I've just watched the first 3 episodes & I've been reliably belly laughing.

"You better meet your girl outside"
"I might just kick it here"
"Probably a good call playa"

Episode 8
That's heart warming. Really brought a smile

Edit:
is this about episode 9. But that episode kind of reflects a relationship episode theme. Condensed in an episode.

Nah, that comment was about the Nashville ep. When they
are late getting home, Rachel misses her niece's recital.

So started watching this the other night. Saw the mid-sex googling and was like "this show understands me". On the last episode now and I have zero regrets. I really like how diverse it is without being a show specifically about diversity (obviously has its moments. The feminism episode specifically came across a little heavy handed, but was hilarious nonetheless).
Also, Rachels grandma is the GOAT.

Watched the first four episodes so far and really dig it, though I can't stand Arnold; totally unfunny and sounds fake as shit.

It's funny, I was reading an interview with Aziz last week (on AV Club I think) about how wanted to consciously steer away from making a show that was just his standup transplanted into scripts, but...that's the basically exactly what it is. :lol The way he talks at his friends sounds like a comic talking to their audience, and H. Jon Benjamin's line about watching a "critically acclaimed drama" was lifted word for word from the Aziz set I saw last year.

Still like it, it just feels kind of egregiously stand up-y.

Notes on the Nashville episode as someone who lives in Nashville:

When they're trying to figure out where to eat, and they point over towards a building, in real life I'm fairly positive they're standing next to a Hooter's. The BBQ place they go to also isn't real. Every spot they visit is on one street in town except for the hotel which is several blocks away. There's no way you could get to the airport in 12 minutes from downtown where they were staying. That is all!

Indeed. I googled ticklers bbq because it looked good and white bbq sauce intrigued me. Why not use a real restaurant lol

Probably couldn't get any real restaurants to shut down for a few hours to film.

And I'm going to guess they filmed most interior scenes in New York.

Seems odd to me. You would think a restaurant would want the publicity.

Regardless that bbq looked really good

Really liking this show, really picked up after the first 2 episodes, especially episode 4 was amazing.

First episode was meh until the kids came in, second episode was terrible whenever the parents were on screen.

Maybe this is weird for me to say but I'm glad Denise is a lesbian, this way there can be a girl in the group of friends without her eventually hooking up with one of the guys in the group like in every other show.

We couldn't get into it after 2 episodes... the acting in particular felt really bad, as if most of the scenes were the first take...

I'm reading that it gets better, but what does? Am I still going to have issues with the acting?

if the show doesn't catch it. It doesn't.

forcing yourself to watch is not really enjoying the show
True but i also had to watch three episodes of the Wire before i began to like it (one of my fav. Tv series now).
However, this is comedy. I should have had laughter in episode one i think.

Whose acting did you dislike? I thought the parents in particular were awful actors and of course kids(ep 1) aren't reliable actors either. Arnold and Brian were really weak too but good news, I'm at episode 6 now and neither got much screen time in episodes 3-5. If anything just watch episode 4(the order in which you watch the episodes hasn't mattered so far anyway) and see how you like it.

Yeah probably not for you. I laughed in all episodes, more in some than others.

Episode 2 is with his real life parents, which is the main issue with the acting in that episode.

Finished last night, loved every episode for different (and sometimes very same) reasons. It's now in the special Tier 1 as far as Netflix shows go, together with Orange and BoJack. (Tier 2 would be basically everything else, since Netflix hasn't done a bad or even average show in regards to my tastes.)

Absolutely. It was cringe-worthy. But it's not like his friend was better. His friend's dad was pretty good, though.

Overall this is just a poor man's version of HBO's brilliant Hello Ladies in every regard, but still pretty enjoyable.

I still think Hello Ladies simply was a bit fit for HBO... it would've fared way better on Showtime or even Netflix. At least we got an ending! Loved that series.

Honestly? I feel like Aziz's acting has always been really poor in everything I saw him in. He has this kind of 'repeating the lines with a facial expression' way about this acting. I would've thought supporting cast would make it better, but they're not that much better.

Let's see how Eps 3 and 4 go tonight.

I don't think Stephen Merchant was as likeable a lead in Hello Ladies as Aziz is in this. Both great shows, but I'd definitely put this a league above

Hello Ladies is funnier, has better developed themes, more fully realized characters, and more intelligent humor and plotting. Like I said, Master of None is an enjoyable show but Hello Ladies already did everything MoN does and better too.

Also, while the NYC locations were more accurate than, say, Daredevil, I live right by the Metropolitan Ave L/G station and it is definitely not on McDonald Ave.

This is the first time I've been able to completely connect with a western show like this. I'm totally surprised that Aziz made his character Tamil like him. I was just smiling during that flashback in episode 2. Never thought I'd see the day.

The acting was so bad in episode 2, it was hard to make it through the episode. How big a role do the parents play in the rest of the season?

True, but as someone who really dislikes a lot of parts of the first ep, and ended up glad I watched the whole thing, I'd say I liked a lot of the show and don't think it was super funny. A few funny moments here and there but it was more of a contemplation slice of life and if you're like me and don't find the show super funny, I think that's the lens through which you might enjoy it. It does get significantly better than the first ep.

Watched the first episode, was sort of eh. Aziz's character in Parks was the worst of the main cast so I guess I'm just not particularly fond.

Just started, surprised to see the comments about episode 2. Pretty much everyone I know that are kids of first gen all agree it's spot on, and while cringeworthy, is exactly what I expected and that's what makes it funny and relatable.
