Master of None Season 2 |OT| Aziz Ansari's Show Finally Returns (May 12th - Netflix)

I got some
The Graduate vibes from that last shot, like deciding to finally be together might've been a huge mistake.

It's definitely ambiguous enough that it might not have been a mistake though. Dammit I need Season 3 now. Wonder if Rachel will return as an important figure or not. That last moment between her and Dev on the street certainly made it seem as if her being in NY could potentially mean something for the future.

I'm definitely not saying that every show has to be about a starving actor/barista/whatever, but that's one thing that does break the immersion a bit. The fact that Dev never has to worry about anything career-wise makes it a somewhat self indulgent serial.

Yeah, I was really into how
the last episode touches on the idea of Dev's career being in trouble but then it sort of drops that subplot in favor of the romance, which is fine for me, but yeah I would have liked if the show went into the career bit a little more.

We finished our binge watch yesterday. Good overall, but it felt like less laughs and more drama than the first season. It didn't help that I found Francesca far less interesting than Rachel. (same for their respective relationship dynamic with Dev)

Best episode was New York, I Love You. Give that doorman his own show and I'd watch the shit out of it.

Also when he was in Italy and during his friends ex wedding, his friend went up to him and said he met this really cool chick from New York,
and mentioned he should come and dance, also didn't this chick mention some type of party that she invited him too. I thought maybe he was go na find her there at that wedding.

The girl from the first episode said she was going somewhere. He probably
never got the right info time or anything so what is the point of going. If he goes there is a chance she cancelled anyway. Having not watched any trailers I assumed this whole season was going to take place in Italy anyway.

I love how he just forgot about the
black chick
and goes after another
man's fiancee
. Dev's an asshole.
What? He didn't just forget about her, his phone was stolen and he had no other way of finding her. They even had a scene of him searching for her on Facebook and google.

As for Francesca,
he told her point blank that he didn't think it was a great idea for them to go out but she still pursued it. People seem to be making her some kind of victim when it was clear that she was unhappy in the relationship and felt as strongly about Dev as he felt about her.

Arnold is so fucking weird man. I was cringing during episode 2. At the same time I really enjoy his expressions so I'm conflicted about him.

I don't see it like that. Especially when being single he knew her number was gone and that was it. Dev is just looking for love and to settle. It was dickish to go after Francesca but he felt something was there so we went after her.

He saved her number before it got stolen, no? In the next episode we see that he gets a brand new iPhone, so the contacts of his stolen phone, along with her number, should sync with his new phone.
Maybe I'm just putting too much stock in it because I wanted the Dev to be with the
black chick
lol.
Also, I don't see
Francesca
as a victim either, as they say, it takes two assholes to tango.

Saving someone's number doesn't automatically back it up.

I think I'm gonna get this, but I'm on the fence. $35 is hella expensive. I don't like this being the new normal for specialty releases like film soundtracks and vgm, lol.
Why not just buy the songs separately, then?

They said he wasn't using data because it costs to much. That would mean he would need to back up his phone. The contacts won't save without a backup.

Episode 2, the wedding, just broke me...
I'm going through a rough break up after 7 years of relationship and it was just too relatable.
I watched the first season for the 2nd time last week for preparation, and I don't know, there's really something special with this series, it often feels too close to home.
I'm not sure I should be watching this at this moment... but I can't wait to see the rest!

You're a big guy.
Note: the only episode I didn't enjoy that much was "First Dates" but that's only because it's literally Ansari's book "Modern Romance" in TV form. He just took all the anecdotes from that book and made them in to dates.

I thought that was the best episode. I thought that it was creative but in a way that felt entwined with the actual themes of the show. By contrast episode 1's
bicycle thieves homage
felt indulgent (though I enjoyed it!) and so did episode 6 which reminded me so much of a film that I can't quite place
is it Slacker that I am thinking of?
.

The dating is one aspect that feels really nuanced and real in a way that few programmes o literature capture. The research that went into the book clearly paid off (remember, a real proper sociologist co-wrote it).

It also helps that the Priya character was the hottest on the season, that the Rameniac was hilarious and the whole statue thing was great.

Could you guys help me remember the exact quote that says something about people that come to your life for a reason and other for a season. I don't quite remember the episode.

another reason why I think it's her laying in bed awake at night imaging herself sleeping next to dev. she's not necessarily reliving the snowed in night she shared with dev, she's imaging what it would be like if they could have stayed together

She would have had the engagement ring though, unless she left Pino. That is too vague and doesn't really make sense to tease. Too many assumptions.

They left it just vague enough for literally any theory to be possible.
I personally don't think there is a right answer until the next season starts.

Episode 2, around mid-episode. It says "Sometimes you meet people for a reason, sometimes you meet them for a season".

You didn't put in the Shuggie Otis track "Aht Uh Mi Hed" from episode 4. Such a great song!

Nice, thanks!

Was disappointed they went with Computer Love instead of the superior original.

Superior original version of Computer Love? Does not computer. That is the original...

that one's already in there, track number 14 in the playlist. if it's not on the playlist then it wasn't listed on that webpage or I couldn't find it in spotify. there were a couple of songs that I couldn't find in a search on spotify. one was by Ennio Morricone that I couldn't find. forgot the other one or two.

"Religion" was awesome. Even though I dont eat pork, it was still such a relatable episode. Dev's dad is such a funny guy. I loved him chiming in about Micheal Jordan and the way he says "maaaangggnnn" is so funny.

Great episode and I thought it did a good job showing various degrees of piety among Muslims.

I'm confused. Maybe it's just me but the ending did not seem vague at all. What are people thinking was vague about it?

Right before the scene showing them laying in bed together, she's getting ready to leave with Pino. Only way she would be with Dev then is if she decided to stay in NY with him and leave Pino.

Actually I am pretty sure they were released simultaneously, I just assumed the German was the original because they are German.

What else used the German version as bgm? I didn't know the song name or the band but I KNOW I've heard the song before. I don't remember if it was a youtube video, movie, or show though. No clue where I heard it lol.

Just finished this season and really liked it.
I don't think that Francesca and Dev are together and the last shot is a flashback to the night they spent together.

Finished it, loved it. The only downside is the damn
cliffhanger at the end. Now I have to wait for S3 for god knows how long, not fair man, not fair.
