eh i mean......you know what i don't really care, lots of people like it and by god i am not going to get in the way of people wanting to have a good old time remembering the good old days

I get what you mean, though. It's obviously playing off of some OT nostalgia. But I was expecting that, because Abrams' from the moment he became the director was trying to win back OT fans

But he didint need to win the old fan back. While I hype for the movie I Do find that it pander to much to the old crowd.

I don't think non-Star Wars fan realize how amazing it is to see this universe being shot as an actual movie for the first time in more than 20 years. It just looks so good.

Also, yeah trailers are supposed to promote the movie and pander to the audience. That's the whole point.

And this trailer was less nostalgia ridden and I appreciate that. I do not want a nostalgia trip.

I think george lucas' clumsy shit essentially is star wars and the new films will suffer from having that jj abrams brand of focus-tested sheen on it, it'll just feel like another blockbuster~

the man is a master of making okay films that you forget the second you leave the theatre. does anyone remember anything about super 8 other than the fact that it made you just wish you were watching the Spielberg movies it so desperately wanted to pay homage to?

Well Samoa Joe has taken a new Indie booking in late May. So I wonder what that means. There is a rumor that Jarrett signed a top Indie talent for his Organization that the WWE wanted. So I wonder if Joe has signed with global force wrestling who has no tv deal while people like Tommy Dreamer are getting TV deals.

Cause I don't get chance to do much but lurk, here's my thoughts on what I've seen this week(in no particular order):
  • Wow the NXT crowd seemed dead. Pretty middling ep in general though kind of a shame
  • Eugh the Lucha Underground crowd have started 'What' chants. The absence of that was one of my favourite things about those crowds.
  • Despite the douchewhats I'm enjoying the living hell out of LU every week, that Trios match was just ridiculously good.
  • Sad news if DBry has to retire but I'd rather that than him end up in a wheelchair or dead.
  • "Hey we're in the UK, let's have every european Superstar except Paige job" and even though Paige won she still got the beat down at the end.
  • At least we got Rusev being awesome again and the crowd were hot as hell for Barrett.
  • Preston is apparently an hour away from London because fuck geography.
  • D-Did Roman just do a half decent promo? Way to go!
  • Ouch at those 'Please Retire' chants.
  • Fandango is still around? And apparently over as fuck with the London crowd (or at least his music is).
  • and of course Kane....in 2015 (though screw you I kinda liked it)
  • Pairing Mizdow with the only Diva that makes Alicia Fox seem charismatic, yeah why not.
  • PTP in the UK mates! These promos are awesome.

So there it is, one idiots week in Wrestling!
Yeah, those "what" chants were started by pwg smarks that kept referring to the wrestlers by their names outside of LU. Cueto finally addressed them last month. Whether that shows up on TV, I'm not sure and it won't be for another couple of months.

Also, I would like to think my sister started, or at least contributed, to the "please retire" chants at Wrestlemania. She was pissed and our section really fed off that.

well, ya don't gotta get hot

Haha. I was just verbalizing how a JJ Abrams movie usually works.

I enjoyed the two Star Trek movies, but you're right that I forgot most of their plots a day later.

Nah, the best Star Wars movie was the one that he didn't direct.

And while a New Hope is well directed I doubt it's all on Lucas and more him being surrounded by good people.

I agree with what you said about Abrams to a degree but I'm optimistic about it.

"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" was a much better, more technically daring evocation of old film serials than any Star Wars or Indy film.

Sheeit. Sky Captain. Are you british? Almost every Sky Captain fan I've ever known has been a posh englishman.

Anyone else getting weird ad redirects on Gaf? I know it was a problem a little while back with the whole "malvertising" thing and it seems like that

When you watch the movie, the casting of Summer in The Marine 4 makes sense because
she plays a third string villain at best and has a handful of lines. So I guess she's actually ok considering her role!
also holy fuck this movie has some shitty editing. The fight scenes yeah but also general scene-to-scene transitions can be terrible. It's also cheaper than Marine 3! Miz is improving as an actor though tbh

lmao at this sub-warped tour music playin out the credits. I'd believe it to be A Day to Remember if I knew they could afford them. EDIT: shit it actually IS ADTR

It in my quene, do you know if that bret hart moive Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows is good?

Wrestling with Shadows is incredible. I like The Sheik, but it's not in Wrestling with Shadows' league. I re-watched it maybe a month ago with my friend who's a casual fan -- she really enjoyed it, too. The only wrasslin'-related movie I can think of that can compete with it is The Wrestler.

Not yet...

I've just popped into the thread and haven't read any previous pages, can someone tell me if they noticed any correlation between Star Wars fans and Bryan/Neville fans?

I'm way behind on stuff. Mania was pretty good. Excited to see where they go with the IC and US titles with Bryan and Cena holding them. I think Seth is going to have a good run as the top champion. Hard worker.

See you probably like a month from now when I watch Extreme Rules.

Hey look! Welcome back. You know Daniel Bryan is probably taking a long vacation or retiring, right?
