PlayStation Store 04/16/13 - Dragon Fantasy Book I (YOPO) | Soul Sacrifice (Demo)

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
At least twice they release only trailers as part of a weekly update. Those were some great times, man.

Oh man, I remember those updates.

*trailers updated*

"Please, sir Sony, can we have some games?"

"GAMES!?!?!?!?!
Next week you can.
"

Maybe they should just get people from SCEE and SCEJ to come stick their foot up whoever's ass it takes at SCEA to get them to finally adhere to a regular schedule. It's completely unacceptable that this keeps happening.

Where is this outrage when the PSN goes down during a week when there's fuck all interesting on the store?

I liken it to the effect we go through when a tragedy occurs in this country. The moment the tragedy occurs, everyone wants to talk about "We need to change!" When no tragedy is occurring, we don't say shit.

PSN is always going through crazy shit as far as maintenance, firmware updates, etc, but I never see the rage when the update for that week consists of something like, Ben 10 Galactic Racing.

But when an anticipated demo is coming, and it's delayed? Whoo boy, look out! We need to change, Sony!"

It's not all about the demo.

There are ALWAYS complaints when they're late most weeks. WTF are you talking about?

I have no idea what you're talking about. The US or EU store updates don't get delayed by an entire day very often, and there's a pretty major shitstorm every time as far as I know.

come on man this can't be a serious post. I rather not go into a rant about SCEA but you should realize this is not about just one thing

Most of us are just poking fun since this isn't a new thing for NA psn. I dont know where you are seeing the pissyness (lol) of this thread.

To be fair, a few people, me included, have implied that SCEA needs a total restructuring and cleaning house. That's a fairly pissy reaction, I think.

And to be fair, if my team was consistently late for every deadline, upper management would likely clean house, but I agree with you. It's a pissy reaction to a minor inconvenience.

That's why I said most ;). I can understand why people are upset about it though. I was awhile back but since this has been a staple of US PSN you get use to it since apparently upper management doesn't really care.

I agree. I will defend things that PSN and PS+ gets right. This is not one of them. Think is these kind of things are persistent problem at SCEA.

upper management doesn't speak english

With the rise of Cerny hopefully this is not a problem anymore. I really hope the PS4's firmware updates aren't done through SCEJ (or is it Asia now?)

Edit: And yosp is a baller, don't be badmouthing the man.

LOL! Perhaps you should be a little more pedant, more precise and clear yourself.

You really did expect anyone would get all that out of that vague 2 lines post you made back there?

And no, I didn't jump at anything. I merely responded your post. We are in a discussion forum after all.

Or did you you jumped at Seks too when you answered him? Because he wasn't talking to you either.

Are you really blaming me for your mistake? Seriously? When I misunderstand people, I just apologise for the misunderstanding. I don't start blaming them for my mistake. Becuase really, why would I be "more precise and clear" at that point? If anyone wanted me to clarify, it's not that hard to just ask a question.

You misunderstood my last post as well though. I never said you jumped at anything, I said you jumped in with your argument that had nothing to do with what I was saying.

Oh and you meant pedantic.

While it is a fairly pissy reaction it has some truth to it. The american Playstation business is kind of a joke. The marketing from Sony for it's own games is abysmal. The lob out stuff like Minis or PSM and then they totally abandon them. The store team couldn't care less, 'deal with it' is their attitude since the beginning (only if a 3rd party publisher signs a contract with them for a day 1 one release they are forced to get their act together and put it up at midnight on the day). PS+ is an up and down story, for brief moments delivering strong (mainly around E3) and then going months with a 'deal with it' attitude.

The funny thing is that the american business gets the most support of Sony global (see the PS4 reveal in the US).

The european store of course has its problems too. They outright lie to their customers (Sleeping Dogs on PS+ for Germany) and have problems matching what is on the store with what they described in their blog post. PS+ has some good support though in Europe (except Germany of course).

If the US and EU stores don't get delayed that often, why then, the outrage over this rare event in which the store has been delayed by one day?

Either way, it just doesn't compute to me. The store is often updated at erratic times, I get that. I check the PS Store every week to see what's up, and know that it isn't updated at the same time, but it is usually always updated on a Tuesday (here in the US). How many times has the PS Store update been delayed by a full day, though? Does that happen constantly? According to many, no, it doesn't, so the anger I'm seeing across the net and in this thread over what is apparently a rare thing, seems incredibly extreme. To me, it seems that if there must be a reason for the store to not update on Tuesday, and not just "Derp derp, Sony am fail." It could simply be that a routine maintenance wasn't so routine after all. Who knows.

I could understand the anger if, every week, on a consistent basis, the store update was delayed by a day or two because of maintenance or what have you. Yeah, I'd be angry and annoyed, but since this is hardly a regular occurrence, it just comes off to me as people bitching to bitch about something. That's just how I personally feel about this.

I definitely wanted to download the SS demo, and purchase a few things that were going on sale this week(like some of the GTA titles and Dragon Fantasy Book I). I'm unable to do that. That sucks, but it's not the end of the world, and so far, I've only been delayed by one day. I can wait for this content to go live. I can see why some people would be annoyed, but the level of vitriol and anger I'm seeing here is over the top to me.

Continuous incompetence of various degrees and conveying a lackadaisical approach via actions (whether accurate or not) is a fine reason for high levels of "vitriol and anger".

Don't agree with it, good for you. It obviously doesn't matter to you as much, but that's no reason to lambast those who feel differently.

My only problem is that only the NA store seems to have this problem. That's the thing that frustrates me. That and the fact that all of the content providers are getting screwed.

Nintendo always gets their store updates up on time don't they?

It's kind of sad that in this area of the online world, Sony is worse than Nintendo.

Who's lambasting who? I never called people idiots, I never insulted anyone. I said that I don't understand the high level of rage if incidents like these are rare. What is the incompetence I keep hearing about? There seems to be this general consensus of, "Oh, Sony," but I'm not entirely sure where that's coming from. Usually, when referenced, it's the "$599 US Dollars," "Giant Enemy Crabs," and any number of memes and gif responses I've been seeing on GAF for longer than I've been a member here. What is this data of consistent incompetence? The PS Network hack? Or is it just because of slow/late updates? I'm certainly not going to hold it against a giant corporation for being arrogant jackasses 8 years ago. The PSN hack was the worst thing to happen to PSN this entire generation, and I think Sony paid for that.

I'm genuinely curious, because I see that "Well, it's Sony" so much on here, but I never see explanations for this general sentiment.

Because its not rare. Maybe the more then 24 hours late delays are rare, but the only consistent thing about PSN is how inconsistently its handled and worse yet, mainly in US. Even other regions of the same damn company have more consistent experiences. I can rattle of many digital stores with consistent updates that are on time, even in the gaming genre with Steam and Xbox Live.

When everyone else can get their updates out consistently and on time at the same time every week after week its just frustrating to see after YEARS of the inconsistency and delays Sony make no steps whatsoever to fix and improve their service. It's poor customer service, a giant red mark against their service and the consumers of their service and a negative impression of their dependability.

The european store updated before the american store, thats a first.

I was thinking about Dragon Fantasy Book, alas it is not available in Europe and I want to play it on my region-locked Vita. We are also still waiting for Nun Attack, my interest to buy that game is going down weekly.

Well at least there will be two shmups on the Vita next month (Sine Mora and Velocity Ultra).

To balance out the EU downloads are slow as hell. 1208 minutes to download the Soul Sacrifice demo to my Vita apparently. I feel the anger monkeys growing inside.
