The 6PM Thursday screening at my Cinemark Tineseltown has sold 37 tickets. The 9PM has sold roughly 30. That doesn't seem so great for a movie that is supposedly at Star Wars hype levels.

I switched to an alt account to ditch my embarrassing tag so I could be an embarrassing Naughty Dog fanboy in peace. Ask me anything!

It is not at Star Wars hype levels. Not even close. Anyone who thinks this film will do two billion is smoking crack. It will probably be the highest grossing comic book movie of the year but that's about it.

Man guys, stop comparing this film to SW. Only way this tops it is if WoM is extremely positive and even with that I don't give it much of a chance. The SW hype was it's own unique animal.

I hope this film is successful if not only for Marvel To start marking more gritty and dark films.

TDK is the best superhero film ever, and it didn't have a JPM meter.

I think worldwide Batman vs superman can beat star wars
The release schedule is too packed SW didn't have any major competition for months. BvS has Captain America comes out two weeks after BvS. It will do well, but the torrent of release in 16 will slow down nearly every movies BO.

I hope Marvel at some point gets half decent villains and tones down the dumb one liners during fights.

What? No it doesn't. Civil War is 6 weeks out past Batman v Superman.

Gotta stop putting it in the SW lens. That's the issue with all these "trending" announcements" they give people unrealistic expectations. OW this movie will open anywhere from 150-185 million. Probably on the higher end since a lot of people may have that Friday off in the states.

Huh? CW isn't releasing in early April. It's early May.

Civil War doesn't come out until May.

I forgot April existed. It has a better shot, the Jungle Book might take some finally re-watches though.

By the time Jungle Book comes out most of the people who were going to see BvS (including second or third viewings) will have happened by then. It will have an effect but it will be minimal.

Outside of NA yeah. BvS will destroy SW in China I think.

It might do better in China, but I'd be shocked (and happy) if it made over 1.1 billion outside of the US. MoS and Batman movies tend to have a higher percentage of sales within the US compared with other blockbusters. Star Wars did as well to some extent, but that's its own thing as the third highest grossing movie of all time.

I half agree there. For me, comic book movies/shows that end up on the darker end of the spectrum tend to be my favourite. But at the same time I wouldn't want every comic movie to be dark. A healthy mix is the way to go. Which is why I love that WB/DC are choosing to go a different route to Marvel.

Very true. I didn't think of marvel movies. You are right.

The people working the counter at my theater didn't even know tickets were on sale until I convinced them to take a look at the 24th in their computer.

Thanks for your input. How any comic book fan can watch the clip of Bats and Supes fighting and not dig it is beyond me.
Probably isn't a fan of comic book movies or those characters.

Not sure why people think too much about drive by posts like that.

Instead of quoting the obvious shitposting over and over again...just ignore it and continue the discussion.

Good for BvS tbh, but I kind of just want the Avengers craze to end and for X-Men to rise again. I'm tired of the avengers and Civil War will be my last Avengers movie. So whatever is necessary to end that, then I welcome this jump

You're tired of Avengers, but you're going to see the movie anyway

I'm not tired of anything. Give me all the MCU, Xmen, and DCU movies! Great time to be alive for comic book movie fans. Especially with the diversity between all of them.

Fair enough. Being associated with the consumer products division as a temp is a lot more involved than being a temp in the typing pool.

Your job sounds really cool, kudos. :)

Thanks, but usually working on toys sucks all the joy out of enjoying toys. That's why working for media companies have much better draw then pure toy companies, which I don't want to go back to. Also. working in Burbank > industrial row in Culver City.

Love you, brother! That's the spirit.

I've said before, I'm 38. If I could tell my 10 year old self that in 2016 we'd be getting Batman vs. Superman, a Captain America movie, an X-Men movie and a Star Wars movie my head would have exploded.

yeah, mine too. I'm so happy I get to experience this as an adult though, especially with my wife.

Not all of us care about DC. The Nolan films were great, but the trailers for this (especially the second to last one) were meh. And with the trailer I mentioned, WB pretty much laid out the film's complete story arc.

Damn right! Even if I am not a fan of some things being released now, the fact that we are getting such a wealth of content is great and makes me so happy.

You will also have to wait 20 years haha.

I'm not a comic guy at all and don't really care about any company. But there is no denying that Superman vs Batman is something special. I can't imagine any comic fan not being excited at the prospect of it. Boggles my mind that someone could hate a company so much.

And Jesus Christ that trailer complaint is so old. Anybody could have told you those basic plot points like 2 years ago.

Im a DC fan and my concern is more Synder then the property itself. If Man of Steel did not exist, my hype for this movie would be at astronomical levels.

But MoS plus some meh trailers really doesn't do much for me. I'm excited for Affleck as Bats but that's about it. Cavill looks boring. Was never a fan of Gadot. So the Batman vs Superman angle fails, as it's only one character I'm excited to see.

Minus the Doomsday trailer, the main trailers have all been fantastic. The Batman vs Superman angle seems to be working out fine at least from Batman's point of view. I am still not buying why Superman is so keen on starting a fight against Batman, seems a bit hypocritical.

The funny thing is that just from the trailers I get a better feel of Batman's history and what he's been through than I have for Superman despite watching a full Superman movie and no Ben Affleck Batman movie. You can clearly see where he's coming from.

Yeah. What really got me excited more so than any trailer was the brief clip shown on Kimmel where they fight. I thought that was fantastic and instantly hooked me.
