Yeah, I blame Trump and people that give him support and a podium to talk on.

Good for the company to tell him to leave. These type of people I wish would be deported instead. I don't want them in my country.

Sure. I know a lot of racist people who don't seem mentally ill. He could just be choosing to die on an icecream hill. But can I not wonder outloud if maybe this guy is deeply disturbed?

You can if you want to continue to stigmatize the mentally ill by attributing terrible behavior to them without any indication that it's true.

It's entirely possible the women were in line first and he couldn't wait his turn before being a racist shit.

they were already sitting down and eating at that point. says in the article he accused the staff of "being rude to him"

Why the immediacy? Can he not have been in line, noticed the women, decided (correctly as it were) that they appeared to be Muslim and came at them?

apparently no, because the article says he went on his tirade after the staff was "rude" to him.

I've had people call me and my friends chinkies and start ching chonging us unprovoked. Something is missing alright, but this is not unusual.

obviously not, but in this case it does seem like there was something that happened before he relied on being a racist to be a dick to the establishment.

none of this is meant to defend him, i'm just curious what the whole story is, considering the article was vague about the reason why he would have thought the staff was being rude to him.

Who says I refuse to believe it? I'm entertaining the idea - I also entertain the idea he is a miserable hateful person in that same post.

Since when has racism been attributed to mental illness, there's been numerous studies on in human psychology on human propensity to segregate off and have possitive feelings within a group and negative feelings about another group simply because it is another group. These sorts of behaviour our heavily built in and you'll see it in all levels of society.

This is a situation where a grown man has launched an abusive tirade against women who were innocently sitting eating some ice cream, bothering nobody. I don't think we need to go looking for whatever the (probably imagined) slight was that set him off.

And you seem to be inadvertantly suggesting a member of staff may bear some responsibility for what happened, absolving the guy of at least some of the blame. I don't think we need to be doing that either.

All these racist are just coming out of the woodwork lately with no shame; they are def. feeling emboldened.

Native Americans!

Native Americans is not what they called themselves either so I don't think the term Indian is any better or worse than that.

I swear - if Hillary gets elected, I can imagine these guys' blood pressure going up even higher and half of them dying from heart attacks from the pure rage.

depends on your purpose for doing so. the purpose isn't to exonerate or justify what he did. i want to know because i want to know more about how ridiculous it is it got to that point.

it might not matter to you, but i think it is okay for it to be a detail that is of interest to some people and not matter to others.

uh, no. not at all.

Call me cynical but when I read someone asking what's the whole story? While repeating, "The staff was rude to him"..."He said a member of staff was rude to him"..."He thought the staff was rude to him", I'm immediately wary of their motives.

But if you're not being that guy, fair enough.

Your posts are feeling a bit too much like those "what, i'm just asking questions" people that have a very specific agenda, but I don't think you're actually that type, so do what you gotta do.

I'm glad that the store employees stood up for the girls; some faith in humanity restored.

.

Indians are also not past tense; we're still around! My native grandmother says Indian because that's the term she grew up with. In the list of grievances that native americans have, what people call them is pretty low on the list. I think we're just happy when people remember native americans are more than a sports mascot or a culture to appropriate at music festivals and fashion labels.

They left out the part where she shit in his tub of Americone Dream. Is that what you are looking for? You're trying to look for a rational explaination for racism, good luck.

@davepoobond - more details.

Malaak Ammari and Nura Takkish were minding their own business, enjoying ice cream cones at Andrew’s Ice Cream when a man started arguing with the cashier. When he left and came rushing back, looking at the two women, Ammari started recording on her cell phone.

The man pointed at them and said, “I don’t want them in my country.”

“I was really hurt because I’m American. I’m just as American as anyone else,” Takkish told the station.

That when the ice cream shop’s owner, Cynthia Ramsay, intervened.

“Everybody should be loved and accepted. Everybody should be welcome here,” Ramsay said. “This is a community hangout.”

Ramsay told the man to leave and gave him his money back.

Takkish and Ammari said the experience was, in the end, positive.

