Donald Trump is so displeased with his team’s inability to lock in A-list talent for his inauguration events next month that he’s ordered a “Hail Mary” shakeup of his recruiters to try to book performers, a person familiar with the situation told TheWrap.

Mark Burnett, who produces “Celebrity Apprentice” with Trump and has been overseeing entertainment for inauguration festivities, has brought in talent recruiter Suzanne Bender, a former “Dancing With the Stars” and “American Idol” booker, to end an effective freeze-out by Hollywood, the insider said.

Performers who are known to have rejected requests include Elton John, country singer Garth Brooks and opera star Andrea Bocelli. According to the insider, many of those approached have said they do not want to “normalize” Trump’s presidency.

A knowledgeable individual said Bocelli met with the president-elect and agreed to perform, but then bowed out under pressure from fans. The individual also said longtime Trump friend and Vegas hotelier Steve Wynn had promised to deliver Celine Dion, but could not do so.

Wynn also failed to book Brooks, whom he signed in 2009 for a reported multi-million dollar four-year residency at one of his Las Vegas properties.

A spokesman for Wynn denied the claims, saying “Mr. Wynn was not asked to book specific performers for the inauguration, nor did he ever a make a commitment to find specific performers.”

Last month, a representative for Elton John issued a statement denying that his client had agreed to perform at the inauguration after a member of Trump’s transition team said the “Rocket Man” singer would take the stage. “Incorrect. He will NOT be performing,” the publicist wrote, using all-caps for good measure.

Trump's team announced that the Radio City Rockettes were confirmed as performing the evening of 12/22. Shortly after the announcement sources stated reporting that the decision to perform came from James Dolan, president of Madison Square Garden, and that any Rockette that refused to support Trump and perform would be at risk of losing their job.

The union for the performers, American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA), has allegedly supported Dolan's stance.

"We have received an email from a Rockette expressing concern about getting "involved in a dangerous political climate" but I must remind you that you are all employees, and as a company, Mr. Dolan obviously wants the Rockettes to be represented at our country's Presidential inauguration, as they were in 2001 & 2005. Any talk of boycotting this event is invalid, I'm afraid."

I doubt Dolly Parton or like Blake Shelton are showing up. Or anyone who the Grammys would select to perform at their show.

Any country singers willing to do this would probably be those with absolutely no crossover appeal, and therefore nothing to lose.

Maybe as a last resort, but these are the sort of riff-raff that Trump has spent most of his life insulating himself from. Like his own supporters, they are only useful to him when no one else is available.

Trump was promised that if he won the Presidency all the Hollywood elite and old money families who called him an orangutan vulgarian would finally let him play their Reindeer Games. This is a false bill of goods, sir, and you can all expect to hear from his attorney general.
