Yeah but the free agent issue still persists. Kinda the same situation the Cavs are in.

Plenty of cap; no one wants to come.

There was never a case of "plenty of cap"

and Charlotte, as a city, has had no issues of keeping players either. From the Hornets all the way to the Bobcats. Resigning guys has never been an issue.

Unless Biyombo can come back from his pretty bad end to the season, I don't really like anyone on the Charlotte roster long-term, this is going to be a long rebuild if they don't get Davis this year.

So, if I am reading this right, the Nets can move up to tie for 5th spot (or top pick) at best?

Looks like Portland is getting their pick this year barring a miracle.

Then they attempt to go the OKC route...Which will require tanking 2 more years AFTER this season.

Who's Charlotte's Durant? They just need one home run draft pick (and the Hornets name back) and they'll be able to sign free agents. Charlotte is not Cleveland.

Would have been a really promising future if MJ didn't fuck up last year's draft.

Imagine a Jonas/Davis frontline, DY.

We don't need a Durant MVP SAVE US BASED GOD player.

An LMA would work just fine too. I think that's what damn near everyone is missing... Minnesota, Memphis, Portland - those teams are on the upswing not because of phenom players, but because of an abundance of young talent that was allowed to develop.

Portland was good because they had a star in Roy; not because of LMA. Minnesota has a future star in Rubio, plus a servicable chucker in Kevin Love. Memphis lucked out with Best Gasol. How long would it take for the Bobcats to field a Conley/Allen/Gay/Z-Bo/Gasol starting squad?

Coming out of this draft without a star is unacceptable.

lol

This also goes in the Offseason OP.

Going into the draft looking for a savior isn't the way to go. Minnesota has Rubio - but they also have Love. Portland has LMA, but they also had Roy. Memphis picked up Rudy, and they stuck with him instead of looking to move him because wasn't MVP enough.

This is not a one year tank by any means. By the time Chicago gets that pick, it'll be in the late teens at best and we won't even need it.

This tank is all Cho. Drafting Biyombo is all Cho.

Those of you berating MJ for tanking are giving him far too much credit and also just as likely to trot out "MJ is too involved, he needs to let go of the reigns!"

The only thing MJ is doing right now is being involved in the process and letting his GM do the work that he was hired on to do. Right now they are stockpiling high draft picks, getting rid of shit contracts and doing a complete rebuild. This is exactly what Cho wanted to do in Portland before he was let go.

What else would you guys want them to do? Trade for a superstar? That was never going to happen.

We should've kept Felton, Jackson, Wallace, and Chandler.
