KVO THE ULTIMATE BATTLE 2012 | Fighting game tournament (JP) | May 4-5

Kusoru wasn't the best in Japan but he hard counters our love of herp derp rushdown very well with log trap and triple jump with a mach speed thrown in.

I think people pick it because it's the easiest to see the action on (for the players). Dark costumes on a dark stage get annoying.

That's exactly why I choose it every time. Frustrating when people will go out of their way to pick a dark stage (with black trenchcoats unsurprisingly) too :lol

As much as I know this feel bro, Asgard: Sea of Space is such a nice looking stage. :lol

I think I'm a 8 on The Break head because Asgard is like my favorite stage in both variants.

How about because it is the first stage to select and they don't give a shit.

fixed. he's the man to beat, but I think it would be a different story at evo. He doesn't seem to have evolved his game at all.

yeah, this was really worth getting salty about. lol

is metro city considered a dark stage? i choose it because of haggar and not any other reason.

Top 3 from KVO and kusoru sure look like a crew of killers. I don't think anyone can't be beat. I just like the idea of the U.S. getting a run for our money that will make streaming evo umvc3 worth it.

Yeah Kusoru was never the best but his team style worked against the American teams very well. Don't think it would be as effective against the Morrigan teams as even Deadpool's zoning was giving him trouble.

Great tournament, great experience, great hype and great play. Would love to see the likes of Chou, Abegen etc come to EVO as well.

really? u.s. players haven't evolved their game at all since final round?

lol
Most haven't, some have. The scene overall has been quite lazy. A lot of people are just wide open for potential blow ups.

I'm not watching and I only play MvC3 super-casually(I can't be good at it because I don't think on my feet well but I love to watch though), so I don't even know what you guys are talking about with the She-Hulk car thing but man it sounds amazing.

Nah, mostly Shield Helicarrier, that place is the blurst for it on my CRT. Shadowland and Tricell sometimes too depending on the time of the day.

Respect to Sea of Space though, <3 Asgard.

Random is random and that's fine... but when I've played them before and I already know what stage they're going to pick for dat soldier camo, I feel like I can roll my eyes.

AND THEN SECRETLY WRITE THEIR NAMES DOWN AND HUNT THEM DOWN BECAUSE ONLINE FIGHTAN GAMEZ ARE THE LIFE GIVER. Oy.

stop being nationalist seraph

i'm not, I think Japan has interesting tech and I think the U.S. is making progress. I guess I've been reading too much "OMG he completed a combo we suck we're terrible Japan > USA" in the KVO chat today.

I guess part of it is that I would be pretty damn sad if top players would be dumb enough to sleep on him if he was coming to EVO.

but he lost the finals, so that means no Kusoru at EVO barring some other opportunity for him, right?

Speaking of UMvC3 skill just shared some Doom tech:
Seth Killian said:
For the record, my secret Doom tech was pick hidden missile asst, alphacounter into Doom against ground string and he will throw em (!)

Cmnd for hid missile assist overlaps w/throw input so Doom does "back+C", but gets expressed as throw you can use to interrupt blockstun

Alright, then show me proof of America improving there gameplay.

Hint, there is barely any and more of lesser known players improving over the ones who got there ass handed to them at FR.

Fchamp, Chris G, RayRay, Balrog, Yipes are the only big known names that have actually tried to improve there gameplay since FR.

Watch the streams. They still use the same strategies as they did before FR.

Why Fchamp has been so dominant, he has adapted and improved. Same for Chris G.

That's your first problem right there.

Why bother improving or adapting?

Its much easier to bitch about the game, complain, call it "Random", and just copy paste whatever got top 8 at the last tournament. Gets you results.

:-O That's awesome. Why the hell did they fix it? I would actually use alpha counters...

And here I thought they'd do something sensible, like call the specific assist move state, rather than having the assist "perform an input." I love you, Capcom.
Why is that less sensible?

Why bother improving or adapting?

*calls an unsafe assist and loses two characters*
"OMG see how random this game is?"

