Based on current ticket trend from movietickets.com Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice is accounting for 39%of all ticket sale at the time of this article. To give you a perspective on how well it’s doing since ticket went on sale this morning at 10am Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice early ticket sales is looking pretty impressive. We will not know how high it’s ticket sale for the first 24 hours will end, but it's worth noting that at its current rate it could end as high as Star Wars TFA. It has already surpassed Age of Ultron in its first 5 hours.

AOU 21% in the first 24 hrs

Star Wars 75% in the first 24 hours

Jurassic World 51% in the first 24 hours

Update: After ten hours since ticket went on sale Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice has surpassed Jurassic World at 54%.

Edit: Looks like it stayed at 54%. movietickets.com which would put in region of about 200m plus OW.

Well it is Batman and Superman on big screen for first time afterall. Hardly suprising.

If this movie makes me anywhere as happy when I went to see TFA then I'll be satisfied. I'm going in with decent hopes. Also this is history in the making same way The Avengers was so I can't miss this good or bad.

Well, that sounds good.

I'm starting to actually get hyped the closer it gets to release, but yea, Still hella worried they'll fuck up the movie somehow. lol

Obviously a pretty useless statistic without knowing overall ticket sales for the period.

I mean for all we know, it could be selling at a higher rate than Star Wars ;D

Either way, hope it manages to do well. I'm way more interested in what they're doing with the DC movies than I have been with the Marvel stuff. Hope it does well enough for them to go ham with the universe.

I'll probably enjoy this more than I did Star Wars to say the least.

I really want this film to be good, even if it's not it will still get to around 180-200M. If the word of mouth is as good as TFA, it could get pretty close to it.

I want it to shatter records now just so this thread can eat crow.

It would be nice if someone went to the effort of going thru all of the box office/star wars/marvel threads from last year, and quoting all the people that said Star Wars would only do OK.

I remember one Marvel fanboy in particular saying that Star Wars isn't a big deal anymore and it would only do half of the Avengers OW. I don't throw the word Fanboy around lightly either.

I think 200m is the ceiling for BvS, which would be outstanding.

I'm personally expecting closer to 180m or so, which would still be outstanding.

Batman beats down Finn

Superman will beat down Luke

Wonder Woman will beat down Rey

And Doomsday beats the mess outta Kylo Ren.

OW record hype. The salt here on GAF from all the Snyder and Man of Steel haters would be glorious if it actually happened.

I'm sure most people bought tickets to prevent others from spending money and going to the cinema to see this mess of a film. True heroes.

Am I doing it right?

I want Eisenberg Luthor to get into a slap fight with Kylo Ren.

I think Kylo is a great character, plz don't hate me.

Just ordered my ticket! I'm seeing the 10:30AM showcasing on Friday and I'm doing it alone and I don't even care. I'll probably end up going and seeing it again with friends if its good, I hope to god it is.

I don't get why anyone thought this would flop. The novelty alone would ensure profitability.

The test for this film is whether it serves as an effective launchpad for the cinematic universe DC is trying to create.

People have loyalty towards certain brands for some reason. It's weird.

I think it will...I mean even if it's somehow not as successful as the Nolan films in doing like 1.15-1.25 billion...Iron Man 1 did less than Man of Steel (I think) and launched the MCU...but true..this is different because for the general public who might not have got the Green Lantern references and the like in Man of Steel this is the launchpad for a wider DCCE...soooo...I still think it'll make a ton. I just hope its fun.

Got tickets to see it with a few friends in the 26th at the BFI Imax.

Why are people ordering tickets three weeks in advance?

Why? Because this movie will be seen by a lots of people (it's Batman and Superman in the same movie), so it's obvious to order tickets in advance so that a) you get a seat in the first place and b) a good seat.

Pre-ordering movie tickets is the dumbest thing ever since movies (especially big ones) tends to be played at cinemas for weeks.

What if you want to see the movie opening night with your friends in a crowd of people excited to see the movie?

Opening nights can be a riot.

Opening nights can be fun as shit. Fuck, opening night for Force Awakens was the best fucking time with that crowd.

Yeah, we discussed in the main thread.

The comparisons are stupid and lazy. So many factors go into them, the biggest of which is we don't know the quantity at which any of these tickets were selling.

The only real takeaway is that BvS has some demand to it

I had my star wars tickets.....2 months in advance.

But I'm waiting on reviews and opinions before even going to see it. The only good DC movie of recent was TDK. Star Wars.....no fucking way I'm waiting to go see any of that.

So I don't have much faith in the DC universe having good movies compared to Marvel.

Any idea then how Fandango.com sales compare since a lot of theaters don't deal with MovieTickets.com anymore and the newest TV spots announcing tickets on sale now point to Fandango?

This.

Besides, the most important weekend for any event film of this size isn't the first weekend it's the second. That shows just how much demand there is beyond the hardcore 'early adopters'.

If the film really connects with the larger audience, which Deadpool did so magnificently, then the opening weekend is just the opening salvo for the film's long run at the box office.

Hope it beats out Marvels best opening.

Hell even Star Wars.

Go DC!

*sigh*

In such 'battles' no one wins except corporate PR.

BvS hasn't broken Odeon's website so they either fixed it (doubtful) or it ain't doing nearly as much as Star Wars. Can still get midnight tickets for Leicester Square easily.

interesting

star wars tickets were available almost 24 hours on movietickets.com before Fandango even started selling them. That's how I get the best seats in the house for my family and I. Have things changed that much...or is it just a lot of branches don't feel like dealing with more than one reseller.
