Is it ugly?

I mean, it's pretty clear the Democrats are keeping the Senate, so that's not all bad.

Reid got re-elected.

The call on Rand Paul was a little early I think, as there's still more than half the votes left to tally.

Overall, it's underwhelming to the Tea Party, about right for the GOP and slightly disapointing for Democrats

Both look like they might out perform his model by a couple points when it's all in, as well.

Five minutes until a shitton of states close.

The real FiveThirtyEight forecast, however, has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 29 seats. This means that the Democrats do have a substantial chance of retaining control of the House — about 20 percent. But it also means that Republican gains in excess of 60 seats are quite possible (better than a 30 percent chance).

There is still hope.

Rand Paul was going to win this for the past 6 months. Conway ran the horrible Aqua Budhha ad (True or not is irrelevant. It sucked and made little sense other than to insult) that sealed the deal. He was never a legitimate challenger anyway since the seat was already held by Bunning, an even whackier guy that won despite being whacky.

Although the Democrats are holding their own in Kentucky and -- in very early vote-counting, North Carolina -- their poor results so far in Indiana, Virginia and Florida have our House forecast moving toward the G.O.P. It now sees a 57-seat gain for the Republicans and Democratic chances of holding onto the House are down to 12 percent from 16 percent.

.

Man, Bill White is getting shellacked.

Toomy's down 10 pts in PA :(

And I marginally sorta contributed to that via absentee ballot that might or might not have made it in time.

Oh yea. *pelvic thrust*

Keeping my fingers crossed for Strickland. In some odd way I think that might be one of the more pivotal elections tonight in terms of shaping future elections.

With forthcoming redistricting for the 2012 election, that is certainly true.

House: +57 GOP

Senate: +8 GOP

I think it could be worse, too. Every sentient Tea Partier, er, Republican will be voting tomorrow.

Where are you seeing that?

Never mind...Just turned on Fox and they had a graphic up that said D-42 and R-32 and were talking about Toomy/Sestak. I just rewound it and it was a balance of power chart...false alarm.

Me too. Weeks ago I thought Strickland losing was a given. I still won't be surprised if he loses, but I have a little bit of hope. Just enough hope for me to be disappointed later.
