Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

Just ordered the Halo 4 console and game. No more playing it exclusively once a week at my friend's house. I think I have a couple of you guys on my friend list. Lets rage soon.

So the people who are going to sell the game back, are you also going to stop posting?

Because I hope so.

Because H4 is all of Halo...

Yeah man, Over, Ghaleon, and sltPoison are such assholes right?

I don't think they are assholes, but the incessant complaining when they don't own the game seems a bit much.

I guess if I were to sell a game back, and was previously posting a lot about it on a forum, I'd probably stop.

But hey that's just me, and if this thread has proven anything, I'm the asshole.

Not asshole, hypocrite. I wont play Halo4 cause JIP but ill still play game B instead with the same exact feature. Unless he stopped MP gaming alltogether, its a stupid argument.
Pretty sure Skyrim doesn't have JIP. I haven't played for a few months though, so...

Edit: To put a more optimistic take on daedalius' words - when this place is nothing but page after page of "RIP Halo" and "How could 343 be so dumb", mixed with random in-jokes, it becomes anything but inviting for people to jump in or join the community here if you actually, God forbid, enjoy the game.

Isn't this supposed to be a Halo community thread, not just a Halo 4 thread?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Talents hit it on the head (kidding, obviously).

Half the time we don't even talk about Halo. Just do what everyone else does; put the guys you don't like on ignore. Although based on your commentary on the thread, it might get a little lonely in here for you.
Sorry I'll get right back to it.

CoD is the most revolutionary game series ever, its game engine changes every game and is the best game evar.

Dammit Talents, this is not how you follow up a good post

Hope not. Didn't get the chance to mention it earlier but that was a great post breaking down the Halo 4 campaign. You put words to 99% of my gripes with it. Nailed it.

Thanks man. I just sat down and typed out everything that bothered me. I was tired of people saying that no one posts anything good about what they dislike about the game. Not saying my post was good, but at least I let it all out.

And REGARDLESS if I still have Halo 4 I like the community. I wouldn't spend hours in Photoshop designing shirts and my Windows 8 tiles project if I didn't care.

This argument just doesn't hold any weight for me. Are you literally only getting on for 15 min? If you're even going to play a handful of matches JIP is still better than no JIP. Sure it has issues, most games do. But Halo is better off with JIP. As for the carousel of players part of your post and wanting "fresh games" that's more or less a Halo "purist" argument. You can still get that , play customs, join gamebattles etc, but tha style of Halo is gone and has been absent from games for a LONG time. The lack of JIP in halo up till now was mind bogglingly backwards IMO.

I agree with you to a degree, I pretty much am a Halo purist though, and just because those things have been gone for a long time doesnt mean it needs to be that way. :(

If I am on for just a short time, JiP really ruins things for me. With Uni I would literally fit one game in here and there over the space of a night between getting assignments done, being able to go in and play 1 solid game was a lot better than having to deal with JiP. I admit things have moved on since then, Halo 3 seemed to have less of a quitter problem back in its prime than even Reach did a year ago, and now that im working I tend to have less time to game, but more solid blocks of time. I think the problems with JiP extend beyond the fact you get half finished games though. The weird unpersonal feel of games, and I am willing to bet the connection issues are all partly caused by JiP. I really should just make a long list of why I think JiP is damaging rather than useful sometime.

I did manage to play a TON of Halo 3 without quitters ruining things for me though, but yeah I will agree with Reach it was more of a problem. Harsher quit penalties can help here:

  1. Offering a surrender option when being down x many players.
  2. Offering more EXP for winning with a player down.
  3. Offering strong incentives to stay in games through your career. (I.E. Finish 5 consecutive games = 500 more exp. Keep a game completion percentage above 80% nets you more exp per game. etc)
  4. Punishing people who have a long term history of quitting. (Increading the quit penalty with each successive quit.)
  5. Matching players based on quit percentage. (So that quitters match eachother and better behaved players match eachother)

Are all things that I would put in place over JiP. Of course as far as theoretical rules go they will all need to be fleshed out but I think you can make a game which stops quitters from ruining things without resorting to JiP.

This is pretty much what I meant, but obviously I'm not as capable of putting it nicely; it appears.

lol, I could only hope. My commentary is just so terrible for everyone. When I post about issues I have with the game, no one responds. When I complain about complainers, its a pile-on.

smh

Shut up, asshole. Also, thanks again for avatar :)

I can't speak for Ghaleon, but I'm almost positive that he doesn't play much multiplayer if at all outside of Halo MP.

You sure he's not some hypocrite asshole?

Yea great news about the JiP progress. Definitely can't wait to hear all the juicy details.

Hoping for game unable to start with uneven teams.

I think that'll be added for sure. And I'm also hoping the update fixes getting into matches that are too lopsided or about to end.

Thats possible, and if he doesn't play any MP games (at all), then i apologize. But im still fairly sure that most people bitching about it play other MP games as well that have it too and think nothing of it in those games. But in the Halo thread, its overblown as usual.

You cant say that there arent a lot of hypocrites in this forum, cause there are. Especially in the Halo threads where everything is held to a different, unrealistic standard.

I went through the same shit with ghost recon bud. Sometimes you just hast to accept the change until the game no longer resembles what you loved, then move on. It's just fact at this time. Money talks, and it talks way louder than "niche purist" fans.

I love the Halo we got now, but I know it's not what people like you want. It sucks for you, but I'm happy it is what it has become. It's just weird seeing this from the other angle (not ghost recon).

Edit. God damned phone posting.

Like i said, unless he stopped MP gaming altogether, its pretty much the definition of the word.

So fucking what if he likes other multiplayer games which have JIP. What works in one game may not work in another. Ever think of that? That doesn't make someone a hypocrite at all. That's one of many things people don't like. The only people that would make a hypocrite would be those that hated only that part of the game and then went and played say COD or another game that has it just because it has it.

Oh yeah totally agreed - I have known this for a while though. :(

I still think my enjoyment of what Halo has become is dependant on more than just the core design ideology though. I really think I would like Halo 4 a lot more if it had a ranked and social divide. Having no JiP, limited access to perks and AA's and strict trueskill matchmaking in ranked would be great.

JiP, Perks and AA's and relaxed skill matchmaking in Social would also be great.

Right now you cant choose when you play against good players or when you let your hair down. It would be nice if they separated the game into two distinct areas. One for competitive play and one for chill out play. Putting/ excluding features like JiP in certain playlists would make me very happy.

It may not work...wow. So apparently replacing people who quit before the game even started in Reach just doesnt work in Halo....... Oh pleaaaaaaase.

If Ghaleon plays Halo 3 he is a hypocrite because it has multiplayer and also it's Halo.

Have you been reading anyones posts? The system that has been implemented has flaws. It's not about being a purist, the new system that replaced the old one is causing people issues.

Mikey, this is a community thread, not the game OT. Most of the people you will deal with here are a bit different tha standard forum trash. If you keep posting like this you're not gonna last long.

Will people quit quoting talents? If I wanted to read idiotic, hyperbolic, offensive drivel I'd go to the blogs on Fox News's website. I'm pretty sure they're written by sad 14 year olds, too.
