That is awesome and I am super excited for sun to finally learn more about the game. But i find it really really funny that people are soo stupid. I mean there is barely any information out there and people are like jumping to conclusions like crazy. Like omg noooo dont let it be an MMO. Or saying it will / wont be next gen. Why dont you people just wait for some actual concrete information before you say something stupid and make yourselves look like fools. Also according to the pic of the pre-order thing it shows that you can pre-order it for 360 and PS3 so it will most likely launch on those system. They may also have it available on next gen depending on how soon the next gen systems are released after the game comes out. But What i'm assuming based on what was stated in the court documents is that since they plan to have like at least 3 other sequels to Destiny that the first one will be for PS3/360 and Destiny 2 or w.e it is called will prob be on PS4/720. To me that seems the most logical based on the information we have as of now. So we just have to wait till they reveal more specifics about the game and their plan to really know whats going on.

Also as someone stated before, I completely agree that when this comes out and since bungie being the masters of competitive multiplayer it will probably Kill Halo. But this game looks awesome and I am really excited for it, and if it was some kind of MMOFPS and had armor/wep loot mixed wither their fantastic story telling and game mechanics this game is going to be a homerun for sure! Sun cant get here fast enough >_<' lol

"...competitive multiplayer modes,..."

Is this the end of Bungie's stand against gameplay unlocks in competitive multiplayer?

Possibly, but it's not unheard of to have multiplayer separate from the rest of the game. GW2 has the MMO portion, then it has multiplayer which doesn't share any gear with the actual game.

I can't say more. Go to a games retailer on Monday, assuming you're in the US.
EDIT: it's really nothing too shocking, or secret; I've just never seen anybody do this one little thing while advertising their game and so it's very amusing to me.

Interesting... Sadly I'm not. :(

Bungie really can't catch a break with these leaks. That box art is stunning, I'll be really disappointed if they change it.

After the initial shock of it being a leak, Bungie have said they weren't actually too bothered about it. We know almost nothing about the actual game, yet we've got a brief synopsis of the plot and a few art assets. If anything the leaks have done Bungie a favour in satiating their fanbase somewhat ahead of an actual reveal.

These really aren't too bad to be honest. As far as I can tell they're basically just POP for retailers that would be getting put up on Sunday anyways.

I meant in general really, they always have problems with leaks. The first gameplay shown from Reach was leaked by 'Tom Morello'.

That's true, it's generated hype anyway. If it wasn't for the leaks, we'd know nothing about the game until tomorrow.

The leaks aren't that bad. We don't even know the damn genre of the game yet.

Uh...third key feature.

If this is a huge success I wonder if MS will be pissed. Didn't they have first refusal on this? That implies that they didn't especially like the look of it and decided to let someone else publish?

Bungie wanted to make a multiplatform game. MS didn't want to publish on the PS3.

Yeah this.

People are blowing this up to be something that it's not. Bungie has stated that they didn't consider signing a publishing deal with MS because they wanted to release for multiple platforms. That's not some fuck to you MS or some refusal to publish from MS's end.

tl;dr: It's what you'd want to do when you're Independent studio.

Exactly. It's not some giant FU to Microsoft. Microsoft of course had right to first refusal and it was pretty obvious they would refuse with it being a multiplatform title. Hence they probably had a brief chat with MS and of course MS was like yea we'd just pass and Activision picked it up.

Can we expect some ingame sequences? If so, will they show the next gen build?
Yeah, ViDoc's usually contain quite a bit of gameplay. Even the first Reach ViDoc gave us a substantial look at the game. I don't expect this to be some half-assed reveal; Bungie is taking over the internet tomorrow.

Bungie always use in-game assets when they reveal their games.

Expect a substantial vidoc produced in-house, with plenty of in game assets, and equally illuminating commentary. And I imagine there'll be a swathe of slightly less informative media previews. And of course GAF's own Louis Wu, who'll drop the real bombs.

Thanks :) I hope they don't just show the PS360 version although it would make more sense.

Without knowing anything concrete I'd almost guarantee that it'll be exclusively current generation footage. Durango isn't announced for another month at least, and Sony wouldn't sign off on the first Orbis footage being debuted before their big reveal on Wednesday.

