Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines (Vita/ JRPG) announced for western release

DQ7 was a PS1 game that got a 3DS remake, so that's not exactly setting a good precedent for it showing up on a Sony system.

I agree with you I was just explaining that it wasn't about a new mainline game they were talking about just a remake that is already being done on ios which is a little different. I do have to wonder though if Nintendo has an agreement with Square on the Dragon Quest series since they have been exclusive for so many.

Anyway back on topic this game looks really great.

Man I still cant believe that they are bringing this game to the west. Since while it was a highly praised title here in Japan it always kinda flew under the radar in comparison to the other larger well known JRPGs out there.

Since you brought this up how is the reception to this game so far in Japan? I know the first was a success if still somewhat unknown around here but are they pretty positive about it with what has been shown so far.

Maybe a spinoff, like Swords!

...yeah, it may as well be a 3DS-exclusive series.

Let us never speak of that game again...

Although it was the first DQ to have actual voice acting in it I think? Not that it saved the game... Wait In the US they added voice acting to 8. So thats not totally correct, but for Japan yeah am pretty sure swords was the first with VA in it.

Game is pretty highly rated by gamers who have played it. Its one of the classics to a lot of core gamers in Japan due to the mechanics and gameplay. Generally folks who dont seem to like it are against the fact that its a lot of "begin again finnegan" with the whole build up a character, dies, passes on skills to next generation, rinse and repeat. But yeah overall its positive. Also the average person had no idea wtf the game was from the original cover too. Before the PSP rerelease and such.

Whoa, Vita is becoming a JRPG machine like its predecessor. Amazing.

Considering how the other well known localization companies in the West are also bringing out various titles on the Vita yeah pretty much. Its like I was saying with the PSP becoming the PS2 the Vita will become the PS3 and a lot of the smaller devs will move over to it releasing more and more games upping the library greatly. Which already is happening here in Japan as the exodus from the PSP has already begun. Therefore leaving a lot of titles for savvy localization companies to pick and choose from.

God eater sony! Let's do it

Sony just announced two hunting action games for release today. They're not going to pick up a third.

At this point, it's safer to assume that if GE2 does come over, it will be based on a Burst version, especially since online play still hasn't been patched into the vanilla game yet (last I checked).

I wouldn't put it above SE to not remake DQ8 on Vita. Seeing as its a Japan only Franchise and Vijta doing relatively well the past year...yeah I know more of a dream but who says I can't wish for nice things?

And for those who have played the original Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke, how does the sequel build on the concept?

Allan Becker: Firstly, although the games are linked, players who have never played the original game will be able to enjoy Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines as it starts a completely new story. But if you have played the original, you’ll find that all of the game’s systems have been greatly expanded. Plus, you should look out for some really cool things that we’ve been able to do using the Vita hardware that just weren’t possible with PS1/PSP.

SE has completely forgotten that Vita exists.

here's a question, with 3 J RPGS announced now, what does that say for E3/Gamescom, even more/bigger announcements? Type-0? Dragon Quest 8?

It's not clear to me Sony cares, honestly. They may be taking a Nintendo-style approach with the Vita, announcing things whenever they feel like it and not worrying too much about the big trade shows. It would make sense, if Drinkbox's comments about the commitment of Vita owners is true (and so far all previous evidence points in that direction as well). The kinds of things I'd expect to see at E3/Gamescom now are Borderlands 2-style announcements, and I don't know how many more of those we're likely to see.

Anyways: of the three games announced today this is definitely my front-runner. Wasn't even on my radar until now!

Supposedly its in the next update, but god knows when that is. The features were announced in a nico broadcast which im guessing looking at the JP blog post after the other 1.30 update. Though I dont have exact data on that. But the 1.30 update does not contain whats talked about here in the blog post.

We will have to see, though truthfully as much as all these updates and content is appreciated what the fuck were they doing not having it ready from the start. They also should know that adhoc party is a broken POS that has hardly worked correctly and Sony isnt exactly into fixing it.

Anyways yeah.

It looks amazing in motion

That mural of screens posted by Psycho Mantis is a lot better looking. I don't like some of the character portraits on the left bar (the eyes on some of the females look strange), but the other stuff is kind of neat. Will have to see more. Conceptually, it is definitely interesting.

In any event, there's no way Bamco would even think of localizing the game without an online mode present. Japan may not care that much about it, but the west sure as hell does.

They look weird because it part character creation and character traits are passed down though the waifu/husbando system.

Holy...shit... This game looks fucking amazing. Rogue Legacy meets a traditional JRPG with gorgeous cel-shaded art? I'll buy 10, please.

Also, my favorite quote from the PS Blog Q&A: "they will definitely appeal to the eclectic hardcore gamer and ‘Japanophiles’ out there."

I guess it will definitely appeal to me then!

Just like ramyeon said, nice!

What comments are that?

Basically that even though there aren't that many Vita owners in comparison to the competition, Vita owners tend to be hardcore gamers that buy a lot more games than the average owners of other systems. Which would make sense and would explain why all these niche Japanese games are being localized for the Vita.

I've also heard that the digital attach rate is higher on Vita than on other systems which is good news for publishers, developers, and localizers since they make more of a profit from digital sales compared to retail.

i will totally borrow my friends vita to play this and freedom wars, i hope this games are just the beginning of more exclusive vita games coming in the future