The women said they didn't really pay attention to him until he became so agitated with the store for serving them (he also makes clear that they're not welcome in his country) that an employee had to escort him out, at which point they began filming him

Cynthia Ramsay, 58, who owns the ice cream shop with her husband, told BuzzFeed News that the man quietly whispered some remarks about the women to one of her employees, Jessie Noah.

“I’m not going to repeat what he said because I don’t want to create racial hatred,” said Ramsay, who was present during the incident.

It was the first time she had refused service to a customer in the three years since opening, she added.

“He said they shouldn’t be in this country. He was very, very rude, and he kept saying ‘them, them them,’” Ramsay said.

Ammari said that when saw the man returning to the ice cream parlor minutes later, she started recording him.

“He was pointing at our table and telling the employees, ‘You refused to serve me because you were serving them,’” Ammari said. “He assumed we’re not Americans and that he deserved to be treated better.”

So he went in and then just started saying racist things right off the bat? There's a step 1 that we are missing. We know step 2 and 3

Step 1 was that they must've been talking about how they plan on instituting sharia law and threatened to ban pork! The guy was only defending 'Murica, dang-nammit!

Come on dude, what do you seriously think this guy needed to go off on them like this? He's a bigoted fuckwit empowered by bigoted fuckwit rhetoric, expressing his bigoted fuckwittedness.

You can wonder out loud, but also know you better back it up with something to indicate mental illness or you look like you're equating willful asshole behaviour to someone who can't control their behaviour.

::shrug:: i think it gives better context to the story. The last two articles Miles posted show that the store owner could have easily ignored the guy being a racist because he whispered something about the girls first, and THEN the owner kicked the guy out, resulting in the rest of the events that happened where he came back in and started yelling about it.

if that isn't of interest to you that's your prerogative. i think its an interesting part of the story and actually gives even more credence to the good thing the store owner did because they could have easily not reacted to the whispered racist statement.

Would've maybe bought the guy ice cream just to maybe cool him off. Maybe that surprising act of kindness could make him see things differently.

Sucks to be him though.
That's such an awesome idea. Imagine if the girls offered to buy him an ice cream just to show good faith. Imagine how mad he'd be if not only was his favorite ice cream shop full of Muslims but they also had the gall to pay for his food. The nerve!

First offense was walking in with the high white socks and shorts.

Second offense was being a racist dickbag.

I'm glad the ice cream shop owner sat his ass down.

Yeah, some people are just straight up racist. Had a dude come into my work yelling and screaming about Mexicans taking his this and that. Told the dude to chill and he said I was racist against white people.

It's possible he had a mental illness. But it's more likely he's just an asshole racist.

No, just regular America.
Trump did not create this, it was here long before him and it will be here long after he disappears from the spotlight.
Hell the republican party was this before Trump's nonsense.

Great post.

Don't worry, I'm saving 4chan pro-Trump posts so I can paste them together like I did for R-money's after the general last time. /pol/ was a total shitstorm for weeks afterward and ended up getting shut down because of racism for a few days.
Shit, I remember that! 4chan was god-tier on election night. All the election threads on /sp/, that big-ass "WE PRESIDENT AGAIN" banner Moot put up, and especially all the /pol/ tears.

"You're racist... and this is on tape!"

I mean, what was this numbskull's problem, this girl couldn't sound more American if she tried, it was almost a parody, I expected her to say "like, oooh my gooooood!"

“He was pointing at our table and telling the employees, ‘You refused to serve me because you were serving them,’”

That's cause they were before you, dick.

And I love how he tells the ice cream people that he doesn't want them in his country, like Baskin Robbins has any authority in that area.

If you have even a twinge of an accent in your voice, then you become an illegal immigrant. I've seen it firsthand. You could be as white as an albino, but if you pronounce even one letter differently, then you need to learn English if you want to live here.

It's really sad.

Hell, we're a fucking country full of people that hate Hamilton, a play about the founding of America, because George Washington is played a black guy.

Odds Trump brings that guy on stage later today?

Fuck.

Sigh, I grew up in Orange, CA.

My dad's side of the family used to own a massive chunk of it. They may still. I wouldn't know because we don't talk to them.