Don't make the same mistake that a few others have, though: just because it doesn't mention it on the pre-order materials, and just because tomorrow's reveal will focus purely on 360 and PS3, this does not mean Bungie aren't working hard on next generation content. They almost certainly are.

One thing that could be plausible, considering the documents, is that as they're planning to release sizeable expansions in the annual gap between major releases, a next generation version could launch next year as part of this content expansion.

I still think that Destiny will be on both the next gen consoles by year's end.

Could well be, although it'd be a massive undertaking for a studio that's already stretched to its limits. My personal prediction is that next generation versions of Destiny will be available, but not in time for this year.

It's possible that we'll see next-gen footage of the game, and the platform just simply won't be mentioned.

When Watch Dogs was shown off, they announced it for the 360/PS3, but what they showed was clearly running on high-end PC or next-gen dev kits.

Oh man, RE-SPECT if that is the final box art.

So much.

PC or bust

Resources.

Bungie staffed up massively to become a multi-platform studio, in many different ways, and growth needs to be gradual; too much change could be crippling for the studio. One example of such growth was them having to create and implement their own testing labs, because they could no longer rely on Microsoft's.

Bungie also do things to a certain quality bar, they don't settle for anything below that. To create a PC product demands certain things, PC players have very defined expectations when it comes to player support and interaction, and as a result, alongside the many changes the studio had to make in this transition, it might have proved too large a task.

That's what I'm thinking. That "expanded" version but for 2014.

I completely wrote this game off at first since I have zero interest in MMOs. Hearing that this might some sort of SP campaign has got me interested though.

If Bungie Pro is returning, I wonder how much of the Halo sandbox and customization design is still here.

plz be a proper map editor

Bungie is about 300 people strong now, I wonder if Destiny is the only thing going forth. The juggled production of ODST, Reach and Destiny pretty well, so maybe there is the possiblity.

If Bungie actually make a good map editor, I will jump on Day 1. Really disappointed with the Halo 4 Forge. Some nice addition but felt half-baked.

I imagine it'll take the whole studio to ship the first game, and then I'd wager splinter teams of ODST proportions will split off to produce the yearly content expansions whilst the core group push forwards on the main followups.

As long as it'll be a MMO I'll be happy, and is releasing for either PS3 or PS4, as I'm not paying for Xbox Live here in Europe. Anyway, I'm excited for the reveal tomorrow, I like the enemy design and art direction.

And I weren't a big fan of Halo (completed the first one, played the second for a bit online also) but I liked Oni back in the day.

I'm pretty stoked for this. I do have a question, though: Are we going to see this on PC or Durango in the future? Seems silly to release such an ambitious project on a console that's going to be obsolete within the year.

Great to see the first being on both PS3/360, missing out one when the rest of the series is expected to continue on then being multiplatform IMO is always rather silly, or even a timed exclusive release and later on another platform for the developer to then wonder why it doesn't do so well on the late platform.

What is this I am looking at and why is it so beautiful?

Translating an editor as powerful as something like that to consoles is no easy task, I don't think Trials Evolution or Far Cry have gotten it quite perfect but they're damn good for what they are.

Something like Far Cry's?
Exactly, combined with gametype manipulation elements of Forge.

Amen.

My main issue is this. The 360 and PS3 are not capable of doing anything impressive in an MMO universe. The technology is old. Very old. One year younger than World of Warcraft old.

Blizzard stated during the last Blizzcon that actually happened, they debated about bringing wow to consoles, but the current consoles simply could not handle it.

As we all know, DCUO barely plays on consoles, and that game and universe is very restricted compared to what is out now, and what will be out in the future.

Planetside 2, an MMOFPS supporting 2000 players all fighting together at once on a big open sandbox planet, could never be done on current consoles.

I honestly think the current technology is to limiting of a factor to make this game impressive. That said, people who play on consoles know very little about MMO's. They do not understand the amazing, living, breathing worlds that currently exist on PC. So maybe they will be impressed with the product, but I am not holding my breath for it to knock my socks off. 360 and Ps3 are simply not capable.

People insist that Destiny is MMO... but nothing but the contract indicating it is MMOFPS. The fact the game is coming to current consoles indicates it is not, lack of memory being the biggest issue.
Me, i reckon it is some sort metagame. That would allow sort of cross-platform system as well, no? If all stats are uploaded to Bungie.net..
