if Germany defends flopping and simulation to draw penalties and red cards,
then it is fair game for Uruguay to defend its players' use of their Incisives

I am going to sound biased as a German fan, but neither the card nor the penalty from the Portugal game were because of simulation.

The penalty was something the ref gave for an arguable bit of contact during Götze's attempt.
The red was from Pepe being a complete idiot and losing his own temper.

I am not saying that Germany doesn't have divers. Müller, even as my favorite player, does it a lot, and so do some of our smaller guys that aren't Lahm. However, I think any defense of the two moments of question is completely valid, since I honestly believe Müller was trying to earn a free kick, not a red card, and Götze didn't even dive as he was trying to pass the ball back.

Not like Germany is the only team that dives, we don't have nearly as much of it as teams like Brazil. A lot of our players are extremely dedicated and honest, it is how they are taught to play. Some do, but to put the defense of their actions in the same category as the defense of Suarez's bite is ridiculous.

Pepe got the card for the headbutt, not the dive. It's not that difficult a concept, why do people keep saying he got the card for the dive?

That's the problem with Suarez, every team he plays for keeps defending his clearly unacceptable behaviour, in a perfect world, the uruguayan federation should be the first one to ban him but that will never happen.

and your legendary Klinsman is a historic flop master and will fix the match on Thursday for a 1-0 result for Germany and USA to advance

Muller should have gotten Yellow for simulation

anyway, your game on Thursday is fixed for 1-0 result, so why should we care?

Came here after much partying after the Greece win to say that I love the hate. All the English commentators talk the biggest crap against Greece and in the end England is heading home and Greece is moving on. Nothing I love more than people hating on my team and in the end we pull it off. Even if we don't move past the round of 16 I am incredibly proud of my country and what these players did. I know our brand of football isn't particularly exciting, but we out played Ivory Coast today and deserved that W. Great tournament so far. And whoever thinks that foul on Samaras at the end was not a penalty, is either joking, hating or doesn't understand the game. He took Samaras leg out when he was about to shoot, that's a scoring opportunity that was taken away by an illegal tackle, penalty any day of the week.
It's all good Greece. Time for UEFA to end Concacaf.

(but roll over in the quarters pls)

The card was for the obvious headbutt, not the simulation, mate. I am not excusing Müller, but Pepe was in no way right for headbutting him, no matter how light is was. It is in the rulebook, textbook red, and it was his own doing. There was no real foul called until Pepe went back and all the play stopped for the arguing. If you defend Pepe for that, you're being a slight hypocrite considering your attack of Germany for defending simulation being anything like Suarez's team defending him. In fact, Pepe's headbutt falls into the bite category much better than simulation anyways, mate.

Also, I am aware of Klinsmann being a master of diving, one of his most famous celebrations was him sliding on his chest after a goal to snap back at his critics. He started the trend, but that was like over 20 years ago. He also won't fix the match, considering he has already denied any of those claims for very good reason citing the way the US players are. Even if he tried, they wouldn't go through with it. Also, Germany will just play as themselves, they will be mad from the Ghana game. Really it could be fully tight as a contest considering both teams want to win the group and both are coming off games they want to redeem.

You know Fifa are taking Suarez case seriously when they press release that disciplinary proceedings have opened just before 1am Brazil time

I don't think we'll see Suarez again this wc

it will be a boring 1-0 match and the entire world will be watching the game with minimal fouls and minimal challenges and no bookings to a 1-0 victory for Germany that ensures USA's passage to 2nd place for his mentor Klinsmann

the fix is in even if they deny it.

show me blood, yellow cards, hard tackle in the box.. then I will believe you

A 1-0 Germany win does not ensure USA's passage.

I don't think any two teams of any circumstance regarding relationship that are both in good positions to move to the next round would seriously make strong efforts that are dangerous for them going forward. If you want blood, maybe Müller's cut will open up, I don't know. I could see a yellow or two for sure. A hard tackle might happen given the point in the game. Still though, even if it were Portugal-Ghana in the opposite position of US-Germany, do you honestly think they would be putting in the work for blood and cards? It isn't because they're fixing, it is just safe for them as teams moving forward.

Either way, it is a pointless argument, we will see it all when the game happens, I wish all the best of luck to Portugal against Ghana, and I hope Germany and the US play the way they are supposed to and make it fun.
