Enlighten me, since when it great concept or a vertical slice of a alpha/beta build ensure its "great"ness?
I am not saying that Prey 2 is bad but it is an unknown. Of course, as a concept it has been shown as more than the formulaic mundane stuff currently available in abundance. It kind of reminded me Deus Ex HR.
Is this the video game universe trying to remain balanced?
For a Dark Souls PC to be announced, another great game like Prey 2 must be sacrificed.
For all Prey 2 looked well executed and promising, I felt it was doomed. It seemed to labor with the typical "shoehorn a semi-sequel into the events of the first game because we have no ideas" scenario. Kind of like why I'm unenthused about Prototype 2.
And of all the games to pick for that treatment... Prey? Essentially a cult classic but nothing most people would remember or care about. (I'm not dissing Prey.)
Prey 2 was supposed to be true open world, as far as I know. DXHR, while a fine game for the most part, had fairly truncated environments.
I think the project was too ambitious for current gen and they failed to deliver the vision.
What the hell? Game was looking amazing from what they showed of it. I had no interest in the Prey name, but everything they said about it and showed of it looked awesome.
Is the developer owned by Zenimax? Is there any chance the game could be picked up by another publisher and just changed to remove the Prey references?
Move it, but not cancel it, then? There needs to be something way wrong with it.

Bethesda has no comment on Prey 2's rumored cancellation.
So it is supposed to be very similar to Fallout/Elder Scrolls games in that regard. Well if they can pull it then great otherwise albeit being a tad more restrictive it could take the route of ME or DE:HR if it would help them lend some overlying structure. It would certainly curb the ambition but perhaps would make it a more appealing proposition for the next publisher if indeed the project has been scrapped.
This would really suck if true

move it and have it another 2 years in the making? yeah...

Bethesda denied the DOOM 4 rumor quickly, so this isn't good news.
It took them 2 days, no?
Yeah but then it would rob it of its original potential. There's a big difference in everything from gameplay to story between going full open world and having sections that are cordoned off from each other.
