The main reason I'm posting on here, other than to say hello and check-in with you guys (hoping to get my name into that second post this time ;) ), is to ask how an Insanity regime works alongside other sport? I'm planning on playing badminton on Mondays, running club on Thursdays, airsoft/a 5k run on Saturdays, whatever else pops up alongside Insanity. Will this just completely and utterly make me burn out or is it possible? I plan to do Insanity in the morning before work and then whatever else at the end of the day.

Doable, or am I just going to burn out horrendously?

Looking good!

As for your question, well first you should have fun doing it. Keep in mind that Insanity workouts are 2x longer than Max 30 and on some days they require up to 90m of your time but that only applies to month 2.
Month 1 usually has 40m workouts so they are more or less in line with Max 30.
So that should give you a rough ballpark.

From personal experience I can say that it takes serious dedication to commit to the Insanity schedule.
I'm currently in a round of Insanity but this time I also try to get some Body Beast workouts in.
I don't follow a specific BB schedule there but rather do them whenever I feel like it.
Weekends both workouts since I have more time and during the week double time only whenever I feel like it.
Sometimes when I go for a run or play soccer I skip Insanity and only do a BB workout.
That works for me

Sorry, I should've been clearer. I'm doing Insanity Max 30 again :) I find it much easier to fit into my schedule.

But I've only ever done Insanity/30 by itself, so it's good to see from you that it's doable with other things. I think I need to go into it this time with the mindset that it isn't a disaster if I miss one workout because I've prioritised actual sport.

How hard is P90X compared to Insanity?

It's very very different. P90X has some cardio and plyometrics, but it also includes weightlifting, pull-ups, push-ups and yoga. It also requires equipment -- at the very least, dumbbells or resistance bands and a way to do or simulate pull-ups.

It's also 90 days vs 60 for Insanity.

Damn, a couple of weeks off can seriously dent your fitness. Just started day 1 again and my max out time has gone from about 18 minutes from the last day of my first insanity max 30 round to 9:30 today. Hopefully I'll claw it back nice and quickly haha.

Yeah, I know that feeling. Just had to start over after a bit of hiatus due to work..I hate that feeling :/ makes it much harder with motivation, too.

Hey Beachbodygaf! I have been doing the P90 program. I have a query regarding the crunches. The 10 exercises are supposed to be done continuously without any gap right except during making the transitions? Or can I take 5~10 second break between them?

General rule of thumb is, if the trainer says don't take a break, try not to take a break. But always listen to your body. If you have to stop & catch your breath, or your form is falling apart, take a break, shake yourself out & catch your breath, then get back into it as soon as you can. And over time you want to try to reduce those breaks.

A couple new things coming from Beachbody this year.

First up, "CIZE". This is Shaun T's new dance workout program. It's 4 weeks, workouts are 35-40 minutes long. Here's a video for it, and you can click here to sign up for e-mail updates. My wife expressed an interest in this so we might get it. Looks like it might be more fun & more of a workout than Hip Hop Abs. Coming out during the Coach Summit in June. If you buy it, it should show up on Beachbody On Demand Purchased Programs not long after launch.

Next, Beachbody has a complete line of workout supplement drinks coming out called Beachbody Performance. Here's the video, click here to sign up for e-mail updates (note, that link isn't supposed to start working until 4/23). Beachbody Performance includes 5 new workout supplement drinks:

1. Beachbody Energize Pre-Workout Improves intense exercise performance, increases energy and endurance, and sharpens focus and reaction time. (I wonder if they'll keep E&E?)
2. Beachbody Hydrate During-Workout Supports hydration during exercise, replaces electrolytes lost during exercise, fuels working muscles, and improves endurance.
3. Beachbody Recover Post-Workout Speeds muscle recovery, promotes lean muscle synthesis, combats exercise-induced muscle soreness, and improves muscle strength recovery.
4. Beachbody Recharge Nighttime Supports overnight muscle recovery, improves overnight adaptation to exercise, promotes lean muscle synthesis, and reduces muscle breakdown.
5. Beachbody Creatine This add-on has no flavor and mixes well with the Recover Post-Workout formula to improve high intensity exercise performance, increase muscle strength and power, and enhance the effects of resistance training.

