They also swept the Pens during the regular season in the Pens run to the Cup where they lost to Detroit. That worked out well for the Flyers. Regular season match-ups mean very little during the post season most of the time.


Also, FYI, since I'm new here...I'm a Pens fan (since the 80s; it's a shame I feel like I have to throw that in...) and I'm also a fan of whoever is playing the Flyers. I'm hoping the Pens beat the Flyers in 4 straight by a combined score of 40-0 and the Flyers miraculously go an 82 game losing streak next year. In reality though, I see the Pens in 6 mostly because Fleury > Bryz+Bobs IMHO. This is the one series in the first round where it's tough for me to get a read on who the clear favorite is though.

Surprised none of those NHL.com predictions include a Senators upset. They went 3-1 vs the Rangers in the season, so they can clearly play with them and win.

I can understand why he's surprised by everyone picking the Pens. I think it's going to be a tight series, but give the edge to the Pens because of Crosby and Bryz being less reliable than Fleury.

That's perfectly fair. I was just saying the coverage was lopsided, not without any merit. I never said the season series was a reliable predictor, but it IS relevant.

The season series is relevant, but not at the same time. The Caps also destroyed the Pens in the regular season that the Pens won the Cup.

EDIT: The Pens' record against the Caps in 2008/2009 was 0-3-1.

Betting lines came out today and the Pens are the favorite to win the whole thing. Pens are the favorite.

I'm not that concerned about the Queens, way more concerned about the Hawks. Either they'll bring out the best in us or we'll crumble. Either way, It will be an intense series, I hope we meet in the 2nd round :/

Also, I love the NHL.com writers that put Fleury as MVP. Would love to see him do that. Maybe then he'll get the respect he deserves.

I'm waiting for the EA NHL 2012 prediction, last season they got 13/15 series right if I remember correctly (?) (unfortunately, the Canucks-Boston series was one of them :'()

Ah, didn't know about that, but was kind of thinking that might be the cause. Was kind of surprised to see it on thescore though, since a Canucks-biased poll would be more expected on a different website, like the CBC or something. But yeah that makes sense, but nonetheless interesting.
