BioWare Apologizes for Mass Effect: Deception Errors [Comic: Chapter 16 - Complete]

Enduin

No bald cap? Lies!
What the fuck, LumpOfCole you are a true artist, but goddamn Dietz is fucking horrendous.

I cannot understand how BioWare OKed this and if I were Drew Karpyshyn I would go kick Dietz in the nuts for ruining my series. This book literally does nothing but negate the entire series by killing everyone of importance off and revealing absolutely nothing in the process. Forget completely messing up about a thousand details, the main plot itself is literally meaningless and utterly destructive.

That toothbrush killing didn't happen like that, right? The "toothbrush" is just a nickname for some dagger, right? I refuse to believe that someone was killed by a toothbrush, especially in a sci-fi novel full of laser guns, people with telekinetic powers and electric "swords". :|

Anyway, yeah, the story was pointless. They only managed to kill several meaningless characters.

I put the link in the last panel, but just in case any of you missed it, this is the guy who did the epic toothbrush art:

http://starblasterstudios.blogspot.com/

He did the art for me in exchange for me helping him set up a web domain thing for work. He's an awesome friend and he felt inspired by the toothbrush page of the novel as well.

A toothbrush in the 2100s is a deadly weapon like any other. The sonic vibrations are deadly to most.

Okay, so basically... they undid everything in the recent books aside from Kai Leng sticking around. Sounds like something Bioware would approve. Or DC/Marvel comics anyway.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
A tag well deserved.

I feel it's a bit more worse then undid everything
I think a lot of people were expecting Gillian to be in ME3, she's been around since the second book, and then that fuckin Dietz kills her of in the last chapter with a fuckin tootbrush.

I guess he wanted to really show that Kai Leng is a professional master assassin that can kill anyone with anything. Like the whole cereal thing it horribly backfired.

Holy lol at dat toothbrush kill, this book is a comedy adventure there is no other way around it.

also I demand a toothbrush DLC for ME3 online mode for $9.99

What an amazingly worthless ending. But it made for an amazingly awesome comic.

Lump (with a bit to Starblaster Studios for that epic toothbrush panel) deserves every dollar Dietz was paid to write this trainwreck. I honestly feel sorry for anybody so blatantly ripped-off if they bought this complete waste of a novel.

Does the book at least explain where did he get the toothbrush from? They were in a crematorium and I really doubt a ninja assassin would have his toothbrush with him all the time. Though, if eating his victim's cereals is his habit, I would understand that. One have to keep his teeth clean after all.

He sharpened it in his cell for countless hours, no joke

a toothbrush ???

i tought i was ready for anything ...but woah...
Congratulation ...on of the most comic stories i've seen in a while ...

Wait, the toothbrush bit isn't a joke?!?

This was my reaction too when I first heard about the "toothbrush". I honestly thought people were making it up till I read the book. Still we shouldn't underplay the usefullness of Oral Hygiene products.

I would say the toothbrush scene is a clue to how Shepard will defeat the Reapers in ME 3. Kai Leng had a toothbrush but Commander John/Jane Shepard will defeat the Reapers with Dental Floss.

Oh and a belated thank you to LumpOfCole I really enjoyed the comic. If anything I am kiinda depressed it is over now.

Sensational work, old boy.

You have managed to salvage that which seemed unsalvageable.

Never underestimate Kai Leng.

I'm prepared to see him attack Shepard in ME3 with anything.

I believe Dietz specifically describes it as "a prison style shiv" or wording very similar.

Also, thank you guys for the immensely kind words. This was a fun project.

1) Phenomenal job. Seriously.

2) Sharpened toothbrush shiv?

....

Question? If he's tied up and in a cage, how did he sharpen the toothbrush? I almost want Dietz to answer that so we'd get something like, "Leng maniacally worked the toothbrush with his teeth, fashioning it to a lethal point."

So many things don't make sense in that chapter I'm just going to ignore them.

But does she really attack the hologram? Really?

But does she really attack the hologram? Really?

Yep
And during the attacks in Afterlife she could spam biotics non stop, but i guess she forgot how to when Leng attacked her..

Masterful job Lump.

I'll post this again now that it is done and everyone has now seen the toothbrush part.

Revoke that mans author license.

Give lump a metal.

Give him a medal too! He deserves it.

He sharpened it in his cell for countless hours, no joke

It took hours to sharpen a toothbrush? What did he sharpen it with? Why didn't he use the sharpener? Why didn't anyone notice him sharpening a toothbrush for hours?

Why did BioWare think this book made Kai Leng a badass?

So many unanswered questions. I really hope Mass Effect 3 addresses these things directly.

Thank you Lump for allowing some of us to not waste our time reading the book.

And if this book was about building up Kai Leng, it's a major backfire. At this point, I probably won't be able to keep myself laughing when I see him in ME3.