It gets so old.

those guys are also ones that make marvel their top game for the most part. the problem with a lot of ours guys is that they branch out into other games and then their marvel games suffer.

ok, there you go, do all of the U.S. players need to be amazing to beat kusoru?

nope, only one.

not to mention all the people he didn't play at Final Round and all the people he'd have to get through at EVO.

It's not going to take a lot to beat Kusoru... just more in-depth knowledge of characters outside of the top 25 and picking a team which isn't a 1 dimensional rushdown specialist.

You know it's bad when people try to Bionic Arm raw Viewtiful Joe when he has more than a couple of ways to shut that shit down.

Umm.... That wasn't my argument.

My argument was that majority of US players that people now have not leveled up there gameplay from FR. I know that if he goes up agains Champ/Chris G he would lose and probably yipes as well.

I am talking about the overall level of US players is still the same after FR.

Yipes is such a huge variable in the game. Went into the hyperbolic time chamber when UMVC3 came out, entered a few tournaments but didn't do well however performed well at Combofiend's Comboratory where he got a lot of experience.

Then went into hyperbolic time chamber for a long ass time, came to Winter Brawl did well but disqualified himself because he got sick. Entered Final Round after that and got top 3, best performance in Marvel for him I believe. Then goes into hyperbolic time chamber again and we see glimpses of him bodying fools with the Sons of Sparda. Now he's back in the hyerbolic time chamber again. I really don't know what he's cooking up but he is GOING IN on the game, he already has the best Vergil in the States as well as the best Dante.

in watching something like civ war or the last big 2, i think we've got some good up and comers. I can't point to anything and be like "here's evidence that everybody in the U.S." is getting better, since that's an impossible bar to meet, but I feel like I see less spencer/wesker and more varied team choices these days, plus a lot more one hit kills all over the place.

I think by evo, it'll be even better.

Yipes and Chris G have gotten even better, while theres newer players like Fublat and Predator who have leveled up their game substantially i think you are pretty nuts.

You have to remember we have more to a lot more people than countries relevant to the discussion. Even if our FGC is smaller and we play more games, you can easily see how much interest Marvel has by the sheer amount of high level weeklies.

He said that OVERALL they haven't improved while listed some who have.

For as many people who have leveled up their game, you can easily come up with like 5-6 known players who haven't. This was more a look on the majority of players.

Grecco read my post before. And yes some up and coming talents are putting time into the game. I mentioned Yipes and Chris G.

I still disagree with you. The majority of Marvel players are improving. Theres a large amount of players who are moving up in that tier. From Lesser known to legitimate threat. Look at how Infrit does every week.

Cases like Combofiend? are the exception not the majority.

they will get exposed at EVO!

i wish capcom would throw a huge bonus in the pot. then we'd see UMVC3 play go fucking insane

You are naming the exceptions.

A lot of Marvel players are still playing this as if it was day one. How many basic Wesker BnBs get dropped?

How many Vergils out there still use his meter neutral bnb instead of the advanced combos which end in two meters?

I watch the streams and half the matches I have to do something else till someone like Predator, Gc Yoshi, Fooblat, Fchamp, Chris G comes on.

Look how many times Hi I'm Nasty has won due to people not snaping in Skrull.

So many times.

Agreed. As much as I like having choices when it comes to fighting games, I really want to see what happens when everybody goes into the lab full time for a couple months.

Not the best but one of them. He's also apparently the guy that found the DHC glitch in vanilla. So people tiring to down play him as just some good Japanese player is a little funny.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell at certain points in the bracket maids come out and either berate people who lost, or reward people who won. Or something. Japan.

Godsgarden has a system that viewers can treat drinks/snacks for players via online by paypal.
Typical Godsgarden event have been held at bar like Asagaya Loft A, but this time, they are at maid cafe, so that is.

Can I treat a player to salt? Like just put salt on a dish and send it to them?

Dude seriously... if America implement this.... JUST IMAGINE!
