Insecure - Season 2 - Sundays on HBO

It's not so much the dating that's the issue it's the fallout if/when you break up. Good luck thinking your personal shit won't spill over into your work life...it absolutely will.

I mean I've seen it up close, but it didn't seem to ruin anyone's careers. It only gets messy if the people involved are messy.

Sunday is gonna be a great day on Twitter

My TL still recovering from the fallout of last Sunday lmao

Yeah he really hasn't confronted it because he still wants to be in that relationship with Issa. I think another thing I'm seeing and I've seen with some friends IRL is that he suddenly went from nothing going right for him to a lot going well and he just isn't equipped to deal with the attention he's now getting and thinks he has to "please" everyone. The fucked up part is that with stuff like Tasha's family reunion he never wanted to go but he thinks he's being the "nice guy" by just trying to please everyone he ends up damaging the relationships he enters because of that.

He definitely needs to take a page out of Issa's playbook and just have more casual, without strings sex. For one it'll make him less angry and feeling like he wants to one up Issa on everything. That's what taking Aparna to that dinner was about, subconsciously he wanted revenge for seeing that pic of Daniel on FB. This way everyone and Issa would see he was moving on like her. It was petty and stupid and it shows how much he still wants to be on Issa's mind. Aparna was a prop basically.

This isn't a thing that happened. Lmfao. I've never seen a show that so many people comment on but clearly haven't actually watched. Because that didn't happen.

If he fucks up with Aparna I'm done with him. All Lawrence needs to do is to change jobs and by doing so he gets to be with Aparna without Fucking up.

This is the kind of thinking the gets dudes fucked up.

The same issues that made him rush into a "thing" with Tasha are still there now. It's no accident that he makes out with Aparna on the same night he gets into a shouting match with Issa, literally hours later.

I don't know about you, but "I'm pissed at my ex right now!" aren't usually emotions that lead to a stable relationship.

Aparna is a cool chick, but Lawrence ain't ready for her.

EDIT: And now people are saying Lawrence should quit the job it took him years to find, just so he can be with a girl he JUST met.

LOL, I'm telling you...

Right, because saying no to her was that hard. I've clearly watched the show so no clue what you're on. If you disagree just say that.

Dick sucking gaf please explain why Issa was mad she caught a shot to the face when she was holding the D and could have turned that bih to the side? Also, Lawrence...what the entire fuck with that +1 to an intimate dinner party? Dro...this is bad poly etiquette and I solidified what twitter been saying all along, that ninja creepin. Molly can't have shit and just enjoy it. She coulda had that jack skellington scoop through the holidays, but I can already feel her stage 5 clinger ways cranking up. Errbody a mess and I cannot WAIT until Sunday.

I don't even understand why women like Dro. He's just lightskin and tall with 3c hair. Nigga looks like one of the Monstars from NBA Jam.

This definitely was a thing, anyone whose has been in either Issa or Lawrence position knows it.

This is furthered by the fact when he tells Aparna he has to cancel their thing, he says it's because of a "thing" seconds later saying that thing was a dinner thing but that his ex was going to be there.

When he talks to Issa outside, he immediately tries to apologize saying he didn't know blah blah blah. Which is absolutely BS, unless we're all going to sit here and say Lawrence is remedial and doesn't understand social cues at all and truly didn't know bringing Aparna would be a bad look. You brought your new girl (who isn't even actually your girl) to a shindig thrown by your ex's friend (keep in mind Tiffany not really Lawrence's friend) knowing your ex is going to be there...

And the fact he still is that angry and it's been like what? 3-5 months, in which immediately after blowing up makes out with Aparna, which is the samething he did with Tasha.

I don't know it's really hard to argue that Issa isn't on Lawrence's mind and he's still consumed by her and that decides his every action, especially actions that involve women.

I think Lawrence was feeling ... Insecure ... about Daniel possibly being there and didn’t want to show up to the dinner alone. Issa’s friend was throwing the party, but the party was for his friend, Derek (as much as anything Tiffany does could truly be for someone else).

I don’t think he was being petty (Issa would have had a date there if she wasn’t a failure in the hoe game), but I think it was driven by not being over Issa.

I would like to mention that Twitter would be ablaze if the convo about givin head was between Lawrence and Chad and how they don't like doin it

But that's neither here nor there

Well she invited herself, yeah he could have said no but I suppose he thought it would be cool for her to come since the pic on FB implied that Daniel was hanging out with Issa and her friends. Why would she mind?

And he only really got angry with Issa because she was being bitchy when he came outside to check on her.

She offered him a way out as Lawrence was giving vibes about not wanting to go to the party. As it turned out, things went ok for Lawrence as painful as it was, he finally sort of got a chance to talk to Issa.

Sounds like a bit of a false equivalency imo, at least when I think of how these convos usually go on the men's side. Not that anyone should be forced to do anything they don't want to, but I'm hip as to why men tend to catch more heat for this. Whereas this show was bringing up the insecurities of black women.

I'm just fuckin around

When I talk to dudes bout goin down, LGBT or not, it's one of two answers, either they like it or they do it to get somethin in return

But Twitter was a bit quiet regarding that convo during last weeks episode

And if it was niggas talkin bout they don't wanna eat pussy, Twitter would be ablaze still

I mean, Twitter gonna Twitter, but Insecure be out here, bringing up good points about how why black women feel awkward/reluctant about doing it.