Beachbody Performance launches July 20th. Prices TBD. I imagine you'll be able to get them individually and as a group. They'll undoubtedly offer monthly auto-ship as well.

I just want them to figure out the stuff with FDA here in Europe and get Shakeology. Having to watch the ads for their supplements and drinks during the Insanity Max 30 workout is really starting to piss me off :(

Yeah, it sucks. I wonder what the big sticking point is?

FDA regulations in Europe are very different than in the US (and then they change from country to country). So I assume they would have to change the formula slightly to fit into the regulations over here. Just look at the meds you guys are allowed to sell over there. Half of them would be totally forbidden over here :p

Just as a quick example: here in Norway Vitamin D levels are considered normal at a super low number while in the US you need to have almost three times the amount to be considered "enough". You can't really find high dosage Vitamin D supplements here. I had to go to Denmark to buy a higher dosage. It's really weird and annoying -.-

So, pretty sure all this stuff doesn't help their case to bring it to Europe.

Yeah, seems like they basically went with the $1 = £1 route. :/

The other issue is that assuming it's legitimate, you're not getting it through your TeamBeachbody.com account -- and if you're a Club member or a Coach, you won't get your 10% or 25% discount.

Not to mention they have to pay for shipping to get it and for shipping to actually ship it. That will always be incredibly expensive..and then on top of this to Norway I will have to pay toll on top of everything.

Completely useless situation :(((((

Messed up my wrist doing either yoga or tabata power... any recommendations on how long to avoid using it? It's not outright pain, and I can put weight on it still (like I can do pushups if they're controlled) but it definitely feels off.

How pull-up focused is P90X3 my dudes? I want to do it, but I don't have a place to put the pull up bar. I know you can do it with resistance bands, but it ain't the same.

Also how good is the BB On Demand stuff?

FYI, the e-mail collector to be notified about the Beachbody Performance supplement line is up.

---

Started Month 2, Week 3 of Max: 30 this morning. Getting better at this :) My max-out time isn't changing much, but I'm sticking with the various moves longer in general. Last Friday I did Speed 2.0 from Focus T25 and it was EASY. Max 30 works!

So what's the difference between those and the already existing ones? I can't help but feel they are starting to be a bit money grabbing.

Not sure yet. There are two new ones though, the hydration one and the overnight one, they haven't had those before. I'll have to wait for their "supplement facts" labels to be sure.

I wonder if they'll keep E&E?

I can only hope the new recovery formula isn't as highly caloric as the old one. I think it's a bit too much.

I really loved the original Rest&Recovery Formula. The taste was amazing and I could really feel the difference. I positively miss it :(

I had someone in the states send it over while I was living in Greece (no toll and such) :)

So I've finished P90X2+ bonus month and have just finished P90X2 about a week ago. I'm hesitant to start P90X1 as the workouts seem longer(especially Yoga) and easier than P90X2.
I also had a brief look at body beast but seemed focused on bulking up and not so much on fitness. Should I do another round of P90X2 or what ?

Beach Body On Demand will add Insanity:Max 30 to your list of streaming titles in May if you have bought the package. I'm stoked! I've done seat intervals 25 times already (I've been alternating it with the core Insanity workouts).

Tomorrow I'm starting the Beast phase of Body Beast. I'm thinking of doing two boxing workouts + running two times a week in addition to the scheduled workouts for the final three weeks. Hopefully my body can take it. I'll slow down the pace after.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
My brother decided to put a PS3 in the workout room, so I have completely lapsed from at home work outs. Well, it's easy to blame that, but really it's just lazyness. I'm still doing karate a couple times a week though, and I've got a friend that wants to get out for bike month this month.

I was feeling pretty weak before my will to work out evaporated though. I'm not sure why that was.

My brother is doing Insanity, and I tried a few of those work outs and enjoyed them. They're a lot more cardio focused than anything in P90-X, so if X2 is similar you might lose some muscle mass, but then you can just put it back on again with X2.

Pre-workout drink: I cycle this every couple months. Right now I'm using "Pre" from Optimum Nutrition, but I also have used Assault from Muscle Pharm and Beachbody's E&E.

