Rayman Legends Demo up on eShop

I've noticed these stages have been greatly simplified from the Wii U experience demo... Certainly hoping that's just for this demo and the challenge remains in the retail version.

Can this demo be played multiplayer? Castle Rock was way more involved with one person on the game pad and one on a controller. I'm just worried they dumbed things down as a result of complaints due to people freaking over Murfy.

EDIT: Just watched the in-demo trailer and a lot of the bits that I played at Wii U Experience were in there, so that assuages some of my fears!

I bet they would have done so if it were possible to enforce a limit only post-release. I commend anyone who actually uses up these full 30 tries, though :p

I think it technically would be possible. You either just set the release date in the demo, to kick in on that date, or a timer countdown. Or if the console is still online, when you fire up the demo on or after release it quickly checks the server, and initiates the limit.

I dont think it would ever happen though.

Pretty fast download and install actually.

Demo is good fun. 30 times trial is reasonable imo.
Looks great, a bit hectic, but fun.

I do think it's confusing to go from screen to pad and vice versa... My son was laughing his ass off (4 year old)

Awesome, awesome demo. I wonder why the game didn't make launch. Wasn't it finished or would it be to much competition for NSMB U?

I think it was originally slated for launch but they pushed it back to early 2013 to concede the launch/holiday season to mario.

probably for the best.

Considering the low number of interesting third party Wii U games in the first half of 2013, that is indeed for the better.

Anyone else notice the UI becomes sluggish when you have Rayman downloading in the background, then once it's complete it becomes smooth again?

Hate to know what happens if you're playing a game..

So I've just downloaded the demo and am playing the first level - the TV is showing the game, and the gamepad is playing the sounds, but only has the level pictures on. Is this correct? It feels... Wrong.

EDIT: Answered my own question. Also, did they spell Murfy as "Murphy"? :|

I'm conflicted. Same physics, which is a big turn off for me, but I had more fun with the demo than I did with what I played of Origins. Castle Rock was pretty darn cool. That Murfy stuff is just biiiig no, though. Really broke the flow of the game with just one person. With no one else to play with, I hope it's not forced on me in the full game. >.>

This demo made things worse for me. I need this game right NOW. Fucking loved the demo and has me so pumped for this game.
I really like the varied styles of gameplay. The level were you mix platforming with the gamepad was pretty fun although a bit on the 'hand holding' side but I really can't see Ubisoft doing much else in that regard though.
The pure platforming level (Toad Story?) was really fun although a bit on the easy side (managed to get every hidden cage on my first try).
Castle Rock had me playing with a huge smile the entire time. Again, I found this level to be a bit on the easy side with the game sort of correcting some of your errors but I didn't really care...it was fun as hell!

Good news about the release today. Definitely will try it out when I get this work thing out of the way, haha!

I played Assasins Creed for a while when downloading something. Shit was bananas, impossible to play.

They may well be slightly modified levels for the demo to showcase what content is in the game. I'd like to think that they wouldn't make you change character mid-level (especially since my viking lady suddenly disappeared and was replaced with Globox when the AI kicked in).

Download nice and quick from the UK eshop. Weird that the US one doesn't have a demo section.

As for the Rayman demo? Bloody brilliant. Puts New Super Mario U's ground treading to shame.

According to Rayman's lead designer, the game is 80% platformer and 20% touchscreen-based. However, the Murphy stuff is apparently optional in single player mode. I'm still a bit confused by that.

perhaps you can choose to either have an AI rayman while playing as murphy, or to have an AI murphy while playing as rayman.

or perhaps all the murphy mandatory levels are side branches like the chest chases were in Origins.

Interesting. Well, either way, I'm okay with a 4:1 ratio. I enjoyed the touch mechanics in the demo -- as long as they're used sparingly.

Okay guys, I played the demo.
Let me first say that I actually wasn't THAT drawn into Rayman Origins. I liked the visuals and the platforming, but still it felt like something was missing.

Now with Rayman Legends...the only thing I can say is this:

HOW THE HELL IS THIS DEMO SO FULL OF MAGIC?!?!?
It's wonderful, really. Lots of fun. Retail tame is now on pre-order.

Just tried the demo. Three levels is pretty hefty.

This game is visually astounding! Playing on my new 1080p TV, all I can say is wow. No surprise, since Origins was a looker as well, based on the demo.

Probably won't be buying this, but for the people with Wii U systems that love Rayman, it seems like it will be quite the treat.

What a beautiful, beautiful demo.

Music and graphics are top notch, controls brilliantly and the Castle Rock section - immense.

Had a huge grin on my face throughout every section. It's safe to say that this is a day 1 for me!

Stunning looking game. I think it puts Mario to Shame. I think releasing this later is a big courtesy to Nintendo.

Lol, it has nothing to do with being a courtesy to Nintendo. While it might objectively be a better game, Rayman would have been crushed releasing alongside Mario U.

I was playing Mario U while it was downloading and the game kept running at a perfect 60fps, despite the home menu being sluggish as hell.

Perhaps the game thread is not affected by what's going on in the "system" thread?

Wow at the Rayman demo. I played the last one on the Wii after I found it cheap on Amazon and it never really grabbed me. This is an instabuy now. The touch screen level was really awesome and the music one.. well after I finished it I just had another go straight away. The whole thing just seemed really polished. I bet Ubisoft have got a massive seller after this demo.

The idea of demo limits makes sense, but what would make more sense?

Limits should only be imposed once the game is actually available.
before a game is released it should be unlimited me thinks, or significantly increased.

because no matter how many times you play it, you still cant buy it.
The only demos I would play 40 times is something like Zelda or Miyamoto stuff. A few passes is enough for me to know if I'm gonna buy the game or not
