Production on The Wolverine is finally underway, and the images and videos from the set keep pouring in. We previously saw video of an action sequence, images of Hugh Jackman’s new shorter hairstyle for the follow-up, and subsequent images of Jackman on a “Canadian Rockies” set in Australia, where the pic is being filmed. Now images have surfaced that show yet another side of said Wolverine, with Jackman looking plenty disheveled sporting a scraggly beard and unkempt hairstyle. The bulk of the story finds our hero in Japan, but I’m unsure as to how “Hobo Wolverine” fits into the plot.

Hit the jump to check out the images. Directed by James Mangold, the film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, and Rila Fukushima. The Wolverine opens on July 26th, 2013.

Or maybe he's doing Jumanji 2. ;P

I still don't get why they go to Australia and turn a town that never has snow into a Canadian snow covered town. Is it really that cheap to film here?

I'm pumped for this movie. Not because I want to see it, but because it may cause the original mini-series of comics to escalate in price. If so, I will sell mine.

Just found out this movie exist, very happy, but only since it means First Class 2 will be spared turning into nothing but a Wolverine vehicle like the X films.

also: James Mangold is a good filmmaker.

Aronofsky would have been interesting as hell, but Mangold is solid and definitely a step up from whatever commercial-grade filmmaker they had for the last one.
The key is whoever is hashing out the script. Haven't been following that much...

In terms of battle of the bodies, I give it to Cavill.

I really hope this flops so Fox can reboot the Wolverine character.

I'll watch just to laugh at it. It should generate some laughs on Gaf as well.
