I dont know whats going on here, is the black part on the sides part of the screen?

CNET compares it with the HTC one: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-6452_7...xy-s4-vs-iphone-5-htc-one-and-blackberry-z10/

Embarrassing that the HTC One is larger than the S4, but has a smaller screen and a smaller battery.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Yeah I hear you, the Note line has always looked scrumptious to me, a little big, but very nice. I guess it can be confusing hearing people act like this is galaxy S3.5 when its a big enough jump to earn it's place as the successor. But wanting to wait for the note also make sense for some people such as your self.

Lol, I'm already in on dat shit. And the 5.9" rumours are a little too big for even my beast-hands to ever grasp.

A potential S3 sized Note is kinda a weird proposition so maybe they'll never do it. Still, its the phone my girlfriend would most want since she loves the features my Note2 has but aint prepared to go that large (for phones at least, heeeeehawwwwwwwww)

Props to Sammy on getting that 5" Supes AMOLED up to scratch and fitting in the Octa though. Many didnt think they'd manage it! Me included.

Yeah, the black parts you see there are the onscreen keys at the bottom and the status bar at the top of the screen.

Nothing but screen and bezel on the ZL. Magnificent design. Likely to be the best of the year.

Not really. It has great front facing speakers and looks 100x nicer than the S4.

Embarrassed is the last thing HTC should be. They should be jumping for joy at this point.

As for it affecting sales, well... HTC are still going to suffer.

Those new Sony phones look absolutely beautiful. Too bad it'll probably sell like shit. People only care about HTC, Samsung and Apple.

Yeah I want to see where Samsung go with the next Note. Good thing about the note lineup from what I've observed is that they don't devalue as much as other phones.

I don't know if I'd ever use the pen stuff, but it looks mondo cool, and the more tech the better lol. My S1 is pretty big for my hands lol, girly hands :p

I'm honestly surprised some people are saying this is the iphone 5 of the Galaxy line.

I mean, were you in a coma during the god-awful presentation? The software improvements are...mind-boggling!

I don't know, first thing I do whenever I update my GS3 is disabling all Samsung stuff except NFC/AllShare related. S Voice slows things down and I'd rather use Google Now instead. Half of other features I'd probably disable in favor of better battery life.

Likely a prototype with a slightly different sized panel.

Here is a more recent shot:

What's wrong with the black levels on that phone?

I'm willing to make a bet that Samsung make their own Android fork within the next 24 months. There is so much proprietary software in this thing. Its almost shocking.

As for the hardware and UI? They still really do nothing for me.

KLP is right around the corner and its potentially Android 5.0... Which will be a big deal.

I dunno, if they really treated android as an afterthought, they wouldn't be shipping it with 4.2.2

Sony made a huge mistake using that black/grey wallpaper on the Z/ZL, makes the screen look washed out to hell and back.

Its got nice FF speakers, I agree, and I know some people stress over the materials, so thats nice for some also. But that doesn't excuse it IMO. Its a big device, they should have had room for a larger screen, or a larger battery.

Whatya think guys? Is the S4 a big enough upgrade compared to my:

Although mine doesn't look that good with faded buttons and scratches and all.

Prepare to become one of those lumbering zombies you probably see walking around downtown with their heads down 90% of the time as they fiddle with their phones all day. Getting a smartphone and being 'connected' all the time after coming from a dumbphone can be.... overwhelming.

We just wrapped up the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and, while the hardware of the phone itself held few surprises, this accessory did. Samsung doesn't have a formal name for it just yet, but this concept device is expected to launch sometime this summer. It's basically a first-party Bluetooth controller with a full complement of face buttons, dual analog sticks, a D-pad and even shoulder buttons on the back. It's powered by dual AAA batteries and connects wirelessly, the phone held in place by an expanding clamp up top that looks plenty big enough to support a Note II (we tried, it fit fine) and maybe even something like the Note 8.0!

Again, no pricing or details at this point, but it certainly felt nicer than your average Bluetooth controller. And, hopefully, that it's made by Samsung means we'll see widespread support.

Nvidia am cry, they should cancel Project SHIELD now.

I doubt the would fork the Galaxy S line but other phones? Maybe. Cutting people off the Marketplace / their Google Accounts would destroy the Galaxy S line.

Pretty nice upgrade. Bigger screen and larger battery yet physically smaller than its predecessor. That Exynos 5 Octa chip should be a beast. Same cheap shit materials as always but I suppose Samsung should be lauded for retaining a removable battery cover.

the middle buttons look like Nintendo, though

Microsoft and Nintendo third party combined!

I was going to write 'third party confirmed' but my auto correction changed it to 'combined' and... I liked the sound of it.
