoblade game. Are people not already tired to complain about character designs after every new Xenoblade trailer?

And eventually Xenoblade and Xenoblade X turned out to be milestones no one should miss who likes RPGs.

Put me in that camp too. Character design is something that never bothered me before, yet I simply can't stand the looks of the characters in Xenoblade 2. I love the first two games and Lin never gave me nightmares, for example. But Rex & Pyra hit uncanny valley levels of repulsive reaction with me, for some reason.

Not feeling the story and general concept also. Takahashi is still the writer, right? If so, I'll trust him, and I know that there will be a deep and fantastic story full of symbolisms behind the dumb walking tropes of shounen boy and magical girl. The stories of the first two games impacted me deeply in different ways, so I refuse to believe this will be a shallow and stupid tale just like the character designs.

On the other hand I loved the world, albeit I found it less creative and impressive than X's. And there is absolutely no doubt that the soundtrack will deliver, so there is that too. But it already lost its day one purchase status with me. But in the end, what will decide this purchase for me is the gameplay.

Funny people keep talking about boobs. I didn't even notice about her boobs before this thread. For example this moment in this video here. I've replay that part a few time just to look at her facial animation, not her boobs until people point it out.

It just looks bad from a design point, there's no reason to make her boobs so big. Just tone em down a little and it'd look better.