Shakeology is my breakfast. I usually mix it with ice, half a banana, an egg (from our own hens, so I know it's fresh), a bit of milk & water and a variety of fruit & nuts or nut butters depending on what we have & what I feel like.

Others:
D3
Magnesium
C
Fish oil
Niacin
K2
Resveratrol
B complex
Melatonin before bed

A couple of these (k2, resveratrol) I haven't had in a while but I keep meaning to start up again. I take the B complex occasionally when I want some energy & focus but don't want any caffienne.

hmm..do you have problems sleeping in general? It's not good to constantly take melatonin because your body stops producing it naturally if you add it artificially..

I've found it helps me fall asleep. Plus, I'm old (50), and melatonin levels drop as we age :)

I have done trials with and without and it definitely makes a difference. Getting to sleep on time is important for me since I get up so early!

Finished IMAX30!

Might be my favorite Beachbody program. Always felt like a total badass after completing a workout.

Results made me lean out a little bit. If I had eaten just a LITTLE bit better during the time I did the program, my results would have been kickass.

I'm going to start Body Beast this weekend. This will be my second time doing so. The first time I only did 2 months of it (I can't remember why), but this time I'm going to commit to the very end and follow the diet exactly.

Although...in order to figure out exactly what I should be eating, I need to figure out what my body fat percentage is. This is always a huge obstacle for me because I only have a fat caliper that.....doesn't work very well. I also don't have anyone who could help me measure (forever alone) and when I try to measure myself, my readings are all wrong.

Any suggestions here?

OK, so I started P90X3 4 days ago, and it has been fucking awesome so far. P90X2 was my absolute favorite BB workout, but this has a lot of potential. It is actually just 30 minutes! No long ass warmups and breaks. The pacing is excellent.

Really excited to see the results from it.

Congrats Pyrokai! I'm in my last week of Max 30 myself. I think I'm going to stick with Shaun T for a while -- I'm going to do Asylum 1 next, then another round of Max 30 Ab Maximizer, and then Asylum 2 (which will be my first time for that one). Might do another Max 30 round after that. Because yeah, I think it's my favorite BB workout too.

As to body fat percentage measurement-- unfortunately there's not really a fully accurate way to do it at home. I have a scale that does it, and I watch the trend over time rather than assuming the number is correct.

I would stick with Shaun T for a while too if I had more of his workouts :p

But this is gonna be better for my goals, I believe. Do you think I could get a better reading if I had a friend help me with the caliper?

Got a heart rate monitor. So is this good or bad? I did P90 Sculpt with 4 kg dumbbells.

Probably. I used a caliper myself a couple times but only the abdominal measurement. You MIGHT be able to contort yourself a bit to see the measurement yourself on the thigh & chest, though. Worth a try.

And look -- there to be relatively inexpensive digital calipers. Here's one that has decent reviews. With the digital readout you should be able to do the measurements by yourself. I might get one of these myself :)

Max:30 day one complete! Cardio Challenge. Max out time about 6:30, though I cant say I went all out the whole time as I had to grok some of the moves. Did pretty well over all. Modified some of the moves in the second half here & there and took several short breaks. Sweating profusely now :)

Definitely tougher than anything in T25. Been a while since I've done any cardio that intense!

Today was my last day of Max:30! Cardio Challenge again as the "fit test." I maxed out for real at around 12:10 or so (although I did shake out my arms or legs here & there in the first two rounds). And I'm fairly certain I was pushing harder throughout.

Love Max 30. Tuesday I'm starting Asylum volume 1, after which I intend to do Max 30 Ab Maximizer again.

Has anyone tried Body Beast? Would you recommend it?

I've been doing a variation of body beast for probably a year now. I love it, the actual workouts that is. Sagi is nowhere near as charismatic as someone like Tony Horton, but at least he seems to know what he's doing and I definitely feel like I've been getting results. The workouts aren't overly long either, most of them around 40 mins or so.
If you want to increase in mass and focus on weight training (from your own home), it's a great choice in my opinion.

Great. Can you tell me about the equipment that you use? I dont have space for a full blown bench but I hear a ball is a great replacement, yes or no?