Meanwhile the convos I've had in the past with other guys about the subject are summed up as:

giphy.webp

Their arguments tend to have little to no nuance. And that seems to be a common sentiment, with men just simply not wanting to do it for superficial reasons, so I wouldn't be surprised if Twitter reacted differently. And then of course the whole matter of reciprocation. Twitter would roast the shit out of Daniel if he ever said something like that after that scene.

That said, I agree with the likelihood of people on Twitter not giving a shit, even if the guy in question submits a damn thesis as to why they don't eat pussy lmao

Can I just say i'm sick and tired of Molly's shit? She that girl everyone knows that isn't happy unless there is something in her life making her miserable. That's why she fucking with Dro - she knows she can't have him and worrying about it gets her off. Same reason she wasn't feeling that stable dude that she ditched at the party*, she's not interested in a no drama relationship. I can't take anymore of Molly's long "woe is me" looks into the camera.

*Did anybody find it weird that when she got pissed at the news her dad cheated that dude didn't even try to console her? He just let another dude walk off with her. He had to have known she wasn't feeling him.

That was him peacing out on the drama. She couldn't even remember what he did for a living.

I only really judge her for how she treated Jared, the rest of dudes, they may not have been the best decision, but I understood why. With Jared she was just tripping though.

Outside of the parents thing (again, understandable) she hasn't really been looking for sympathy. With Dro it was like, I know this isn't great, but I'm into it and now she's not anymore. It's not like she went to Issa's or that older dude's doorstep to cry about it.

Lmao so true. He was into Molly, but he's a smart dude, he knew they weren't really that close yet. At least not like, "I should be the one to console you after you found out your childhood was a lie" close.

I mean Aparna already slept with the red headed dude on the team and they seem chill. Not saying it's not possible but I don't see too much fallout coming from a couple week/month relationship.

Finale is tomorrow.

Prediction: Issa makes up with Lawrence and brings up moving in with him by the end of the episode.

The finale is tonight!

Hella Perspective

Season 2 concludes over the course of one pivotal month, as Issa, Molly and Lawrence face choices affecting their work and personal lives, with each considering whether to embrace a new future or look back to the past.

Tonight's episode will run for 40 minutes.

So its only been a month not a few months like people have been assuming.

No wonder everyone's on pins and needles, Issa and Lawrence haven't processed shit.

Thats weird, I coulda sworn they said its been a few months. Unless it means that this finale takes place over a month.

That synopsis quote is being misread. It's not saying it's only been a month since the breakup, only that this season has only spanned a month or the finale spans a month

Nah, Issa says its been a couple of months since the break up at the start of season 2.

I think the finale is either gonna take place over a month or that what we've seen in the season has only been a month.

Hope I still power in 12 hours. Stupid hurricane.

Stay safe.

Anyways, I predict Lawrence will ask Issa if she wants to move in with him since her house is trashed and she most likely won't be able to keep up with the rent increase.

I predict season 3 will just be more ex-shenanigans dialed up to 11 if they're roomies again.

Molly about to murder Dro.

I'd rather see Issa and Molly as roommates tbh. Crash on her couch or something.
Yeah...

With Issa's rent increase being telegraphed since episode one and Lawrence getting his own (two bedroom) apartment being his main plot thread, the writers have definitely laid the groundwork for Issa to move in with Lawrence.

...still, I hope the show doesn't go there. Because that would just be fucked.

And if they DO go there, I hope the friends cut them the fuck off. Because you know what I would want none of? THAT.

Predictions:

Lawrence is going to find out he's only at his job because his company needs someone Black there for Diversity purposes.

Issa is going to have some blowback over the Mexicans not being included into her study group.

Molly is going to find out that Dro ain't shit and she's just a side piece to a cheater. I think she will probably move to Chicago too.

royalan

I don't think Molly permanently moves to Chicago.

But I do think we find out that Dro is a fuckboy, and probably in an embarrassing way (this IS Insecure). She'll move to Chicago for a few months...and let Issa stay in her condo while she figures shit out.

crossing my fingers for that one.

Is it just me or has Issa been extremely unlikable this season? The Daniel blowjob thing just made it worse.

I like these characters because they're messy. The ones in stable relationships are the least interesting. I tune in wondering how they're gonna fuck up even more this week. Then when they have a glimpse at happiness, I tune in to see how they fuck it up.

What character from this or last season is in a stable relationship? Dro and Candice perhaps have the closest resemblance to that but I don't think I'd call them stable.

Idk how anyone can be team Issa though. You can't cheat and be mad and you do people dirty and then blow it all out of proportion when that same dude nuts in your face. Her and Molly are both stupid. You want to act like a hoe, it's not outside the realm of possibility that you'll be treated as one.

This brings me to Molly. Molly had something good with Jared and fucked that up and found ways of faulting a well to do person who liked her. Like what is Dro's profession? Jared had his own spot, a stable job at Enterprise but when she found someone who had all that she thought she was looking for she didn't really care for those things.

Personally I think both Molly and Issa are unlikable people at times and Daniel and Lawrence are more likable people in general.
