It's really too bad that the Flyers aren't worried about Kovalchuk at all, because he really burned them tonight.

“My own personal feeling is that it never transferred well to television. I’m not exactly sure why that is. … It’s a sport that engenders a very passionate local following. If you’re a Blackhawks fan in Chicago, you’re a hard core fan. But it doesn’t translate to television, and where it really doesn’t transfer much to is a national discussion, which is something that typifies what we do.”

wat lol this whole quote shows just how awful ESPN is at everything they do

Not on Bryzgalov at all...it was a 3 on 1 off a terrible change. Flyers deserved to lose not cashing in on those powerplays

Not really meaning to imply blame, just kinda stating a fact. Big rebound, a little to slow to respond, and the puck is in the back of the net. It was the team in front of Bryz that let him down and put him in that situation.

I think ESPN's offer to the NHL last year to get them back on their network was one game a week on ESPN2 or some low-ball deal like that. :lol

I was critical of the move to Versus previously, but it's working out well for the NHL now, as the ratings are comparable if not better than what they were doing on ESPN.

Big rebound?
Slow to respond?

It was a hard wrister from 10 feet away! :lol

Brutal line change hurt Philly there, not Bryz.

forgot there was another game on

game over for st louis if they give it up tonight.

Blues look lost again tonight. Kings are winning the competitive and psychological battles constantly. Unless they come out and show some gusto in the next period, this series is a wrap as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair, seeing a hockey game live is an extremely different and way way better experience than watching it on TV. This is in stark contrast to some other sports that are practically made for television like football.

It's also just strange enough as a sport (dudes sliding around ice on top of sharp blades while trying to hit a hard piece of rubber into a small net, wat?) that it can be somewhat understandably difficult to get into if you don't have a local team with rich history.

That said, ESPN is still terrible and full of shit.

Actually I think the ratings are still lower than the ESPN years

They are catching up to the fox years right now... Remember these huge increases are still showing how much of a decline the viewership has had because of disgusting treatment to the sport

Hockey is on its way back in a rather big way.

Haven't seen much from Giroux in these last two games.

He is being beaten down anytime he is on the ice. He was able to rough up pitt's players and dictate play but the devils are being way more physical and it looks like his game is suffering due to it...also looks like he might be a bit hurt

I'm starting to think our Kings can win the championship, Puddles.

I'd put our odds at making the Stanley Cup Finals at about 65% right now.

As for winning the Finals, I want to see what matchup we get. I don't think there's an Eastern team that clearly outclasses us.

Puddles is a Kings fan?

Fuck, I was kinda rooting for them. Next thing I know, Scullibundo will be a Habs fan.

What? You and are are so alike! We both like movies. We both like hockey. We both like fine cheeses on baguettes. We're practically long-lost twins! Don't stop rooting for the Kings on my account!
