Really excited to see what they show, Fatal Frame 4/2 Wiimake were the best straight horror games of last generation.

Hopefully there are more disturbing glitches

that's kind that of creepy. Are we sure that wasn't intentional?

Pikachu cosplay in the FF girl's outfit believe!

Oh. Thanks a lot. I can't get that image out of my head now lol

Can't wait to see what's going to happen with Fatal Frame, there were three things I immediately thought of when I first saw the GamePad - the Camera Obscura for Fatal Frame, the Pip-Boy from Fallout and a scanner for another 3D Metroid FPA.

I'm surprised to see gamepad negativity for FF5 based on ZombiU. I thought that game showed how brilliant the gamepad could be as the Camera Obscura. They would have to add a quick turn around button so we don't have to act like the above gif, but Zero games always have that anyway. I agree the FF2 Remake sucked with the wiimote, yet I don't think it was a good fit for that game in the first place, unlike the gamepad. Capturing ghosts on that could be the best thing ever.

I might actually go crazy if this isn't localised.

They better show gameplay.

this. I really hope so.
the fact that the streaming is for Fatal Frame projects (including the movie and the manga..or anime? I don't remember!) scares me (pun intended!) about the actual coverage they'll dedicate to the game.

It can't be worse than what they did for the Fatal Frame 2 remake.

They announced it in late 2010 with a very brief 15-second clip of gameplay and a small handful of screenshots, not even as some big announcement, just in passing while Nintendo was showing off a bunch of other games, then went silent for over a year and almost a half. And then it just randomly popped up again with some trailer in early 2012. And then the random trailer or screenshot collection up until release in late 2012, but there was like no indication of anything and the info was far spread and kept pretty minimal with almost no hype or hype build-up and just dead silence between small media releases.

It was almost like the marketing campaign was being run by ghosts.

I think ZombiU controls were fine.

The thing with FF5 though is that they could try something weird (but annoying) just because they can. Like forcing you to stand in front of the TV looking around your room every time a ghost appears.

I may be in the minority here but Siren on the PS3 was one of *the* best horror games IMO. Need a new one in the series very badly.

This. Though some people didn't like it because they simplified it a bit too much, I liked Siren New Translation/Blood Curse and I think it's one of the best horror games of the PS3/360 gen.

I really, really want Siren 3 or Siren 2 remake :(

ZombiU made great use of the gamepad, it's true. But for FF, I'd like it to work like a viewfinder that reveals the spirit world version of the view on the TV. So no panning around the room, more like bringing the pad up in front of your view of the TV to transform it.

I don't think ZombiU is the best basis for Fatal Frame. I know they're both horror games and ZombiU is very good, but honestly they're very, very different games. Also Fatal Frame at least so far hasn't really lost its way from its survival-horror roots than say, Resident Evil or Silent Hill. Fatal Frame IV and the FF2 Remake were still very much in vein of the series and were still very much horror games, and at that with a number of scary moments and good atmosphere.

The only questionable entry was the spin-off, Spirit Camera, and that more has to do with the VR technology being buggy on-top of just problems and flaws.

I honestly think the WiiU FF should just continue as it is and naturally evolve as it did with FFIV rather than look to ZombiU for inspiration, which is a good game again but very, very different to the FF series.

And yes, I would like a new Siren game too. Though as the studio is busy with those Gravity games, it might be a while. The director says he is ready and wants to do another horror game, but he just needs the budget and time to do it.

Please localize this and do something like you did with Bayonetta for North Americans who didn't get a chance to play Fatal Frame 4 and include it on a separate disc (up port would be even better). I'd even pay for it separately if it was available though.

if the game plays normally, I will like it, as I liked it on ps2 but Id be disappointed. gamepad double screen and gyro are perfect for thd game. at least an option should be imtegrated

ZombiU is the only good sp gamepad game, but certainly not because of the camera scanning. Thank god that was also possible with the stick. Not only are motion controls shit with ergonomics that clearly were not made for it, but because of the gamepad's crappy screen, the image will never match with the superior TV output it wants to connect with.

In the end, the gamepad tries to be both the DS and the Wii, but fails ridiculously on both fronts. And it's implementation certainly should not be a major goal for developers who didn't even get the most basic Wiimote features right. I hope they are sane enough to have CCP support at the very least. But if some you keep asking enough, you might get that new pokeman photography game for WiiU and find out how tedious this feature would really be.

Oh yeah, I still haven't even started Spirit Camera because you need to play it in a well lit room since you have to focus the 3DS camera on that booklet, or something like that.

See, they like doing weird and annoying stuff :(

If they do it I doubt they will make a new Siren. Unfortunately most people doesn't seem to care about that series.

I wish they'd give Silent Hill to Toyama and Japan Studio.

Ugh, I love Fatal Frame and as much as I want to get hyped up for this, there's a very good chance of this never coming out in North America. I don't want my dreams to be crushed again.

this is your opinion.
I think jt was made for such uses like this.
I hope they'll implement at least the option for scaning with gyro nor dropping this becauze of conservative players, creating alo a dual screen gameplay mechanic as the one another user described few posts ago.

as far as the gamepad i would like to see the viewfinder always be active instead of pressing a button to go into an aiming mode. That way they could up the difficulty and also have a wider capacity for scare opportunities and ghost catching.

If we start getting the inkling that Nintendo's not localizing this, then this really deserves a Project Rainfall type movement.

I'm not gonna let a high-def, brand new Fatal Frame game, tailor made for the game pad slip past me without being heard.

Anyone willing to translate the tweet in the OP?

"On July 17th, starting at 1.30 PM, we will broadcast a presentation on NicoNico focusing on the newest entry in the Fatal Frame Series and the "Fatal Frame Media Mix. We are planning to announce/make public new info on the new Fatal Frame game that is in development for the WiiU. Please turn in if you are interested."

Nothing new in there, but they will talk about (and probably show) the new game and the "media mix" part will probably focus on the movie and the other cross-media stuff they announced a few months back.

I'm hyped!

Apparently even Miyamoto will be there.

http://bcl.rpen.us/community/index.php?/topic/1243-july-17-livestream-topic/

It sounds like the livestream will be covering the movie and other media as well as the game. The livestream page lists guests from Kadokawa and Tecmo Koei, as well as Keisuke Kikuchi, Shigeru Miyamoto, Shin Kibayashi (the author of the manga! So excited to be getting news about that), Mari Asato (the movie director), Ayami Nakajo and Aoi Morikawa.

If Miyamoto is pimping it, I'd say that Nintendo is very serious about this game.

I wouldn't worry about a translation not happening.

I'm okay with this. Still not buying a Wii U until the game gets localized.

You have my axe.

NoA skipped FF2 remake though, while europe got it one day after the japanese release.

True, but at that point NoA was clearly not interested in supporting the Wii anymore. When a FF game came to an active platform (3DS), it got localized. Insert joke about Wii U not being an active platform here.

YES

GIMME

pretty much what I expect, love and hate

Miyamoto being there, he could just be there as a guest but he might have been behind the scenes since Nintendo is aiming to prove that the gamepad can be very useful

Miyamoto could be the key to getting Nintendo to publish this game in the west as well if this game is good

I was just expecting a trailer but we might get a little gameplay

we need a countdown clock
